  • he looked very tired.

  • i honestly... can not wait to meet him and see this young man perform late April. I am a young man who is 17. And i admit it. when i meet him. i will cry.

  • Best ending, best everything.

  • Evgeny Kissin eres un enfermo

  • Perfect.

  • ....and now let's stop joking and listen to the real virtuosity!.That's my favourite version.....but i am not Hungarian, so maybe i'm wrong .

  • Wonderful music. Thank you for the post.

  • For anyone who thinks of making a Yundi Li reference:

Look very carefully at the second top comment

  • Look how many likes there are. Yikes.

  • Music with some errors IS "perfect" music.

  • @juiceforjoe he would be in terrible depts and you could easily tell people with bad taste since every crap "musician" payed you.

  • Ой вэй, Женя! Шалом тебе, шалом! Наш Человек! Щоб мы все так жили, как он играет!

  • Кисин - лучший!!

  • my 3 fav pianists are kissin valentina and vladimir horowitz

  • I am convinced Kissin is not only best in the world but he's best for all the time since existence of recording.

  • Did anybody notice the people in the front of the audience are so captivated by him they are still standing during his performance? This guy is the best in the world. No contest.

  • Yundi Li still much better......and does not perspire as much.....no sweat and piece of cake for Yundi li

  • Ahhh ..!!! I'm blinded by awesomeness @.@!

PS : It nearly take his life at 4:00 to play this piano-rape-piece so pls respect that !!!

  • Kissin is amazing, as always :) I prefer Li Yundi's a little more because it's not as dry-- Yundi uses more pedal, it sounds more magical to me.. ^^;

  • he is so fucking sweat!!!!!!! :D I'm in love hahaha

  • Now, i will kill everyone here ....

    Psico hair!!!

  • @alexandros788 i've listen to yundi's interpretation, and : he makes 5 mistakes, among them, one in which we hadn't play 3 or 4 notes, and others at the end, and by the way he played the end slower than kissin...

  • 3:06

    sweat drops!

  • Granted he is extremely talented, it doesn't sound to me like there's a whole lot of emotion in this. Not as much as I've heard in other versions. I miss Okada Masaru's version, but for some reason I can't find it anywhere anymore :(

  • from 3:43 up to the end:AMAZING!

  • Pretty incredible!

  • At 4:02 you can see some of his hair fall off his head. Thats a hardcore pianist right there! Hahaha

  • Incredible! I'm a classical guitarist and I'm still inspired! XD

  • Wonderful performance. Thank you for reposting.

  • I can only play 0:15 - 0:25

  • someday I will play it just like that...whos with me?!!

  • I cannot even type my passwords that fast and flawlessly! Oh, such a brilliant performance! The clarity and shading is everything it could be, and the speed diminishes none of it. Others are good, this is great at the far edge of genius.

  • that's fuckin awsome! Fuck it all, got an eargasm :D normally i'm just hearin electronic but this is just bad ass!

  • Minor mistakes but somehow I like how he plays it...I don't think I like this song soft because well..it just doesn't seem like it should. How he plays it makes it very exciting and jumpy and I like it :)

  • Sounds a little bit dry. Check out Yundi Li's version. It works much better for me. Yundi's version flows much smoother with feelings.

  • Hes the eddie van halen of piano... nuff said

  • he did a lot of mistakes...

  • @alexandros789 please send us your performance with an audiance with this if possible.

  • @123Rorshach ahahahahahah...probably i would make ONLY mistakes, but i don't do concerts... if you listen to yundi li or lang lang's interpretation you can surely understand what i meant.

  • @alexandros789 So I watched Yundi Li's interpretation and I still prefer Kissin's. There were parts in Kissin's version that just made his interpretation more appealing to me than Yundi's. I guess it's personal preference ... If you don't mind me asking though can you explain where you see mistakes in this version? I listen to it and hear nothing that stands out as a mistake (Mind you I'm not a pianist, I play classical guitar).

  • @mugen404 mistakes are at 1.43, 3:24, 4:02 and there are others in the last 20 seconds. obviously still a very good interpretation, but when you propose so popular tracks the audience expects you to not make mistakes, even the most minor. if you listen to yundi li's version, you will not listen any mistakes. having said that, kissin remains for me an excellent pianist

  • @alexandros789 i love how people point out the mistakes as if they take away from the music. rubbish.

