It's a bit special with the translation. I don't know about demon god, but the traditional japanese "Shinigami" ("Death God") is more like a spirit that helps the dead cross the line between the living world and the underworld and not something like a reaper or god in the first place. More like a ghostly thing. But maybe that's irrelevant. :S

@Ayane47 yeah, the Kishin's name is Ashura. He was one of the... oh, warrior people that Shinigami had when he was fighting the Kishin before the series started. The same as Eibon, only Ashura ate his weapon and became the ultimate embodiment of the Kishin rather than destroying it...

Incidentally, Eibon and Ashura are the only two people (from Shinigami's orignal weapon meister warrior people) that we ever find out about in the anime.

@ookibaka in the manga there is another warrior, but his name wasn't revealed yet. It appear to have power over insanity like Asura. He is so powerful that even Kid fall for his insanity. It's conffirmed that exist eight of those warriors and they are called The Eigh Lords of War.
