The whole sting vs NWO angle was awesome. For over a year, no one knew where sting stood. He didn't speak on mic at all and made sporadic appearances. Earlier in the year at a ppv (I forget which) Sting shows up to beat the snot outta the NWO. That was huge...This whole time frame was the WCW (Sting) vs. NWO. Honestly, The NWO should've died out after Sting won the title.

Also I loved the concept of him coming out and testing guys, handing them the bat and turning his back to them. Great pyschology to see who supported him and all. Oh my goodness I remember watching this! I had goosebumps watching this that night! Sting's Character reminds me of The Undertaker with the Mind games.

Do any of you remember at one point The Ultimate Warrior was playing mind games with the NWO just like Sting was. He would disappear than be somewhere else with in 7seconds every time the lights would turn off.

I have never heard any other wrestler get the pops that Sting did back during his fued with the NWO. Even Steven Austin and The Rock didn't get the type of reactions he did. There was just something so damn goosebump-inducing about Sting's character back then, maybe it's because WCW wrote his character exceptionally well against the NWO.

Well that would be because while Stone cold's charactor was still growing he really didn't get big until 98 right before and after wrestlemana 14. The Rock was coming into his own in mid to late 98 but really didn't start getting big until after backlash 99 after he left the corperation. This happened in 97 so it is kinda unfair to compare. However once Stone Cold and the rock did get big they got much bigger pops then sting ever did and that is not really debatable.

But to be fair to Sting, he could have been just as big, if not bigger...but that's not what his character was based on. He wasn't a guy with a bunch of catchphrases, or even a ton of mic time...but he still was onf of the most over workers of the 90's (and even into today the guy gets huge pops).