  • @oitotheworld23 First I did not call you "rubbish", and also want to say that maybe I've misunderstood me: this interpretation of "La Campanella" is wonderful for many reasons, but certainly mistakes make it less beautiful. why can i tell that Michelangeli is a much better pianist than me? because he has a divine technique, plays everything perfectly, but also because presses never a wrong note. the errors are important, and not a little.

  • @alexandros789 does michelangeli play this piece?

  • @kristoferfir i don't know. michelangeli in his tours played not famous pieces, and i have some recordings of beethoven, debussy and other important musicians played by him. due to the fact that Michelangeli played only songs of particular authors, always the same, he was accused of not having a vast repertoire, but his students have said that Michelangeli played excellently also authors he never played in concert. and I believe it!

  • @alexandros789 look, if you are going to analyze accuracy at a level that condemns this performance, then you are turning piano performance into a sport. accuracy should serve the purpose of the art and the music. accuracy for the sake of accuracy is worthless, this is why we don't like to listen to computer generated music.

  • @alexandros789 only perhaps michelangeli could play more accurately, and still pull off a convincing performance. and in general, I don't think he braved pieces like this, had limited repertoire and rarely recorded or performed. I think this fact is pretty well documented, kissin can pull anything out of his ass at any moment, and play it ACCURATELY ENOUGH, he is a genius

  • @kristoferfir i'm not telling that kissin is not a "monster" pianist,i just think that at that level you can't make so evident mistakes. i heard a lot of other music played by him,and i think he's really good. but don't compare him with Michelangeli,please... first he's italian like me, then he's the piano's GOD :D

  • @oitotheworld23 find me a more accurate performance than this!

  • @alexandros789 I wish I had your ear!

  • @grouchocatman ahahaha :-D

  • his hands are like he's being electric....so, i guess if you wanna play like him, electric yourself?

  • 4:03

    Fallen hair

  • @popomaka2008 Sweats too! Look at the back of his suit at the end of the video.

  • For someone who's never known.

4 years ago, this video was the most viewed "La Campanella" on Youtube. (more than Yundi's version, at that time) When you search "la campanella" this was in the top of the first page.

When this video reached about 1,000,000 views (while Yundi Li reached about 7-800,000) The video has been deleted.

It take years to appear in the front page again.

That is the reason why this video has only 100,000 views.

  • @dreamscantabile Great info. Learned a lot!

  • @dreamscantabile Yundi Li doesn't have more views cuz China blocked youtube.

  • @dreamscantabile thats pretty much useless info.

  • Well Played. But I feel that Li YunDi's interpretation is better :)

  • bonte ba

  • Bravo!!!!!

  • I like his chopin more

  • none of your opinions matter. if you played like Kissin, instead of criticizing, youd be where he is, and not giving your 'expertise' over the internet.

  • I liked the part from 0:00 to 4:31

  • oh my gosh, he is absolutely phenomenal. There is no one else who can portray liszt as well as he does!!!

  • sorry forgive my innocence...could i ask what's the name of this concert hall?

  • @Edmondemon If I'm not very mistaken (although I really might be, my eyesight or video quality isn't all that) but it appears to be the Royal Albert Hall?

  • Amazing, but a little too mechanical for my tastes.

  • in un punto ha sbagliato XD però è un grande XD

  • Ok, I am fairly convinced this is the best Liszt La Campanella of the modern times.. Maybe better than mr. Rubinstein's. Yevgenij Kissin = perfection.

  • @DRUNKyoungMan Oh, yeah. Rubinstein never recorded La Campanella. That whole video is a lie, and its poster did not give credit to the actual pianist.

  • Good playing, but I don't think this is up to par with Li's rendition.

  • amazing!

  • i think this is one of the rare tirmes kissin lost control on stage, pay attention to he last page, his brain doesn't follow his fingers...but that's still unbelievable!

