thanks! that script program will help me out! im just starting out with my film-making, i like making my own videos but most are inpromptu, i would like to start actually scripting stuff, thanks for making this video!! but what editing system do you use?
@ExactLeigh I edit using Sony Vegas Pro. To be honest, I don't use most of the advanced features. They have a few packages that you can try out for 30 days, see what works for you.
@PrinceT2007 Well, it's not super professional. I just try to use what I have in ways that make it work.
In Chopsticks of Doom, I used a cheap sennheiser shotgun microphone, but the fridge was running which I really had to try and cut around. It was tough.
Now when I shot the Manicorn video, I cut ALL noise. I unplugged the fridge, computers, anything that would make noise. That helps more than I ever thought it would. Manicorn was shot using a lav mic. Check out my blog for gear list.
@NicksVideoDiary@NicksVideoDiary I primarily use Sony Vegas Pro 9.0, with a little bit of after effects if I have some special effects to do.
I've written up a blog post on my website about my gear set up, feel free to ask me if you have any questions.
If you're looking for better editing software, Sony has some cheaper options that I've heard a pretty good. And you can try it out with a 30 day trial to see which one you like.
Hey! Awesome videos. I found your channel because you made a comment on Julian Smith's video. I'm glad I found this channel! This video was very helpful so thank you. I am currently writing scripts for my own videos. I never thought about story boards but I will use them for sure now. I have one question: what are the pros and cons of using a DSLR instead of a camcorder? I was planning on buying the Panasonic AG-DVX100A this weekend. But after seeing your and Julian's set ups, I'm reconsidering.
@jbballer I forgot to mention something. I will be using the camera to film dancing as well. Indoor and outdoor. A video camera would probably be better for that right? I'm not worried about sound too much for dance because I will most likely just edit the music over the video. However, I don't have a lot of money for mics when it comes to sketches and other videos I'll make I probably have enough for one good shotgun mic. Thank you so much in advance for any help you can provide!
