I really think this is going to ruin the style of this game. I like the fact that this game is so serious, and that ridiculous noob behavior is discouraged in the chat rooms. I don't see that happening if people are able to stand around idly in the stations.
Coming from a game like Wow.....and seeing EvE...plus this.....it's just amazing....no words...hats of to the producers and developers.Awesome content and i will defenetly make Eve my favourite MMO.

Yeah it may get boring after a while.... But so does everything eventually and I think theres gonna be crafting mechinics and ways to make money so its not so pointless just for a different kind of player... LIke why there making dust as a FPS =P

Ok so i have been with eve for a while but i am just now watching the 2008 fan fest when iis walk in stasions coming out cause i mightbe able to make money fast off 1 and if i own a pos will it be able to be walk in and will i be able to rent things out to people like the little slots that the bar was in and do i get to keep 20% or any money from the little bord games that u can bet in since it is my stasion?????

eve, being the best mmo on the market, sways toward the technical vice the wow-like simplistic necessities which any moron could understand. eve's community reflects a mature nature. while in wow u frequently deal with immature/juvenile individuals.

More developers should take their example. You already pay to play the game, so to me it's absurd to pay EXTRA for content that I already pay for. That would only make sense for a non-subscription game.
@Fighting in stations: The concept wouldn't be entirely hard to fix. I mean, shit, who says that you always have to die when you get into a fight? You don't need to use your clone, you know? You could use medical stations that people go to, a jail of some kind of attackers, the like. Personally I like the idea of being able to knock someone square in the jaw while you walk around.
@Walking in stations: Fucking win, but what if I one upped you? Walking in your ship. First person cockpit view.
@Fighting in Stations: Yeah, i was thinking about how they would do the death penalty of dying during that, would be the equivalent of being podded most likely.

all of there expansions are free...they have NEVER charged for expansions...and hopefully they will never change that...its the reason we all love EvE so much.
They dont create expansions in the traditional sense. Every once in a while CCP releases a major upgrade to the game (new graphics, new gameplay etc). These upgrades each have individual names and are referred to as Expansion. They are, as you say, free :).
btw i just wanna say that I'm impressed by eve online in that they are always updating it and adding new features in the making. nowadays quality mmorpg's like this is rare .
CCPGAMES is the official utube account for eve online (duh) and they are prob a 'utube partner' or something similiar to that which means that they get to upload longer vids than us regular nubs. =)

I reckon that with the new walking in stations thing, There should be a med bay and when you go to plug in implants theres lots of mechanics and you get strapped in. I also think that this should be in First person view as you should have a cool Eyepeice that pops down from the top of the screen and then have lots of information, Then when you wanted to look at the market or fit your ship, A big transparent green screen comes from the left to the right. That would make it more Roleplay realistic
It isn't "stupid." It is a hellish lot of work for not much, but it makes the whole thing both more attractive to the most reluctant players (aka those who don't imagine a mmo where you have no "body") and more consistent on every level. Besides everyone sometimes want to just sit there and look pretty.
the issue with fighting in stations is there will be no safe haven no matter where you go and 90% of EvE will be docked up and fighting where the game is meant to take place in space not a station
As long as they don't allow in-game fighting I like the idea. If anyone wants that, CCP should create a new game, where you import an EVE online char to a first person MMO, instead.
id like to see fighting in the stations too, but with concord stopping anyone from dying inside a station. otherwise, a player whos been on for 2 years gets shot in the head by a player whos been on for 2 minutes... thats kind of dumb
good idea. i think the lower the sec, the seedier the station should be too. like a 1.0 station would be all nice and clean, a 0.5 would be a little dirtier, and a 0.0 sec station would be the kind of place you wouldnt bring children...
maybee but with the option of being taken too a med bay or summin, instead of dieing and loosing all ur inplants without being to fight like you would outside a stion.
A station is a station, there's a station owner, so there should be police and law enforcement.
No in station fighting imho, unless with heavy penalties, a.k.a. prison :)
We don't need a first person shooter attached to EVE (I bet there are other MMOs around if you like that), we just need something different from what we can do in space.
I think the prison idea would be a great idea. If you got sent to prison, your character would not gain skill points for that time, or something along those lines.
Of course they won't put fighting into stations. As this clip shows, it will just be an interactive version of what stations already are. My point was basically that a blaster fight in a station would be absolutely badass... of course with severe penalties.
I anticipate this enviroment with great pleasure, but I realise it takes time to get it polished, as all good things do. SO yes, CCP rock on, and keep delivering great things.