  • Guy in the bottom left corner @ 1:25:

"Oh my, what did i just wake up to.... what's that under my foot?.....oh right Kissin (just the most technical pianist out there) is playing, maybe i should pay attention

    "

  • @sill3n have you ever hear o the idea that when you look down or close your, you can remove many visual distractions which inhibit ones ability to hear or pay attention? this is why many musicians, even rock musicians like MGMT close their eyes when playing...this is also why xtians close their eyes and look down when praying, its not b/c they are sleeping, they are trying to concentrate

  • sry but really many mistakes. net the best campanella version

  • @Mesyac itemize the mistakes plz

  • his hair fell at 4:02 ;D

  • 好辛苦啊~

    不斷流汗><

  • @zzafunz 穿忒多了估计

  • if you think this is the best version of la campanelle you havent seen yundi lis performance yet...

  • @Expection100 an you haevnt seen the version of Alicia de Larrocha yet.

  • @Expection100 I have seen. This one is better.

  • @chpatrik ....the best version is made by Valentina Lisitsa!! ;-)

  • Does anybody know where this is? is it the Globe theater in London?

  • @classicalop125best

    Royal Albert Hall in London.

  • his hair fell at 4:02 xD

and a lot of sweat at his back 4:20

    wonderful interpretation!

  • Bravo Evgeny!!!

I love the way you play La Campanella and all the music on the piano! You are so modest and that´s an invaluable virtue, one of the greatest!! Ich gratuliere Dir!! Weiter so!!

  • I agree with paolo, this is perhaps the best version on the Internet but this version really impresses me too! La campanella. Paganini-Liszt. Yuri Medianik (bayan) Юрий Медяник (баян)

  • C'est magnifique!

  • Bravo for playing, you play a lot. "La Campanella" is a very beautiful and very difficult part, by Bravissimo concert.

  • not a bad encore

  • @mxgirl918 Its in the LRSM list of repertoires. =)

  • 數不清的演奏家彈過 Kissin 的詮釋 真的令人激賞!尤其是部份細節的交待 心好像被捏了一樣

  • THE QUALITY OF MUSIC IS WITH HIM. THANKS BE TO GOD FOREVER!

    -from facebook page "A Pianist"

  • *cough* watch lang lang play liszt don juan paraphrase....

  • wow...anyone know what ABRSM would grade this? i bet it must be above Dip level

  • @mxgirl918 I do believe it's in the FRSM. After grade 8 you'd go onto the Dip. ABRSM, then LRSM, then finally FRSM. They're all performing diplomas. =]

  • @stevey226 no way... :-O

  • great pianism!!

  • I guess being an awesome pianist means you have to have a badass hairstyle.

  • @francissumague LOL this made me laugh so hard!!

  • i saw him live at the Barbican in London-- and i had a first row seat!!! he is truly unbelievable-- impossible to describe how amazing he is, both technically and artistically.

  • He makes me forget about playing and just go on listening to him instead.

  • wow 3:38 hes playing so hard sweat rolls of his face! his hands must be on fire!

  • Lindo, perfeito e emocionante!

  • Creepy good.

  • в общем, че хочет, то и делает и с роялем и с нами

  • He. Is. A. Beast.

  • amazing!!!!

  • Beautiful!!!!!

  • this guy is pretty insane on the ivory. No shit.

  • amazing finger work!! LUV this guys talent...WOW!!!!!

  • Glad this was put back. He plays it better then anyone I've heard.

  • 4:03

    breathtaking.

  • wow he was sweating like crazy...

  • campanella is in as moll, not in gis moll

  • Yes paolo7899!

This is truely the best version in the internet.

The quality is medium till godd. You can hear it loud with relatively good speaker system.

And by the way the interpretation of Evgeny is absolutely amazing.

    I like it very much.

  • sehr schön.

    from iraq

  • Wow! Kissin actually misses a note at 1:09...Nice to know that even the greatest are human! I would give a cherished part of my anatomy to be able to play like like Kissin. Nice Jewfro, by the way. What? They embrace it...

  • I swear this is my thousandth time watching this and it still blows my mind.

I <3 Kissin! Words cannot even begin to explain..

ps- How are the audience members not crapping their pants?

  • Never before have I cried to "La campanella", never before, yet Kissin sensible style provoked tears of the rare princess called Beauty!

