When I was a kid I always looked up to matt and thought I was his burst fan. Then I moved to Hillsboro Illinois with my dad and met Matt. Not only is he a great fighter hes a extremely nice man.
GSP is just the next evolution in mma, he is a more coplete fighter and he is so smart not to fight too often, and he is not burning out himself, and he is always "hungry" to get better and better..anyway..respect for matt!!
gsp, hughes, penn...they are all great fighters. too many people knock fighters when they start losing at the end of their careers. you only have so many good years to dominate your division before the younger, faster fighters start beating you. then those younger faster fighters get older and they start losing..it's a cycle that no athlete escapes. the trick is knowing when to walk away and go out on top.
No fighter is invincible. Matt Hughes' body of work is amazing and his place in history is secured. Remember, everybody loses. There is always someone better, stronger, younger, etc. That includes GSP. It is "gameness" that counts and Matt has that big time.
Matt Hughes was a great champ best in the ufc. Come back in 10 to 15 years if GSP has the same resume as Matt then yes freely talk smack. I bet you anything by then another up and coming champ will be faster and stronger and GSP will find himself in the same spot Hughes is.

Matt Hughes is one of the greatest MMA fighters ever. Anyone who says otherwise is simply wrong.
These days he tends to look sluggish, but at his peak he was truly special.

GSP deserved the win at the second fight.
The third, well, Matt was already getting a little bit far from his heydays.
