Hehe, my first cockatiel used to walk over to my first dog, and climb up on her bed, then on her, then on the garbage can to get to the mirror where he could see his reflection. My dog was afraid of my tiel, though, but this kind of reminds me of that.
PLEASE IF YOU OWN BIRDS AND CATS DO NOT LET THEM INTERACT; CATS HAVE BACTERIA ON THEIR TEETH AND CLAWS THAT WILL KILL YOUR BIRD IF IT'S SKIN IS PUNCTURED. I SAW MY COUSIN'S BUDGIE DIE IN HER HANDS AFTER THEIR CAT POUNCED ON IT AND THERE WAS ONLY A TINY PINPRICK FROM ONE CLAW - DO NOT LET CATS AND BIRDS BE TOGETHER!
my cat & tiel got along just like yours until yesterday.... thank goodness the bird flew away! they were best friends for 9 years~ now they have to be monitored when she is out of her cage :(
you never know with cats.......he's 14 years old & just started chasing birds! i lov them no matter what.
It would be even more amusing to see this climbing to some suitable piece of music instead of the TV-sound, but it is also rather funny that the TV is talking of a journey up to a space station while the cockatiel is making its journey up to the cat`s head.
my moms cat was the same way ^-^ he would let all 4 of my birds climb on his back while he was sleepin...bless his heart... R.I.P Moris, you will be missed T~T
Actually she really loved the birds and would usually purr when they sat on her - especially if they preened her ears. She just wasn't quite in the mood for it when this was filmed.
I don't actually have any experience with training a kitten to leave a bird alone. My cat was a 16-year-old tired and slow old lady when we got the birds. She never went outside or learned to hunt and was even afraid of bugs! She also wore Soft Paws claw caps, which is a MUST for your kitten. Kittens are so full of energy and I won't even try it myself. I recommend researching the web and asking a seasoned avian vet for guidance on how to safely get kitty and bird used to each other. Good luck!
@guleslionrampant USUALLY docile lazy indoor cats will not attack them. Mostly feral cats will. I have a docile cat who is very very mellow and he lets the hampsters walk on him.
I upload videos of both my birds (Fabian has a brother, Elvis, who is also featured in many of the videos on my channel) from time to time. Not sure when I'll next do so. Thanks for enjoying Fabian's antics -- he's a little maniac! I really should have named him Ozzy...
Cool :) I'll be getting a Cockatiel soon, but I've only got enough for the cage. I still need to do more saving for toys, food etc. Once I've got ALL the goods I'll be uploading some vids ^__^ I can't wait
Learn to relax and maybe you'll live a bit longer yourself. And, incidentally, my avian vet has only seen two cases EVER of that happening, and it involved deep scratches. When I inquired about possible danger, she explained that bird and cat interaction is safe enough if the cat is non-aggressive and they are supervised. My cat loved our birds and never, ever touched a paw to them, she knew to only gently sniff. She passed away two months ago anyway, so leave me alone about it, for God's sake.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! Annabella was 16 when I got Fabian and his brother, Elvis. At that age she was a little old lady without any desire to swat at them. The birds little by little got closer to her and eventually would climb up and sit on her, sometimes preening her ears, which she quite liked. Sadly she passed away in August at 18. We still miss her horribly.
Thanks, and sorry about your cat too. If I do get another, it won't be for a long time. It's just too soon - grieving process and all. Also, introducing a new cat to birds is always tricky, so I don't know if I want to mess with that or not. Time will tell......

I imagined the bird going "WOOOHOOO!!! WOOOOOOHOOOOOO!" while on top of the cat. It's gone against the food chain and acquired an epic mount.

a little cat scratch or saliva can kill the bird, harmful bacteria cats have, although we are immune to it, birds are not.
