@N4ANE Umm ya have that backwards I have the data for my fleet repairs and what you are saying is way wrong. I provide trucks for masons, electricians, carpenters, and plumbers. The biggest problem is that if you use a Ford or Dodge as a work truck, they call normal construction use, "abuse" and will not cover most warranty repairs, at least with GM they will fix things no matter how my guys bust them.
Pickups are still junk I replace them all when they have 30 000 miles. Work trucks NOT

What matters is how they were taken care of more than the IH vs. Cummins thing. It's hard to find a decent example of either one these days. These Diesels can cost an arm and a leg to fix!
i respect them all and would like to get a cummins or 7.3 power stroke but they arnt really comparable because power-strokes have v-8's witch deliver more hp but a cummins is a 6 cylinder but has lots of torque for hualing
One more thing. This Ford vs. Chevy vs. Dodge stuff is non-sense! They all make a good truck, the key to success is in how the individual truck is optioned and maintained. I would take a D3500 HD over a Ford F250, and I am a Ford man! Just because the Dodge has the right specs. These trucks require a lot of care to keep up, and that is crucial as well. I'll take a well cared for Chevy over a beat up Ford any day. There is a lot of stuff that can go wrong on these Diesels!
I own a 2000 Ford 7.3 Diesel F350 SRW 4x4 Supercab Lariat with the camper special package. It has leaf springs, a Dana 60 front and a 10.5" Sterling rear, no cats, and the 7.3 with the forged rods. It has 35" tires with no lift with a lot of room to spare! I looked for a year to find that truck. I thought that was about as good as a Ford gets, until I was at Hunterdon Diesel and saw a 2004 F350 Crew Cab with a 6.7 Cummins, an Allison Tranny, Dana 60 front and Dana 80 rear they built!
I drive the ol Ford bulletproof 7.3l powerstroke and can pull a brick house down. 5 speed manual with 410 gears and at 2300 rpm 550 ft of torque. But I tilt my hat to the Cummins;)

truck at :33 secs used to be cheyenne morris's rig... he wanted to be kewl so he rolled it on purpose... same truck in the pic of diesel vs gas... old singlecab 12v... poor truck deserved better... i challenge cheyenne and whatever he drives now to take on southern ks diesels... hopefully he see's this! to everybody elses rigs... nice trucks fellas
