  • jesus...

  • I remember this from the Groove Tube! I think have a VHS copy of it somewhere.

  • everybody should be allowed to slap the shit out of chevy chase.

  • @monk22yrs That's just funny what you said. I'm not sure if I need to be disturbed because I laughed at what you said or the fact it's alright to laugh about what you just said. lol You know I love Chevy Chase and miss his humor:) God Bless U.

  • Man, Chevy Chase really has a good voice. I would really love to see more of his earlier stuff, musical/comedy/whatever.

  • Since Howard Stern's made up with him, CVhevy is OK again

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Chevy Chase is my fucking hero. This shit had me cracking up. I didn't read any comments, when he started slapping his head, and Chevy started singing weird, I lost it, this is awesome.

  • I have always wanted to do that to Chevy Chase.

  • LOL!!!!

  • jkdzpgliaSJDngvbj

  • I like the Chevy Chase bank, especially when they merged with Capitol One! What's in your wallet?

  • Never got Chevy Chase. It's very obvious to see his infuences, but he's never found his own style or voice or has had anything genuinely funny or unique to say. WGaS?

  • Chevy Chase looks like Andy Kauffman.

  • medium talent

  • This movie along with Monty Python's Holy Grail, Flesh Gorden and Reefer Madness are pure drive-in history. Why Flesh Gorden? One word , penisouarous.

  • retarded

  • I loved the comedy of Chevy Chase back in the 1920's.

  • Too too funny!! I love you chevy! You are hilarious!!!!

  • I saw this as a kid and thought it was the funniest thing ever. Now I do this every now and then to my son (he's 10). I only had to complete the song one time and now he runs whenever I start singing it.

  • LOL

    Twit!

  • Chase is a comic genius, I guess even he had to start somewhere... But damn that looks like a hard punch. Ken Shapiro looks well pissed off too.

  • Sombody give that man a late-night talk-show!

  • @joeypolanski They already did... Failed misreably

  • @WaitWhatWasThat1:

Aww, now yer just pullin my leg!

  • It was calledd the tomorow show

  • @WaitWhatWasThat1:

    Oh, well ...

I guess we'll hafta give that late-night gig to someone else then.

Anyone got Magic Johnson's phone numbr?

  • @WaitWhatWasThat1

It was the Network's fault! Cocksucker!

  • (* snickr *)

  • @WaitWhatWasThat1 God that was a horrible show. As funny as Chevy can be, he was truly awful as a host.

  • looks like an old Python sketch

  • Finally a yt video that's rated as comedy that's funny!!!

  • No wonder he seems a little punch drunk

  • just what his head is - a hollow drum

  • what year is this from?

  • This was The Groove Tube, likely 1973-75.

  • Haha!

  • That was really mean to slap him on the head like that.

  • No wonder why Chevy got hooked on pain pills!!

  • Funny and not funny at the same time.

  • HA HA

  • hahaha! I watched this in math class.

  • This must have taken a few takes. Chevy singing while while being slapped on the head and not missing a beat. He probably didn't nail it the first time.

  • Where is 'safety sam' ?????????

  • That's Ken Shapiro slapping his head. He directed him in the film Modern Problems a few years later.

  • OMG THE GROOVE TUBE!!! Brought to you by the Cramp Kitchens and Brown 25 from Uranus Corporation

  • it is just copycat of Ernie Kovac and that,s how he started..! it should be in his(Chevy Chase) private library anyway i say,but by now it,s a gem :D

  • That guy who was doin the beat on his head was really getting into it too, lmao, classic!

  • what year is this?

  • 1974 movie The Groove Tube

  • SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET

  • lol ouch

  • I'll second that

  • MUHAHAHAHAHAAHA Chevy Chase is a comedy god

  • HA HA HA!! What is this, a show reel? And who's the othet guy? He looks vaugely familiar

  • Chevy, in my mind, is a very very funny man. unfortunately, i think his time came, and when his looks diminished, so did his marketability. For mine, hes one of the best comedy actors ever. Unfortunately, he only made about 5 or 6 good films and the rest werent great. I thi9nk his ego was a problem too. Very funny man though. I wish he made more good movies, because i watch the fletch, lampoons, caddyshack movies all the time. His dry wit is just hilarious. the key to his comedy was dignity..

