Heh, screen saver...disappointed that it didn't start from teh beginning, is this part 2?
But, jeez, space footage and pink floyd, thats a no brainer1 I remember, late seventies, wandering the earth a teenager, nothing to do, nothing to be, feeling the cosmos, man,
Pretty much, it's a shame 2001 didn't have a great storyline, because combined with the AMAZING special effects it had for its day it would've likely been a candidate for the best movie ever made.
@TheDarkFrontier Ah, but 2001 did have a great storyline: evolution, universal morality, entropy, limitless time and space. Kubrick infuses every scene with these concepts and drives home the point that, if we are ignorant of them, humanity is an insignificant speck in a vast universe. But when we understand and embrace them, we can be one of the most powerful forces imaginable.
Evolution, Universal Morality, Entropy, Limitless Time and Space is not a storyline. They are all themes. Look at the film objectively. Fuck all happens in pretty much every scene. Most of the scenes are either composed of ships going from A to B, or people going from A to B. Nothing of objective Human interest actually happens. 2001 relies wholly on subjective interpretation to actually make something out of it.
To diy, start the echoes track a slit second before the Jupiter... title appears. i time it be keeping the volume up on the original track. After dave fades, the audio continues, fades, then is abruptly cut. A split second (wait for it!) after that, unpause the Echoes track. If your cd player doesn't it may be slow by some few ms, but should be fine.
you got it right if the 3rd ping hits right after the Jupiter title cuts to the starfield.

