Well I think you got it well tamped there! Lol. The Macap's click is so overkill (as was shown in the vid). I have the Espro and learned a great deal from it. Now I mainly use my traditional tampers.
@124malik Regular ol' tampers cost anywhere from $15 all the way up to $200+ for the fancy Artazzas. Dynametrics are pretty expensive - the Espro Click is about $90 and the Macap is $140.
i found a friend at a forum in my country who has an espro, but he is using a reg barber. so i asked him to sell his espro to me :) i think he has an 58 mm flat version.
i am sick of the 54 mm plastic tamper came with my rancilio silvia. it doesn't even fill silvia's 58 mm portafilter. its base might be a euro convex.
i received my flat based espro from has bean yesterday. it is well built and i'm happy to use it. i don't have to think about the consistency and the correctness of my tamping anymore, i only adjust the grinder settings for the optimum extraction. thanks for your advices.

@ebslopp is a Mini Grimac.

@JuanjoChe72 Awesome, thanks! I've never seen one before, is that much different than the Grimac la Valentina?
ebslopp 1 year ago
@ebslopp thanks, I think they are very similar. I had few Grimac machines.. I really like them..
but now I'm using a two group lever machine.. and as they say, "once you go lever you don't comeback" ;)

So would you recommend the espro?
t30sxh 2 years ago
YES, the Espro its great, I still have it.
JuanjoChe72 2 years ago
is it your favorite among the macap and the regular tamper?
i'm ordering espro to have consistent tamping always and to eliminate one of the espresso variables.
bulenterdem1977 2 years ago
the Espro is my favorite among the Macap and any flat tamper..
BUT: I'm not using it much this days..
my preference is Euro Convex and the Espro is US convex.
Still it a GREAT learning tool.. it will help you on consistence and will give you a good idea of what 30lbs of pressure is..

what matters if it is convex or flat?
bulenterdem1977 2 years ago
yes, you DEFINITELY need a 58mm tamper for the Silvia...
Flat or Convex its a matter of preference.. you should try both and decide.
