@jillnorman: Wow! Judy Waggoner moved to Chicago? I'll have to look her up. I was the meteorologist from June of 1983 to 1984. I'm originally from Chicago. I'll have to look her up! I heard that June Taylor, (Goodmorning Ark-La-Miss) moved to Colorado. Anybody else hear?
KNOE TV had the most goofy-looking sets for their anchors. But, the station had that hometown air about them. Left the Monroe area 25 years ago, and always thought Monroe *had* the potential to be a great city. Alas, it's potential was lost when the likes of Jack Howard and James A. Noe left the scene. BTW does anyone recall Shady Walls--- Now that was a character! Only in Louisiana.
a very true staement about had. my wife and i moved back six months ago. we were gone 7 years and just missed johnnys and rays pege. its not where everyone wants to be but, rarely do people leave.
I miss the heck out of Johnnys, but my wife will not move there. It is a great place to raise kids and I did not realize that until I moved and had kids.
WOW! I'm a West Monroe native and man, do I remember those days. Remember the Civic Center at Christmastime? 1984? Didn't we have a big snowfall around that time? Thank you so much for posting this. I miss home, and I really miss those days too.....
When Pappy (Gov. James A. Noe) was alive, Channel8 was like SCTV and everybody got into the act! Jack McCall, June Taylor, Earl Casey, Mac Ward, Harry Arthur, Dave Woodman, Mildred Swift and "Mammy" are some of the great just to name a few. Does anybody remember others?
BTW, that was Lanny "We'll Wrap It Up After This Timeout" James on sports at the right and Eric something on weather at the left. Judy Waggoner kept score for the MR. Wonder Show!
Now you have me remembering! I loved Howard Griffin's! Oh, the classic toys I got for Christmas from there; many would be worth a bundle on ebay now.
John Denison has been a news broadcaster for FOREVER :O

@mobilene KFDA in Amarillo used the ticker as well
rebafan19 1 year ago
They were using the CBS news ticker from the 80's. KIRO in Seattle also used it until 1986 in their newscasts.