you do know that science and logic doesn't diprove a higher power either It's the only rational explanation how the 1st cell formed since cells can only come from other cells and spontaneous generation has been disproven
Lmao fucking uneducated retard u are. An organic cell can be created just by having some water(H2O), C, H and under a high electric tention. It was proven that the first RNA were created like that. then those RNA reproduced, evoluted etc.
how do you know it that's acurrate cuz reallity is a trick that we play on ourselves and on eachother how do you know if that's actually true amybe it's in psychy (or how ever you say it) truthfully how do you know if anything is real, if you say because of your senses your dead wrong cuz even people have that in their dreams so how do you know what is a dream and what's real in all truthfullness you can't, nothing can be proven but your own existence
Okay... then how do you explain the existence of the higher power? Don't say "faith". That's a total copout. I can have faith that I am made of jello. That doesn't make it true.
@bronsonallen You forget that this is a culture that is perhaps 10-100 million years to billions of years ahead of people living on Sol-3 (Earth, Terra) in what we Earth people call the Year of Our Lord, 2010. (The Year We Make Contact)
Have you ever explored the inner workings of nature, evolution, Humanity, how everything is so perfectly suited to Earth's environment as a whole, ever looked up at the stars at night, or across a mountain range and thought, how could this not have been designed? If not, then the universe is the biggest coincidence there ever was. But something as simple as a pencil can't be created by coincidence,
@TheDarkFrontier If you wanna know a little about why what you are saying is a bit of a fallacy, look up Douglas Adams' "The Origin of God: Puddle's View"
The universe is fantastic, and thats no reason to diminish it with the idea that some superbeing made it all with a thought. ^___^
To be honest, if I were a religious person, I would be deeply offended by what you just said. Who are you to say that because what someone believes "diminishes" the universe? Judging by your stoic response, I'm guessing you read the books perpetrated by atheists, and ignore the ones by agnostics? Don't call my belief a fallacy, its my opinion. I suggest you take some time and actual consideration over your next response.
@TheDarkFrontier How is what I say offensive? I was polite and honest. It is a fallacy to be a species that evolved to suit an environment and then go "Wow isn't this world suited to me just perfectly?...how odd..must be made FOR me" All I did is refer you to a very interesting little monologue by a hilarious author. No need to bite my head off. Did you watch it?
Your comment was offensive because it blindly assumes that my belief is a fallacy, because it doesn't agree with yours, or that you haven't taken the time to think through what I was actually attempting to put across. I suggest you re-read my original statement. People nowadays are so quick to take religion, spirituality or intelligent design at total face value, without attempint to make something of it.
What frustrates me, is that nobody would take an English contemporary historian's account on the Battle of Agincourt at face value. Why? Because it will be highly exaggerated, and chances are it would have been modified over the years. So why are people so quick to take religious texts, the Bible, the Koran etc, at face value, accept everything that is said and then reject them? Why? Why can't they seem to see that religious texts could have been modified also?
This is entirely my point. Atheists like yourself are so quick to resort to things such as that, insults etc, without even ATTEMPTING to embrace what others are trying to say. Do you pursue that approach in all avenues of your life? Only extend your ears and your mind to people willing to agree with you? And yes I can explain that actually, its called the Moon's gravitational pull on the Earth that causes tide.
@TheDarkFrontier I don't embrace unicorns, or other imaginary things. "Yeah but who made the moon? YOU CANT EXPLAIN THAT!" We could go on all day, and thats all you'd have to argue. Universe is complex therefore god exists. Its silly.
I fail to see what your point is in all this "you can't explain that" bullshit. And now you're resorting to childish levels. Arguing the existence of unicorns is far different than arguing the existence of intelligent design. I can explain the creation of the moon; leftover material from the sun conglomerating together. Let me propose one for you; what came before, and what triggered the big bang? You can't explain that.
@TheDarkFrontier lol ok... you see this is what I was making fun of you for. That eventually you'll just go to the frontiers of scientific discovery and say 'YOU CAN'T EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED BEFORE THAT'. Bill Oreilly did the same thing on his TV show, but he went to the extent of his science knowledge (the tides... loliknorite?). Its called 'God of the Gaps' and its silly.
So you admit you were making fun of me, when you infact first claimed you were being honest and polite?
Also, that was my point from the beginning, that science has not yet proven nor disproven the existence of a God, or something on a higher plain of intelligence than ourselves. What I believe is Humans are incapable of accepting there are some things in the universe beyond our limited understanding and capacity. Scientists themselves have acknowledged this fact.
No, we don't know what is really out there you're right, but I use the arguments for intelligent design, be that a "God" or whatever. To be fair, God or God-like figures could be somekind of non-corporeal entity that we have not yet discovered or trully mastered how to contact yet. What I mean, and what you also mean is; we can never know. So many wonders and so little we know eh? =]
Try and deny the existence of a higher power then. Be that a "god", aliens on a higher plain of intelligence or whatever. Don't try and say science either. Science as of yet, has not disproven the existence of a higher intelligence.
Wow I really thought you were moderately intelligent when you responded to me the first time. As I said in my other post, you are just resorting to childish levels, which to be honest doesn't reinforce your position, it makes you look stupid, like a child having their sweets taken off them. Invisible spaghetti monsters and intelligent design are totally different. But for some reason, you fail to see that.
@TheDarkFrontier Oh I'm quite intelligent, a graduating history major this year. And I know my shit. ^__^ But I also don't have any patience online...like anyone these days does..amirite?
If he should have to explain his faith in a higher power, you should have to explain "dark matter". We'll all hold our breath. Catch my drift? To each his own man.. To each his own..
Until we address these questions, soothsayers will continue to expand their consciousness through rituals despite the establishments conditioning against such practices.
In interpret all this ending colour as the internal journey taken by Dave as his conciousness is enhanced by the alien device. People have oft talked about the placement of conciousness within oneself and many have stated that they have left themselves to float freely, implying that one's being is not constrained to the body. For me, that's what happens to Bowman at the very end; the starchild is his freed consciousness.
Well, what can definately be observed is the big bang and the expansion of the universe and the forming of galaxies as well as suns. Then we fly above above some kind of valley and later the ground seems fluid.
I interpret that Bowman really receives the full knowledge of everything and although he has all the knowledge about the universe, his existence is still not unlimited and he dies. But the film leaves it open if death really is the end or just another step into a larger world.
the black block symbolises the unknown, and that we all die before understanding a greater meaning or purpose in life. for some people that unknown is god, and at the end of life, the real mystery is in fact life itslef
the monolith is a machine built by intelligent beings. it's cool you think what it means.. but in the movie/book, it's actually those beings in a machine form. it wasn't until millions of years later, they found out how to become immortal.. ie the star child that dave bowman becomes.
My personal interpretation of the room sequence means, that regardless of how adept we become with technology and tools, we all go through the cycle of life and that is one of our boundaries. the second boundary is space itself, the walls of the room represent the universe. no matter how far we go we will be inside it.
Echoes was allegedly written by Pink Floyd when they got an advanced copy of the film. The story I guess is that it was written as a soundtrack of sorts to Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite, which explains why he timing it so precise, and it seems to fit perfectly.
lol guitar sound, well that happened to me at the vid Pink Floyd Us And Them, right at the beginning of the vid, I swore I heard Robert Plant... The first vid when you write Us and them on youtube...
...i'm a bit lost... i thought that the man with the black clothing was a kind of God, but my cousiness told me not...and by the way who's that old mas that appears in the bed ???
Please tell me something because i don't get it yet, and how i'm a Pink Floyd lover i wolud like to know...thanks ^^
here´s what Kubrick said (from wikipedia): You're free to speculate as you wish about the philosophical and allegorical meaning of the film — and such speculation is one indication that it has succeeded in gripping the audience at a deep level — but I don't want to spell out a verbal road map for 2001 that every viewer will feel obligated to pursue or else fear he's missed the point
okay... the only way to understand is to read the book, but even the book is confusing, there was a greater force that was giving him all the knowledge at one shot, and then the greater force realized it was too much for him. So it put him in a place where he could relate things, relax calm down, but where he was had no time, no meaning, it was kinda all against the matters of science, this is a world where this new guy who entered it, didn't understood shit from what was happening.
so the guy in black is all the same guy, in the book it's written, "all humans grow old and die, all living dies sooner or later..." But in this other world there was no meaning, so all at the same time, he was born, growing, teen, adult, old man, dying and dead... confusing, ha? The greater force were trying their best to make him understand, but it was impossible, it's like us humans trying to communicate with an ant, exactly! So it would be impossible, right? So...
so the greater force/forces or thing/things, didn't knew what to do with him. So they put him in a place, where he could understand what he is in (a room, a bedroom, etc.). The greater force/forces or thing/things knew everything, but just didn't knew how to make this weaker force into a greater one, to communicate with the weak... So they greater "BEINGS" (Yes, that's how it is in the book, he said greater beings!) were not perfect, but just greater than us. I hope you understand, lol!
You can read my comment VV, or ^^, depends if comment doesn't bug up and act as if it was an normal comment... Anyways that comment was a part from the book.. the comment that ends with So...?... Anyways I was just telling you, that comment is about what was happening to him in this video, planets you see here might not be planets as the greater beings see it...
man...Pink Floyd is my life... this song is the best ever... the story wants to tell about the guy traveling in the space trhough the dimension and in the end, he meets a guy that was supposed to a kind of God...