An Idea would also be that you Hire NPC's to play the stratagigames... for money. So players can come in and gamble (obviously put limits on it) have the difficulty level of the bot on display (harder bots would also cost more to hire)
poker, stratagy games, small item quest and bars? man i hope the drinks and smokes are consumable and we can see our guy drink and stuff. maybe sit at a table or bar and relax. though i am worried about how much buying a drink would be, cause if it cost 3 mil ISK to get a budwiser i'm leaving that bar
actualy another thought crossed my mind. you know how they been thinknig of trying the player houseing in EVE like in other games like PSU or FFXI or something? why not just use those rooms we get in the stations there? we can give it a new color, a table here, small ship models and guns hanging off the wall. some ore on the table and a potted plant and some paintings of other planets or space or that asshole's head that shot my ass. :D
It also seems like people would use the stations as an outlet when they are bored. Also with as many stations as there are in the game it seems like most would be completely empty.

I'm a bit sceptical towards the whole concept. But if they add gambling applications and suchlike it could be fun. You could add content for smuggling and suchlike aswell.
I really like the look and feel of the station environment, but I couldnt help but notice that it seemed empty. I would think something as large as a station would have many people living in it most of which would probably not know how to fly a space ship but rather be the people who live and work in the station. I would hope we would get to see such characters roaming the stations halls to add interest. Maybe enough interest so that "people watching" could be something you can enjoy in eve too.
By that I mean have npcs going around doing thier jobs. Like janitors, security guards, maybe the occasional off duty ship mechanic visting the bar, ect. But more than that too. Maybe make it so certain unexpected events can happen... Maybe a janitor forgets to leave a wet floor sign over an area he has mopped and some one slips, or maybe a drunken bar patron stirrs up trouble and the security guard has to step in and handle it... these things can happen at random to add interest to station life
Well, this will give ppl things to do while station camped, besides staring at their ship. I like the idea of player made NPCs / missions, a lot of the game's recent history is 100% player made, why not? Only problem is that it could get a little MUCK-y / Second Life-y.
Gambling for ISK, people already do this, might as well legitimize it and bring it in game. Mini games sound cool too, if nothing else it'll give the developers & players a chance to work on something less stressful.
Well, customizable environments and user generated content isn't a bad thing, as long as there's thematic limits that allow you to avoid the particular kind of "social disease" ridden type or ppl that gives SL a bad rap.
In other words, I doubt we'll have a problem w/ "#@%^ing furries ruining everythng" or "dong cannons" or"bouncing multiplying "jell-owned" cubes in eve.

Mini-game at 45:00... wtf, wrong direction ! Who cares!! Add gameplaty usefulness first and foremost.
49:30 Character customization, manufacturing and customization of the station environments : who cares? There's no Eve gameplay there. Players won't give a shit. It's not a dolls-house game FFS.
If stations are just a glorified chat channel for a few select users (few people are in one station at a time) it will be useless.
Alright the graphics are great but what about the added gameplay? If they dont focus on this aspect these beautiful station-walking areas will be underused.
Who needs station walking in terms of gameplay? Social meeting places are alright, but it doesnt cut it : it's not enough at all. There has to be a shitload of gameplay usefulness to all that jazz or it will fail.
I love it how people simply still believe that WiS is planned for release in March. WiS doesn't have a release date yet. Devs are HOPING for winter 2009, but that's no guarantees.

and don't forget to mention the 'evil lair'/'secret meetings' factor that you can have with a corporate office.
I can see corporate meeting being held in a boardroom, with the CEO at the head of the table.
Everyone has their cool characteristics and clothing and afterwards you're gonna get a cold beer and play a game in the bar.

the issue with fighting in stations is there will be no safe haven no matter where you go and 90% of EvE will be docked up and fighting where the game is meant to take place in space not a station

As long as they don't allow in-game fighting I like the idea. If anyone wants that, CCP should create a new game, where you import an EVE online char to a first person MMO, instead.

id like to see fighting in the stations too, but with concord stopping anyone from dying inside a station. otherwise, a player whos been on for 2 years gets shot in the head by a player whos been on for 2 minutes... thats kind of dumb

good idea. i think the lower the sec, the seedier the station should be too. like a 1.0 station would be all nice and clean, a 0.5 would be a little dirtier, and a 0.0 sec station would be the kind of place you wouldnt bring children...

