does anyone get the feeling that bill evans is letting a sour mood enter the song? It's not beautiful love is it? It's almost as if bill is tired of the old love cliches and he's just playing like a trained monkey forced to play for the crowd... it's great stuff, it's amazing how bill can get such nuanced emotion from piano keys
@unknownartist1986 if it's "sad to see a musician like this" then I guess its sad to hear miles crack a note like he did on practically all of kind of blue tracks. Its part of the music man. Learn to understand it.
@jazzmasta92 I just learned that all of Miles's cracked notes were really his way of signalling his group that they were speeding up (or some other infraction).
@unknownartist1986 not really that uncommon of a trap to fall into for a bassist.... the pianist decides to trade 4's or 8's with the drummer and the bassist doesn't get the memo.... haha.. great vid though
In my opinion NHØP and Lafaro were the best bass-players Bill Evans ever played with. They complemented his ideas like few( if any) bassists would have been able to. The others he played with( Eddie Gomez, Chuck Israels etc) were great too, but (as I see it) not quite at the same level as these two. Thanks for posting this amazing clip, it is much appreciated!
@supahsekzy I think the main reason was because Niles didn't like to fly at all; he very seldom came to the US, preferring to stay in Europe. I'm sure Bill would have recorded more often with NHOP. I also wonder if Bill's addiction also was a factor - he went through a lot of bass players in his career (although I always got the feeling that NHOP understood as well as anyone what Bill was trying to do musically.)

Even if one was somehow totally piano-deaf one could still tell by his bassplayers that he was an ultimate cat.

@maquih I think its more amazing how two listeners can find something completely different in a single performance. (i disagree with you)

@maquih I respect your opinion. Even though I disagree, I'd like to know how you arrived at this impression.

@unknownartist1986 That's called "trade 4" not mistake, mate

@pongsanh i know what's trade 4 but i think he simply forgots that it's the drum solo part. but either way NHOP rules!:-)
