we should stop fighting for land, power, and money. everybody suffers. i really wish people could see there is no reason to kill, or die. no proper justification.
i love this song, and Paul Potts has a fantastic voice that I never tire of hearing xox............such beauty in his voice, which usually sends shivers down my spine...
I'm Colombian and here there are so many died people for the war in specific places of my country, not in all country, but, seeing this video, I can see all bad things around the world and I thank God for my family, my friends, my beautiful country and I want share a beautiful of my country, because the news talking so bad of Colombia but really is not there.
Paul has a good voice and a inspiring story, but comparing him vocally to a Pavarotti or like is like comparing the Wright brothers plane to a modern jet.
I siad that your comparisons are poor because you were comparing singing with airplanes. Which made no sense to me. I cant rate Pauls operetta vocals because I am not educated in that field of music.
hmmm personally I think Paul Potts and Pavarotti are equivalent great singers in different ways, but technical wise, Pavarotti is WAY better, it is a fact, not an opinion AT ALL. Every single voice teachers would tell you that. But that make sense cause Pavarotti spend his whole life on that. I really like them both, enjoy listening them both, but I am not that "blinded" to love Paul Potts ignoring all the facts. Btw this is a fantastic version of YRMU, one of the best Ive ever heard.
"Technically better voice", but they are "equally great singers"? That seems like a contradiction to me. Your speaking of Pauls interpretation of the song? I can see this, since that is a very big factor in the amount of emotion we feel while listening. But that has nothing to do with with his physical voice.
I wrote this because people were comparing a great voice with a mediocre voice as if there is not difference. A better comparison would be with Groban, since both are not Opera singers.
hmmm well I am musical theater singer/actor, I am more focus on the storytelling of the songs instead of just the voice alone, but I also listen opera so I can tell the technical difference. Coz in general people's listening of music, if they don't get moved by the song/singer they don't care about the technical AT ALL. Having a great voice does not necessary make you become a better singer/performer unless you are performing in opera house, which really rely on pure acoustic of the house.
Speaking of Paul Potts "Nessun Dorma", which some ppl think it is as good as Pav, I think Potts' presentation is pretty moving but of coz that would fail if he performs that in an opera house due to his lack of training. But Pav isn't that great either in most of his performances for that song, his singing just does not have much "determined character" in it. I think for Nessun Dorma, the best is Franco Corelli, and YuQiang Dai is one of the best too (even though his italian is not good).
I'm not a huge fan of Pavs voice myself, I much prefer Corelli. For ease and lack of tensen Pav has no equal. Cor was a better actor/perf.
I agree with you that a great voice does not make a great singer or a moving performer. The greatest singers have both, this is very rare as great performers are much more common then great voices.I'm more of a opera guy(my brother sings opera professionally), but I also love Musical T. Opera is simple more vocally demanding, but acting still matters.
For Pavarotti I think these are several of his best performances:
Una Furtiva Lagrima (DUDE, this is really THE BEST, I think no one ever sing this one as good as he does): v=Fh2Vh8jwyQA
Pour Mon Ame (9 high C's sing fluidly): v=c6NkMeR2Z0M
And also some small arias in youtube. Mainly his lyrical stuff are far better. I guess the reason people think Potts and Pav are just as good voice is that Pav is not that great in singing Nessun Dorma, which they think is Pav's signature song (but it's NOT)
So overall I would say, they are equally great singers but NOT equally great OPERA SINGERS. "people were comparing a great voice with a mediocre voice as if there is not difference" -- we can do nothing for that anyway, just let it be, I am fine with that.
This was pure magic - until I happened to open my eyes at 1:14
PLEASE in the me of GOD, is there any possibility you would edit this wonderful video you created, of the majesty of Mr. Potts' voice, and REMOVE the embarrassment to my country, please?
Unless I have missed a bit of irony, which I hope is the case - then please accept my sincerest apologies.

Hey, don't we learn anything from this clip??? ? Stop picking and fighting among ourselves! If we keep all these craps up and we will all be gone soon!!!
Just my .02 c, but I think Pottsi IS in the same league. Pavarotti owns Nessun Dorma, but I think Bocelli, Pavarotti, and Pottsi are all wonderful human beings, and wonderful singers.
Hi, all. I will soon be removing all Paul Potts videos. The man is so successful and I already served my purpose of spreading the word about Paul. Thanks to all who visited this site but I will concentrate on other upcoming stars. Thanks!
Oh, please leave this one up- yes, the world now knows about Paul, but this video is a message for the whole world- it transcends the original purpose. This would in no way interfere with concentrating on other stars.
This is not just any video- it is a work of art. Please, please let this one stay!
I dont mean no disrespect towards your old folks, but they are absolutely wrong.
YOu can see that even in the title... "Por tí seré" is Spanish for "I´ll be for you"... Italian would be "Per te saró".. and every single word Paul sings in this song is definetely SPanish. If you seriously doubt it just google Por Tí Seré Lyrics, print it and take it to some Spanish speaker you may know, he or she wont have any problem reading it and confirming its the Cervantes´ language.
Great presention and wonderful rendition by Paul. God bless those brave soldiers who are waging the battle to save Western Civilization from the Islamofascists while the clueless leftists attack the commander in chief.
not good... look how the 18 years old Ricardo Marinello singing. The same song, but much better than Potts. And Ricardo never took a singing lessons...
I did look, Giuseppemarta, and I know you are partial to your countryman, but as a talent scout and manager of singers for many years, I can tell you that no one- NO ONE ever had a quality like the beautiful, golden velvet voice of Paul Potts. He has the power to make people weep at his feet.

When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.
