I was checking out "fuzzymemoriesTV" for some blasts from the past, and I stumbled on this! I used to watch Joker and TicTacDough a lot as a kid. I don't know how, but I remember Thom McKee...as I recall, he was undefeated for most of (if not all) summer 1980, and he racked up at least $1 million in winnings. It's really something how certain things stay in your head for decades. TicTacDough and Joker were the 2 coolest game shows ever. Anyone remember Joker Joker Joker (the kid version in '79?)
I currently agree! The GSN really sucks cause I do not like credit crunching endings! I only like original versions only! Tic Tac Dough is one of the greatest game shows of the 70s and 80s!! Wink Martindale is the best!!!
Have you noticed the pitch for the theme of the older episodes (ex. '78, 79, '80) is a bit lower and slower than the themes from ('82,'83, '84)? Seems weird.
This was an amzing episode here. Wih the largest pot win to that point; it was broken later in 1985 when Randy James won a $46,900 ot after six ties. Thom & Pete played in a match made in the record books; with their knowledge, strategy, & sportsmanship they played a game that Tic Tac Dough fans would never forget. The bonus round was the only spoiler here with Jenny playing; I wonder how she would play the full game. This episode is worth 5 stars with all that happened. We never forget it.
Wink was a snappy dresser thanks to Botany 500 in fact, Botany 500 has made any Game Show Host look snappy:
The Winker, Jim Caldwell, Bob Eubanks, Bob Barker, Jack Narz, Tom Kennedy, Alex Trebek, Bill Cullen, Jack Barry, Monty Hall, Jim Lange, Jim Peck, Jim Perry, Kevin O'Connell, Ron Ely, Dan Miller and famous actors like Dick York, Dick Sargeant, Telly Savales, Sherman Helmsley, Dick Van Dyke and of course Mr. Family Himself Richard Dawson and Quincy M.E. himself Jack Klugman.
@Dannymac82 You got that right, I LOVE Mark Goodson Games like Family Feud w/Richard Dawson, Tattletales, Child's Play among others and even Break the Bank w/Tom Kennedy, The Joker's Wild w/Barry/Peck & Cullen, Play the Percentages (The Couples Format), Tic Tac Dough w/The Winker, Hot Potato w/Bill Cullen and the AWESOME Bullseye w/Jim Lange
I agree!!! If I would've watch any game show from Barry and Enright, or Mark Goodson Television Production, I would've jammed it down to my favorite theme song. I love to dance to the closing theme song.
@juan833blue No it doesn't. They still play classics and they have made, and still have some very good originals. Did I mention Lingo is returning this summer?
I hope GSN goes down. On here somewhere there is bingo America and someone caught something interesting. In the giant mix of numbers, o-72 is the ball out on screen and o-72 is seen floating in the giant mix. Not a good move. Bingo is supposed to be a random drawing without repeats. GSN is fixing things in the wrong way and if classics go on another channel without credt crunching or originals, I'd be happy to see it.
There are people out there that probably would write in for tickets. And GSN would rather air ads they're actually getting paid for during the credits then air someone else's ads from decades ago.

and let's not forget about the late Dan Rowan and the late Dick Martin
They wore Botany 500 on Laugh-In
and also, Dick Van Dyke on The Dick Van Dyke Show and didn't the late Don Adams wore Botany 500?

This is kinda weird for the audience not to applaude during the closing credits of this episode.
megamanj2004X 4 years ago
A lot of times they clap along with the theme at the end which is pretty nice.
SuperGamer7 3 years ago 3
Particularly after the 1981-82 season, when the audience's clapping was more evident.
juan833blue 3 years ago 2
I also loved it when the audiences of "Pyramid" and "Family Feud" also clapped with the themes - thanks a lot GSN for spoiling that fun for us!

That's because they were clapping along to the theme song.

GSN may be off the air soon because of credit crunching all the shows.
juan833blue 3 years ago 3
Why is that?
mtprice1978 3 years ago
Ratings, they have dropped steadily since 2003.
juan833blue 3 years ago 4
@juan833blue They're rising again!

Oh, come on-I appreciate the credits and the theme song as much as the next guy, but that's not going to make them go "off the air soon".

Hey i'm with you I would like to see new Cable Channel devoted to the true classic Game Shows with NO credt crunching or Speeding-Up the show at all.
I'm with you all the way
