This is an excellent video to a wonderful song. It grieves me to be compelled to downrate it because the embedding has been blocked. Why do the recording labels insist on making their music become obscure and forgotten when increased exposure would be better for everyone involved.
@YellowLickilickyXL Thank you. I thought nobody would agree. It's just the way it looks. The way they're all doing the same animations over and over again, and not even much in time to the music. I mean look at the way Keith is drumming. Terrible. And the way Roger keeps bobbing his head up and down. Did they deliberately draw them in such a crappy fashion?
Cuando Roger Daltrey cantaba parecia un viejo juglar , contandote un cuento, uno de los mejores vocalistas de la historia, su voz no era una maravilla pero cantaba muy bien.
did you took the little cartoon they showed in Amazing Journey and then repeated it 10 times and put the song in the background? Not being a sarcastic asshole, just want to know. Love this song, love the album, love the who.
Now Ive listened to this song a thousand times and I know the lyrics are posted as "Happy Jack wasnt OLD but he was a man" ........To anybody else does it sound like they say "Happy Jack isnt TALL but he is a man"....I ask because everytime I listen to it I swear they say TALL instead of OLD. Anyways, the song kicks ass.
Now that you mention it .......You may be on to something here!!!!!! Seriously, I've listened to this son a thousand times and I think you might have discovered something. Your lyric (tall) makes more sense to me then old.......hmmmmm Very interesting....;-)
@doctorzaius77 It's Roger's cockney accent that makes it sound like he's saying "tall". Great video. Too bad THE WHO didn't have their own cartoon show like Jackson 5 or a sitcom like the Monkees.
@XL5timechampsXL The British have a tendancy to pronounce things differently - for example they often drop the final consonant of a word and tack it on to the next word.
Like Righ TOE - instead of Right O - so Wasn't old - sounds a bit more like wasn't TALL
but it is definately Wasn't OLD - meaning he was the age of the guys when Pete wrote the song - 22 - 24 years old (not old - but still a man)
I found this cahnnel - becasue I was looking for It's "All too much" THANKS
@XL5timechampsXL I know it's been over a year but I just came across this video.
They are saying "old" but The Who as you know are British, and they pronounce it "auld" like in "alud lang syne." They don't quite let go of the "t" in "wasn't" and then say "auld" and it sounds like "tauld" (the "d" is silent) So it sounds like "tall" to us Americans.
I lived in Southhampton England for a year when I was a 11 and it took a while for me to understand them. Listen again and see what you think.
The story behind Townshend saying "I saw ya'" has to do with Keith Moon having been wearing a bee costume around the studio, causing a distraction to the recording process and had been told to stop and stay out of sight. At the end of whatever was being recorded (vocals I take it) Moon popped up, defying orders, and Townshend says "I saw ya'" I believe it was around this time that the Who cut a song called "Wasp Man" which might have something to do with the bee outfit?
Just to be balanced in all this, here's what Wikipedia says:
At the tail end of "Happy Jack", Townshend can be heard shouting "I saw you!", and it is said that he was noticing drummer Keith Moon trying to join in surreptitiously to add his voice to the recording, something the rest of the band disliked.
I knew you would appreciate it! Without internet or phone for three weeks I had some time on my hands. I hate uploading to you tube sometimes because the quality of the picture always goes down. Last Christmas I got "The Amazing Journey: The story of The Who- by The Who" There was 15 second clip of animation and I thought how cool it would be if it was made into a full song. All I did here was editing....lots and lots of editing.
It might be because im hyper, but this made me laugh so hard, but its awesome!!!
