  • um ....

  • This is the first time I have heard the Cathedrals singing this song.

They were great- now Grorge, Glenn and Roger are singing in the heavenly band.

  • @ludenasan You're forgetting Danny Koker.

  • Mark is the best baritone singer in gospel music. I will get to talk with him again in a few weeks when comes to sing at my church.

  • Top 5 Quartets ALLTIME

    1.Statesmen Qt

    2.Cathedral Qt

    3.Gold City Qt

    4.Blackwood Qt.

    5.Old Oak Ridge Qt.

  • Can I get in on this? Are we talking MALE only or can we make one catagory including MIXED quartets also. One would be hard pressed to argue with your top five if we're talking strickly MALE, but if we are talking MIXED quartet added in, you would have to expand it. As much as I love these, NO ONE can replace, in any form or fashion, THE HAPPY GOODMANS. Also, somewhere you have to place the HINSONS in there. Two INCREDIBLE talents!

  • How could you have a quartet top 5 and not include the Statler Brothers?

  • @DarinErstad17 The statler brothers had no real first tenor and the bass was mediocre at best...compared to other quartets!!

  • What about the Primitive Quartet

  • @bluestreak711 hahahaaaaa

  • George Younce and Glenn Payne are in heaven singing together again!! I sure miss them! Great song.

  • @Shelly1957 with Vestal and Dottie

  • when i saw then a the courtet convention glenn payne did a song thru the phone, he was real sick and close to his meeting with god, we love you glenn, godbless the cathedral quortet!!

  • Anyone have any idea where I can get the sheet music to this song.

  • I think these 4 + Rodger Bennet where the "best" Catherdal group combination. I got to hear several combinations and these guys just had it together! Praise The Lord!

  • I love this song! thanks for posting this, Mr. Dean...have a great day and GOD bless!!!!!!! :-)

  • fantastic... can't be beat...

  • You said it!

  • they r in the top 5, but not the best ever, gold city isnt even in the top 5..

cathedrals- george, glen, danny, mark, roger

    kingsmen- hamill, parrack, eldrige, ray

    blackwoods- james, jd, cecil, bill

statesmen- rosie, doy, hovie, chief, jake/jack

    hinsons- ronnie, larry, kenny, yvonne

    in any order

  • I added gold city and put the hinsons as number 1 :-) they're my absolute favorite!!!!!! :-)

  • it is a sad day when the best we can do is compare people as to who is best and who ranks. We seemed to be missing the message we are God.s children and he loves us equally as we should love one another. Personnally I just listen to the words of the songs and enjoy the writers thoughts and the singers translation of his or her thoughts. God Bless

  • I've read other comments about Gold City being the best ever - UH UH - That distinction belongs with these Cathedrals - this lineup specifically. They had the most charismatic traditional lead singer, the smoothest, rangiest baritone, the purest, most powerful tenor, and the greatest bass voice ever. I miss them so.

  • Very well said Spookycoop. They're very professional in their rendition and their choices of songs were great. We will surely miss them. Hope the remaining members will carry on what they've started.

  • Amazing! George could still use an effective combover.

  • I really missed The Cathedrals especially this group. The best ever! Thanks for posting Dean. God bless. . .

  • This was the last album Danny sang with the Cathedrals on. He is now with Danny Funderburk and Mercy's Way with Greg Day, Stan Shuman , and Keith Plott. They are great, Danny is still THE MAN !!!

  • The Cathedrals were THE best quartet ever!

  • Tremendous song,as only the Cathedrals could have done it!

  • Thanks for posting this, Dean! What a great song!

  • Standing On Holy Ground is the correct name. It was on the LP "I've Just Started Living" - 1989. The author is Clettus Miller - Homeward Bound Music.

  • is this rly the name of the song?

and if so can someone get me the lyrics?