Lmao fucking uneducated retard u are. An organic cell can be created just by having some water(H2O), C, H and under a high electric tention. It was proven that the first RNA were created like that. then those RNA reproduced, evoluted etc.
U r a retard, or u just didn't go to school?
Zynche 2 years ago
how do you know it that's acurrate cuz reallity is a trick that we play on ourselves and on eachother how do you know if that's actually true amybe it's in psychy (or how ever you say it) truthfully how do you know if anything is real, if you say because of your senses your dead wrong cuz even people have that in their dreams so how do you know what is a dream and what's real in all truthfullness you can't, nothing can be proven but your own existence
Traductus5972 2 years ago
Okay... then how do you explain the existence of the higher power? Don't say "faith". That's a total copout. I can have faith that I am made of jello. That doesn't make it true.

you can't hence why i'm an agnostic

@bronsonallen You forget that this is a culture that is perhaps 10-100 million years to billions of years ahead of people living on Sol-3 (Earth, Terra) in what we Earth people call the Year of Our Lord, 2010. (The Year We Make Contact)
Beamshipcaptain 1 year ago
@bronsonallen But I am made of Jello. Just drop some acid, put on the Floyd and it all comes together. Jiggle, jiggle.

@bronsonallen
But something as simple as a pencil can't be created by coincidence,
TheDarkFrontier 1 year ago
@TheDarkFrontier If you wanna know a little about why what you are saying is a bit of a fallacy, look up Douglas Adams' "The Origin of God: Puddle's View"
The universe is fantastic, and thats no reason to diminish it with the idea that some superbeing made it all with a thought. ^___^
Floyd forever.
bartsucks 1 year ago
@bartsucks
TheDarkFrontier 1 year ago
@TheDarkFrontier How is what I say offensive? I was polite and honest. It is a fallacy to be a species that evolved to suit an environment and then go "Wow isn't this world suited to me just perfectly?...how odd..must be made FOR me" All I did is refer you to a very interesting little monologue by a hilarious author. No need to bite my head off. Did you watch it?
bartsucks 1 year ago
@bartsucks
TheDarkFrontier 1 year ago
@bartsucks
TheDarkFrontier 1 year ago
@TheDarkFrontier ok I give up. Youtube is not the place for debate. You sound like Bill O'reilly
TIDE GOES IN, TIDE GOES OUT.
YOU CAN'T EXPLAIN THAT.
bartsucks 1 year ago
@bartsucks
TheDarkFrontier 1 year ago
@TheDarkFrontier I don't embrace unicorns, or other imaginary things. "Yeah but who made the moon? YOU CANT EXPLAIN THAT!" We could go on all day, and thats all you'd have to argue. Universe is complex therefore god exists. Its silly.
bartsucks 1 year ago
@bartsucks
TheDarkFrontier 1 year ago
@TheDarkFrontier lol ok... you see this is what I was making fun of you for. That eventually you'll just go to the frontiers of scientific discovery and say 'YOU CAN'T EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED BEFORE THAT'. Bill Oreilly did the same thing on his TV show, but he went to the extent of his science knowledge (the tides... loliknorite?). Its called 'God of the Gaps' and its silly.
bartsucks 1 year ago
@bartsucks
TheDarkFrontier 1 year ago
@TheDarkFrontier Dude, I know. Its just you cant assume what youd like to hope is out, IS OUT THERE.
What we don't know yet, we don't know. And until we do, that doesnt mean we can just make wild guesses without evidence.
bartsucks 1 year ago
@bartsucks
TheDarkFrontier 1 year ago
@bronsonallen
Try and deny the existence of a higher power then. Be that a "god", aliens on a higher plain of intelligence or whatever. Don't try and say science either. Science as of yet, has not disproven the existence of a higher intelligence.
TheDarkFrontier 1 year ago
@TheDarkFrontier ROFL, disprove invisible spaghetti monsters, YOU CANT.
QED, God is real, and so is everything that is also invisible. ^___^
bartsucks 1 year ago
@bartsucks
TheDarkFrontier 1 year ago
@TheDarkFrontier Oh I'm quite intelligent, a graduating history major this year. And I know my shit. ^__^ But I also don't have any patience online...like anyone these days does..amirite?