  • This isn't supposed to be funny so stop saying it isn't

  • I thought it was funny

  • Good evening, I'm Chevy Chase, and you, you're just a statistic.

  • not so funny Chevy Chase ur better in *you can call me al* now thats funny!!!!!

  • Was this supposed to be funny? It wasn't.

  • No, but unfortunately he doesn't deliver the goods anymore. I don't know if it's because he doesn't want to, or if he doesn't get the opportunity. He deserves a comeback! :(

  • Hahah! Chevy was truely one of the best!

  • its not like he's dead or anything

  • CLASSIC. Period

  • After seeing this again, I realize that Chevy had a greater influence on my life than I remembered. Modern Problems is a gem. And who can forget National Lampoons when it was still a good thing? Groove Tube blew my mind back when I first saw it. Especially the part when the couple got naked and chased each other through the woods. Tunnel Vision is another great movie from this television parody "genre".

  • I really hope this took more than one take! haha

  • Chevy Chase, along with an attractive young lady, also did a parody of the early '70's Geritol commercials for "The Groove Tube," which was the funnier of the two scenes Chevy appears in. It is made all the funnier as his voice is dubbed and the girl is performing a strip-tease!!

  • Real good bit.

  • Everyone has their own opinion! Here is mine. Chevy Chase is one of my favorite comedians. When I see the old vacation movies, I laugh and laugh. He will always be one of the funniest, for me!

  • This was the best part of Groove Tube. I was more of a fan of "Kentucky Fried Movie" and "Amazon Women On The Moon" myself.

  • You know, his voice isn't that bad.

  • he has perfect pitch

  • chevy chase is such a "case study" of how a star who can fall so far.....

he was great and now he is a d list loser

  • He didnt fall anywhere. He just doesnt take any work anymore. A garbage man doesnt pickup your trash his whole life, he retires/quits eventually.

  • Newargot (2 weeks ago) wrote: Sadly, this is probably the funniest thing Chase has ever done.

    ----

    This was funny?

  • This is Chevy's "Jumping The Shark" moment!!

  • Good to know I'm not the only person to see The Groove Tube. My favorite sketches are the intro to the movie, The Sex Olympics, and above all, Coco the Clown.

  • Thanks! Saw that when it came out & couldn't rememer the name. peace (oh, still love Chevy)

  • Sorry, fans ... but the movie this clip was lifted from is titled "The Groove Tube". Not only was Chevy Chase a featured actor, but also Richard Belzer (Law & Order, SVU). The guy behind Chevy slapping his head is the producer/director of the movie, Ken Shapiro.

  • Sadly, this is probably the funniest thing Chase has ever done.

  • I remember this.. it was that comedy cult movie.. ummm In the late 70's. Can't remember the movie.

  • Kentucky Fried Movie

  • Thank YOU! Was starting to BUG!

  • It's from Groove Tube

  • ok where does chevy chase figure into all this because neither of these guys are chevy chase only someone who never saw him would think that.

  • naw dude, that guy on the bottom singing is chevy. Its not a very clear vid and hes really young but its definitly him

  • The guy getting his head slapped is Chevy Chase. The movie was "Kentucky Fried Movie" made in about 1974 (pre Saturday Night Live). You know, edthewise, everyone was young once.

    Peace.

  • It's actually from Groove Tube, a movie that predated KFM as far as I know, but are about similar things.

  • Brilliant - so funny!

  • why should this make him gay?? wtf is da matter wit u

  • odd

  • SHUSH!! the Chevy meister digs chicks he aint no fag! he had a string of woman in the 70'z and 80z before getting married the dudes god!!!

  • As far as Chevy Chase is concerned, he is currently married (as far as wikipedia knows) to a woman named Jayni, and that would, at least, place him in the category of "pretending to be straight", if not fully straight.

As far as Ken Shapiro is concerned, there is very little internet data available for him, so your guess is as good as mine ... perhaps the way he slapped Chevy gave you a hint as to his sexual predisposition?

  • @Derf1208 Chevy Chase is gay? Are you on drugs? He was married 3 times

Chevy is more of a man than you'll ever be, and more of a woman than you'll ever get:)

  • @Derf1208 " I never had a problem liking men's genitals, but I'd be the last guy in the world who'd want to have mine anywhere near another guy's."-Chevy Chase 1988 Playboy
