I agree that this is hyped weaver. "Information currency" seems like an enigma but there are already implementations I find very similar: take Microsoft points for example. You buy a nonphysical representation of money to exchange in their virtual marketplace. His ideal takes into account that this sort of currency is worth anything to the user... as a conversion from any sort of virtual money back to real money seems unlikly.
The real beneficiary is the monopolizer of the information currency which isn't actually worth anything unless there is another currency to to buy it. Information currency retains no value anywhere but in the relative market and because currency must hold a value I would argue that this isn't even really currency. Imagine what would happen if Microsoft paid employees in microsoft points! It ruins the conecpt of what a currency is... if I have to trade 10 Qdoba Quarters to 14.4 Nike Nickels.

I agree that this is hyped weaver. "Information currency" seems like an enigma but there are already implementations I find very similar: take Microsoft points for example. You buy a nonphysical representation of money to exchange in their virtual marketplace. His ideal takes into account that this sort of currency is worth anything to the user... as a conversion from any sort of virtual money back to real money seems unlikly.

The real beneficiary is the monopolizer of the information currency which isn't actually worth anything unless there is another currency to to buy it. Information currency retains no value anywhere but in the relative market and because currency must hold a value I would argue that this isn't even really currency. Imagine what would happen if Microsoft paid employees in microsoft points! It ruins the conecpt of what a currency is... if I have to trade 10 Qdoba Quarters to 14.4 Nike Nickels.

Well this sounds completely reasonable, and feesable. The people behind google and Facebook, and I think Twitter is bought by some media company, they were discussing this at the Sun Valley Media confrence in Sun Valley, Idaho. They have to find a way to make money off the internet. I think this system would have to be completely changed and rethought, but the system seems sound enough... Smart man, misconstrued though. Look at his subs though! =/.. weird.. He was battling demons.
