  • i live in colorado springs CO, and the speed limit here, even in the outskirts it's still 65, but people still break it

  • @dudesons90 Speed Limits are the most broken law in the country. I attribute that to the fact that politicians not engineers set the speed limits. I think states know how much money they would lose to put them at a reasonable limit.

  • @vbdenny yeah it would make more sense if the engineers set the speed limits and not the politicians, but no the states want to have everything their way.

  • yeah, i live in colorado springs CO, and the speed limit between throughout the city and south of it is 65 mph, other than that, the max is 75, but people still break the 65 mph speed limit

  • can you hit over 650 on a road then i will say that you has passed the road better then me!

  • @lolzen2323 actually, I hit 460 instead.

  • Thank God... VA's one of the more boring states to drive through from NY to SC

  • I heard Governor McDonnell is working to sign legislation to raise rural interstate speed limits to 70 mph.

  • I guess it is still alive. They oughta make it 75 since everyone goes at least that anyway. The new Governor is screwing Hampton Roads just like they all do. Everything for NOVA.

  • come to us to germany, on many highways you can drive 250mph (if you can, hehe...) and it's 100% legal.

  • we could only wish. Here you would get about 10 years in jail

  • @vbdenny you americans get freaked out about texas thinking to push the speed limit to 85. i just can lough because this is a pretty standart speed for my crappy little fiat seicento. and when i rent a car i always push it until it wont go any faster. this is why i love germany!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Deutsche Autobahnen sind die besten (wenn es um Geschwindikeit geht)!!!!!!!!!

  • Actually, in the state of Virginia 20 OR MORE over the speed limit can and will be charged as reckless driving by speed. ALSO, driving 81 MPH or higher can and will be charged as reckless driving/speeding REGARDLESS of the posted speed limit and is a class 1 misdemeanor (same as DUI). North Carolina has similiar laws, as 16 MPH or more in excess of a posted limit of 40 MPH or higher can (officer's discretion) be charged as reckless driving to endanger which is a class 2 misdemeanor in N.C.

  • That is correct. 20 over is reckless driving in VA except in a 35mph zone where you have to be 25 over for reckless.

  • believe it or not there are a couple of 80 MPH limits on Interstates 10 and 20 in texas.

  • I have heard that, seems a lot more reasonable.

  • were i live its 110 - 120 km/h

  • is Spain is 120km/h(75mph) but you don´t get tickets if you keep it under 140km/h (87mph)

  • about the same forgiveness here but starting from a lower point. Anything over 80MPH is considered reckless driving which is about the same as DUI. The general rule is don't go more than 10 over and/or don't go over 79. It places the police in a difficult situation because in many places, everybody goes faster so it is left up to them which schlep they want to bag. My daughter went to Spain and she said they drive crazy, up on sidewalks and weaving in and out while honking.

  • reckless driving here is above 115pmh and can get you to jail on the spot (but not always) and they have to have a picture of your car going that fast. Used to be 145mph until last year :(

I guess your daughter went to the south :) there´s less honking the higher up north you go. But we do drive more "agile"...we don´t find that offensive passing on the right for example. Actually a cop usually would give the ticket to the guy on the left lane for not moving over for faster traffic.

  • May I compliment you on your laws and cops. They sound much more reasonable than they are here. I could never figure out why they have a 55 or 65 MPH speed limit on major Interstates way out in the middle of nowhere yet you can drive on a rural road and face oncoming and passing traffic and they limit is 55 MPH. Go figure. Yes, my daughter went to Madrid, loved it. My only surprize was when see commented on how much more freedom people in Spain have compared to here (US).

  • I´m from Madrid. And yes, all americans are surprised on how much more freedom we have. As unfortunately I was surprised when I wen to the USA with the opposite. Lived in Baltimore Texas and Miami for about 6 years. Great people, buta bit of a crazy society to me, too many laws, too tough and too many cops.

  • sorry for the very long delay on response. Yes, my daughter went to Madrid. Here in the USA, our freedoms have been eroded over a number of years. We have more cops than you can shake a stick at

  • It felt weird to leave the house and keep reminding yourself of all the laws (lot of them just let you with plain lack of freedom of choice) and all the cops watching etc. It didn´t feel right. It was this exact reason what at the end made me leave the country :(

people was great, the system...not that much

    come visit any time

    regards

  • and we are actually trying to get the speed limit raised to 140km/h, which is more believeable. The problem is not the speed, is the lack of resources in saving peoples lifes on roads with safer roads and better carash assintance. Germany is showing the whole world this and they are the reason why cars are not speed limited yet in Europe, but they are cracking down speeds now, I use to do 120mph 400miles trips with ease. Now you have to be alert with radars and undercover cars. No laser here

  • Reckless driving in TN is 30 or more over. So freeway reckless would be over 99 MPH LOL. I normally set cruise to 75.

  • here in aus most freeways are 110kmph, or about 70mph

  • Same in UK

  • It's good to see lane discipline! Too bad so many other people on the road don't do the same!

  • yeah, I know what you mean. I am in the right lane every minute I can be. Most people who get nabbed are in the fast lane.

  • 25 mph - in town, prudent and reasonable.

40 mph - usually single lane county road and in residential areas, very reasonable and prudent.

55 mph - multi lane roads, fall asleep speed, keep left and not right cause blowing the limit at 65, get pulled over and harrased by mafia family police that suppose to protect you, if you did go 55 blocking all lanes a huge bottle neck miles long will result but you'll get plucked from flow of traffic moving well at 70 mph and ticketed.

    Hypocrites.

  • oooohhhh 70 mph, well it's about time. Europe is 75-81 mph. Problem is, there are still zillions of miles of interstate highways on 55mph in 0 tolerance attitude states. The state police and their cronies are like mafia families terrorizing citizens, for the only reason of the dangerous speed limit of 55 that is arterficially set too low.

  • you got that right. The government makes a lot of money off the 55mph speed limit. The insurance companies but a lot of the radar and lidar guns for the cops so they write more tickets and the insurance companies can raise your rates. I all it a WIN-WIN-LOSE thing, they win, they win, you lose.

  • yup, that is the deal.. State has to make money somehow I guess.

  • Lol. What better way than to rob random people?

  • none that comes to mind

  • Those new fines are going to go anyway, because people are bitching so much.

  • So just ten over can get you reckless driving now? Jesus.

  • Thanks, I appreciate it.

  • Great video and driving
