Delilah is incidental. Samson's real downfall was pride and weakness for flesh. That's why Lust is a Deadly Sin. Every Biblical hero ever, except for Jesus, had the same problem because they were all MEN.

One thing, Delilah in the original story got a MAN to cut Samson's hair while he slept. She didn't cut it herself but basically the same result.

Secondly, she was a spy, or someone who was called upon to spy by her country's government. So she didn't really betray Samson, she was doing her patriotic duty. It's called "The Honeypot Trap".

Samson should have been smart and stayed away from the Philistine women PERIOD. Why sleep with your enemies, no matter how pretty they are.