  • oh holy crap! I listened to it for 8 times...this is UNBELIEVABLE...The best piano player every the humanity had for Liszt...His incredible technique and that crazy temperament - like a dynamite...Kissin is perfect for Liszt!!!

  • Beyond Perfection! Words can't describe!

  • BEST INTERPRITATION....

  • Comment removed

  • Täydellinen esitys !

  • hmm....yeah

  • presently he has to be the greatest pianist in the world

  • perfection!

  • the peoples reaction when he said hellplay this -> lol :)

  • "The gift of music"

  • THE best version i've heard.

a guy at my school played this last year and it was so rubbish i stopped liking the piece, but this interpretation makes my love it again :D

  • i can see the TAIL... HE'S NOT HUMAN, HE'S AN ALIEN!!

  • His hair also comes out if you look carefully. He is a genius giving it his all.

  • Haha 4:02-4:03 he shakes his head and sweat falls from his brow in droplets. Perfectly understandable; my entire body would fall apart if my hands were trying to do that.

  • @Drumstudly27

    just from the sheer emotion!!

  • masterpiece, no doubt.

  • incredible , if Liszt was alive he would've be proud of him

  • smooth

  • does anyone know how old kissin is in this?

  • @4huntboys

    i think his now 35

  • @VSKCREW

I totally agree with you. Im not putting him down or anything. I think hes an absolute genius!

  • I can listen to this all day!!

  • 2:36-2:55

i can't believe he played it that lightly, smoothly, and QUICKLY.

  • this is absolutely the BEST version of la campanella i've ever heard.

evgeny kissin's technique fits this piece well, absolutely stunning!!!!!

  • did anyone else hear his finger slip at 1:06-1:09?

I was just practicing my conducting to this song when I heard it and I was like: O_O

  • звучит как форшлаг полюбэ

  • @DiscreteSam93 I heard it.. But it's not unusual for them to slip sometimes.. This piece is really hard, and if you play 100 concerts a year, you'll have good and bad performances..

  • I am afraid everyone else heard the rest of the MUSIC. Songs go ask Christina Aguilera about.

  • wonderful performance.. 5 stars

  • Evgeny Kissin's video clip of La Campanella is the one that pulled me into the world of classical music. I used to listen to all the rock music in middle school, but a roommate of mine in my junior year in high school showed me the video, and that was it. Now it's been 2 years and a couple months I started playing piano, now I'm practicing Chopin Etudes, Scriabin Etudes and Beethoven Sonatas. But this is not the exact video, since this one was uploaded on February 2008.

  • Anyways, Kissin is my hero. I love you Kissin. I am amazed how much you've grown since your teenage performances. I loved your Chopin and Prokiviev at your concert I went to earlier this year. I hope you can become a legendary pianist of all time.

  • dude, that'sreally impressive if you've been playing for only 2 years and you're alreadly work on the chopin etudes!

    those are montrous pieces!

  • haha thanks. I AM having a hard time, but I'll keep up with my practices as far as I can take :)

  • He smashed it! incredible.

Beside this Valentina Lisitsa's interpretation seems a little workmanlike. Kissin's dynamics are wonderfully subtle, each note breathes on its own

  • Listz knew what he was doing when he transcribed this piece to the genre of the pianoforte. Kissin also knows what he is doing !

  • This is the BEST version of La Campanella on internet!!!!!

  • i prefer cziffra's version...

but this version is still amazing

  • Jawohl !

  • Really, a wonderful performance and an incredible talent. Nevertheless, it's uncomparable with the recording of Michelangeli, Fiorentino or Gavrilov.

  • @paolo7899 he is the best piano player alive at the moment (and since some years)

  • @paolo7899

It's a good version, but the best is from Josef Hofmann, it's impossible to reach him. Listen bevor rating.

    watch?v=hvhQRW9IuBA

  • @6lues6rother people,, please don't argue with their OWN OPINIONss,,, ur can't say which is the best

  • @paolo7899 ergo: the best in the whole world. =)

  • @paolo7899 You're True! I think too

  • @paolo7899 Check out Yundi's version. Kisson made a mistake precisely at 1:43
