@specialforces2263 If you have a wire coming from under the flywheel, you have a points system and that should attach to the coil somewhere. Hard to say without seeing it....
@specialforces2263 there usually are two wires from a coil pack on a points system engine. One wire goes to ground, the other goes up under the flywheel to the ignition points and condenser and sometimes there is a terminal for a kill wire..... hope this helps!
@nathanielnzl That is the governor air vane. When the shroud is on it, the air pushed by the flywheel that not only cools the engine, pushes against the engine to keep it at a constant speed. It also opens up the throttle when the engine bogs down to keep up. Make sense? Some governors are internal on briggs and tecumseh engines and run off of the cam shaft I believe. Thanks for watching!
Not to imply you are an idiot, but when you have the magnet 180 away from ignition module, why not pull module away from flywheel and tighten the 2 bolts? Then rotate 180 to get magnet at module. Insert business card. Loosen module bolts. Magnet will suck module into place. Tighten bolts, rotate flywheel as you remve card. Quick and simple! I am new to this small engine stuff, starting only in 1973, so maybe I don't know what I am talking about. Just trying to help.

A great help. The way I tried wasn't successful. Thanks.

@More350Power so is it necessary? will the engine run without it? cheers.

@nathanielnzl for the engine to run properly, yes. It keeps the engine from over revving and from stalling when a load is placed against it.

@More350Power thank for the info ;)