In interpret all this ending colour as the internal journey taken by Dave as his conciousness is enhanced by the alien device. People have oft talked about the placement of conciousness within oneself and many have stated that they have left themselves to float freely, implying that one's being is not constrained to the body. For me, that's what happens to Bowman at the very end; the starchild is his freed consciousness.

Wrong song, right film.
Movie Chapter 21, songs SPEAK TO ME/BREATH and ON THE RUN
Chapter 22: Entr'acte. During the Interact, my friend would SPEAK TO ME and Frank would BREATH.
At 01:27:39 of the movie, I play my I-Pod, and then: BYE BYE FRANK, HELL-O DAVE!
(I've been mad for years about von Braun's theory.)
Can someone remake this and call it (von Braun's Magic Spell)?

Well, what can definately be observed is the big bang and the expansion of the universe and the forming of galaxies as well as suns. Then we fly above above some kind of valley and later the ground seems fluid.
I interpret that Bowman really receives the full knowledge of everything and although he has all the knowledge about the universe, his existence is still not unlimited and he dies. But the film leaves it open if death really is the end or just another step into a larger world.

the black block symbolises the unknown, and that we all die before understanding a greater meaning or purpose in life. for some people that unknown is god, and at the end of life, the real mystery is in fact life itslef
teleport87 3 years ago
have you read the books??
the monolith is a machine built by intelligent beings. it's cool you think what it means.. but in the movie/book, it's actually those beings in a machine form. it wasn't until millions of years later, they found out how to become immortal.. ie the star child that dave bowman becomes.
BluethBiceth 3 years ago
Well Kubrick left the movie completely open to interpretation, think what you want, the books really don't matter that much.
achilleslaststand10 3 years ago
My personal interpretation of the room sequence means, that regardless of how adept we become with technology and tools, we all go through the cycle of life and that is one of our boundaries. the second boundary is space itself, the walls of the room represent the universe. no matter how far we go we will be inside it.

Echoes was allegedly written by Pink Floyd when they got an advanced copy of the film. The story I guess is that it was written as a soundtrack of sorts to Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite, which explains why he timing it so precise, and it seems to fit perfectly.

here´s what Kubrick said (from wikipedia): You're free to speculate as you wish about the philosophical and allegorical meaning of the film — and such speculation is one indication that it has succeeded in gripping the audience at a deep level — but I don't want to spell out a verbal road map for 2001 that every viewer will feel obligated to pursue or else fear he's missed the point

okay... the only way to understand is to read the book, but even the book is confusing, there was a greater force that was giving him all the knowledge at one shot, and then the greater force realized it was too much for him. So it put him in a place where he could relate things, relax calm down, but where he was had no time, no meaning, it was kinda all against the matters of science, this is a world where this new guy who entered it, didn't understood shit from what was happening.
LinkBulletBill 3 years ago
so the guy in black is all the same guy, in the book it's written, "all humans grow old and die, all living dies sooner or later..." But in this other world there was no meaning, so all at the same time, he was born, growing, teen, adult, old man, dying and dead... confusing, ha? The greater force were trying their best to make him understand, but it was impossible, it's like us humans trying to communicate with an ant, exactly! So it would be impossible, right? So...
LinkBulletBill 3 years ago
so the greater force/forces or thing/things, didn't knew what to do with him.
LinkBulletBill 3 years ago
You can read my comment VV, or ^^, depends if comment doesn't bug up and act as if it was an normal comment... Anyways that comment was a part from the book.. the comment that ends with So...?... Anyways I was just telling you, that comment is about what was happening to him in this video, planets you see here might not be planets as the greater beings see it...
