I am proud of my Scandinavian background as well, so glad that they added a Viking character. The only problem is that Vikings didn't speak modern day Swedish, Norwegian, or Danish, they spoke Old Norse. The people of Iceland and The Faroe Islands still speak dialects of that language, which is different than the modern Scandinavian languages.
@Lunarlilly I know in this video she dint but in the new season comming out they said his sisters gonna be in the show so I was wondering how she must of survived this to be in season 5
Does anybody else love the part at the beginning of the flashback where Eric is holding his infant sister? Big bad Eric Northman (I'm thinking season 1) cares about a little bitty baby. Dude....
my dad is 65 and on the palm of his hands on the pinkey fingers.theres big lumps he cant straighton the pinkeys out on his hands, doctors tell him it was common in vikings thay know this because of diging up vikings.the lumps get bigger with age.all the old men in my family have this. i saw this on tru blood it reminded me of what the doctors said. its crazy we are british but thought we were of irish roots, so looks we have viking blood spooky.u never know where your bloodline came from amazing
2:12 - What he really says is "Det enda du vill är att jag följer efter dig, som en svans!" and it means "The only thing you want me to do is follow you around, like a tail!"
cant believe thy killed Tara,Jesus,Nan Flanigan, off and Debbie Pelt it was only a matter of time..but WTF with Killing Tara off?..i mean you see her taking a round in the head, but still this is TB we are talking about, they will probably give her Erics blood & she will heal but have absolutely no memory of who she is..which in her case would be a good thing!..and they wont be coming back cause her memories were splattered all over the wall!.Jesus..eh..Nan..eh dont really care about them.
werewolves come from viking myth, but vampires are from slavic myth, would make more sense if he was polish instead of swedish, but doubt the girls would like him as much then!
I love the small Swedish/Scandinavian segments like this. I wonder if we'll get anymore in season 4 considering what happened to Eric in the last episode. :)
And it's good that Bill hasn't been forgotten and got another flashback in that episode.
I'm pretty sure that the baby would've cryed if it still had been alive.
*POSSIBLE SPOILER*
Also I seem to recall Eric saying "You slaughtered my entire family...for a couple of goats" or some such to Russell Edgington as they were bathing in the sun.
@MorgainLaFey Yeah, I like it too! Sounds like a finnish-ugri or seto choir... similar to the beginnig music of Anna Karenina (1997). But eather way - it sets the mood for mystery and old northen times, when the woods of the north were filled with shamans and people really belived in the supernatural. Gives you the feel of eternity that a fictional creature, in the likes of a vampire, sees and experiences. For ex. Russell - from 'dark' heathen times to iPads. Blows ones mind, doesn't it?... :D
@Albolu They obviously used Swedish because it's Skarsgård's mother language. But to be as historically correct as possible, they should've talked Icelandic instead.
