That's amazing. I had know idea the wings flex up and down that much or that quickly in turbulant winds. They were almost flapping. Little scary looking from the point of view of someone who is a regular passanger but knows nothing about aviation engineering (aeronautics).
Not trying to be a smartass and my knowledge of flying is limited to my father having been a USAF pilot as I was growing up but isn't this really just kind of the pilot doing his job? Although I am sure the landing was softer than 99% of the flts I have had landing in Mumbai or B'lore. Not the international flts but the flts within just local. found out a flt I was on Pune to Mumbai after a VERY I mean VERY scary landing had been I guess unlawfully used to test a pilots emergency procedures.
Talk about having the stones under pressure...this pilot shows great composure. Passengers on this plane probably didn't even realise how much talent was behind that stick that brought them back down safely. Well Done!
@11mrjarjar my dear friend, it is called crosswind landing....during fast and heavy winds.....the plane tends to drift away from the runway, if it is straight....so they try to go against the wind a little bit to align the plane .....so it lands on the runway not in the fields....hope this helps to increase ur knowledge a lill bit...take care
The guy, actually, is a superb pilot! He gets just down the 15ft windshear zone and alignes the gear to the strip at the last sensible moment. He made Michelin or Goodyear happy with his touch-down, sure, but managed to touch down regularly without stressing his passengersm certainly unaware about the thrift-conditioned alignment during strip approach.
@mottelelevi Agreed, except for the stressing the passengers part. I'm sure everyone on the right side of the plane shat their pants when they saw the runway out the right windows....
...and let's not forget those who put this tarmac in the right place, for if the strip had been put in another spot; then the pilot would have missed it! And those who delivered the bolts and nuts for the air controller's logic board just in time! But, eh, let's not forget that our biggest gratitude should go to the farmers who produced the carrots eaten by the pilot; without those he would have had bad eyesight and he could have misread his altitude!
@atthemiko well, firstly, the tail of the plane looks like SIA although u cant see it clearly but the color matches SIA's Logo. Secondly, the first level cabin section has the brown and blue stripe surrounding the windows are only seen in Singapore Airline's Planes. Anyways i have seen alot of SIA planes so im sure that the plane on the vid is SIA
Yes, when landing in a crosswind that is very normal. I find it fun too to go sideways now and then. When Gliding if I find myself too high on final approach I just throw in one of those, drop faster, then kick it out at the desired altitude.
Best Pilot ever....

Amazing - Just think of how many lives that pilot has in the palm of his hands - We get complacent at times when flying...great video!

Thats what the driver is paid to do isnt it? I think its more amazing how these aircraft are designed and built.
They can teach monkeys how to ride bikes but not fix them!