A station is a station, there's a station owner, so there should be police and law enforcement.
No in station fighting imho, unless with heavy penalties, a.k.a. prison :)
We don't need a first person shooter attached to EVE (I bet there are other MMOs around if you like that), we just need something different from what we can do in space.

I think the prison idea would be a great idea. If you got sent to prison, your character would not gain skill points for that time, or something along those lines.
Of course they won't put fighting into stations. As this clip shows, it will just be an interactive version of what stations already are. My point was basically that a blaster fight in a station would be absolutely badass... of course with severe penalties.

I know I'm gonna have my own strip joint! Anyone up for a lap dance? It costs big ISK to get into the private rooms.
An Idea would also be that you Hire NPC's to play the stratagigames... for money. So players can come in and gamble (obviously put limits on it) have the difficulty level of the bot on display (harder bots would also cost more to hire)

poker, stratagy games, small item quest and bars? man i hope the drinks and smokes are consumable and we can see our guy drink and stuff. maybe sit at a table or bar and relax. though i am worried about how much buying a drink would be, cause if it cost 3 mil ISK to get a budwiser i'm leaving that bar

actualy another thought crossed my mind. you know how they been thinknig of trying the player houseing in EVE like in other games like PSU or FFXI or something? why not just use those rooms we get in the stations there? we can give it a new color, a table here, small ship models and guns hanging off the wall. some ore on the table and a potted plant and some paintings of other planets or space or that asshole's head that shot my ass. :D

It probably won't. It'll make the game a heavier file, which would boost the RAM and disc space reqs, but nothing else should change much

It also seems like people would use the stations as an outlet when they are bored. Also with as many stations as there are in the game it seems like most would be completely empty.

NOooooooooooo, i can't play eve anymore cause i don't have 2 pixel shader. The apocraphy expansion killed my eve life until i can get a new computer which is going to cost me hundreds of dollars. Funny thing i am doing in order to play eve oinlinem spending hundreds just to play it. LOL

I really like the look and feel of the station environment, but I couldnt help but notice that it seemed empty. I would think something as large as a station would have many people living in it most of which would probably not know how to fly a space ship but rather be the people who live and work in the station. I would hope we would get to see such characters roaming the stations halls to add interest. Maybe enough interest so that "people watching" could be something you can enjoy in eve too.

By that I mean have npcs going around doing thier jobs. Like janitors, security guards, maybe the occasional off duty ship mechanic visting the bar, ect. But more than that too. Maybe make it so certain unexpected events can happen... Maybe a janitor forgets to leave a wet floor sign over an area he has mopped and some one slips, or maybe a drunken bar patron stirrs up trouble and the security guard has to step in and handle it... these things can happen at random to add interest to station life

Well, this will give ppl things to do while station camped, besides staring at their ship. I like the idea of player made NPCs / missions, a lot of the game's recent history is 100% player made, why not? Only problem is that it could get a little MUCK-y / Second Life-y.
Gambling for ISK, people already do this, might as well legitimize it and bring it in game. Mini games sound cool too, if nothing else it'll give the developers & players a chance to work on something less stressful.

Well, customizable environments and user generated content isn't a bad thing, as long as there's thematic limits that allow you to avoid the particular kind of "social disease" ridden type or ppl that gives SL a bad rap.
In other words, I doubt we'll have a problem w/ "#@%^ing furries ruining everythng" or "dong cannons" or"bouncing multiplying "jell-owned" cubes in eve.
But then again, only time will tell. :^/

Mini-game at 45:00... wtf, wrong direction ! Who cares!! Add gameplaty usefulness first and foremost.
49:30 Character customization, manufacturing and customization of the station environments : who cares? There's no Eve gameplay there. Players won't give a shit. It's not a dolls-house game FFS.
If stations are just a glorified chat channel for a few select users (few people are in one station at a time) it will be useless.

Who needs station walking in terms of gameplay? Social meeting places are alright, but it doesnt cut it : it's not enough at all. There has to be a shitload of gameplay usefulness to all that jazz or it will fail.
