As a mapper, I can tell you not every map has a 3d skybox, most ametuer maps only have a 2d skybox, and it can be anywhere.

3d skybox is jusut the background of the map blown up really big. It's .0625 scale instead of 1.0 scale

where the skybox is doesn't matter, it can be above the map, below, far to the left, whatever as long as it's out of view. also, the skybox will not render func_ items or moving entities.

yh whats with the skyboxes, i was in spectate mode once, and i decided to go up, and i saw some land and i thought 'wtf' so i carried on until i got to it, and it turned out to be the scenery, i wonder why they have it like that

They skybox is a smaller scale than what you see in the game. Your computer renders the smaller version, then shows it large, making your computer run faster.

maybe a year ago was i see this too when i died and spoted it i thinked: a town floating in the sky i was also think that they who maked the map maybe did a wrong on the map and then they just moved the mistake longer up in the sky if u understand

you do know that almost every decent map has a 3d skybox nowadays, and if u look at them in hammer editor, u can find out where they are, cool tho

Haha the 3d skybox isn't in every map, it's the mappers choice to put it in. The point of using one in a map is it is a smaller scaled down version that gets magnified to where the players are located instead of the crappy 2-d skybox's of cs 1.6. By making 3d skyboxes it saves time and also is more organized for bigger projects, depending on if you you use visgroups. when your playing office again go into t spawn walk around to where the vending machines are look on the right there is a window look close, you should see skyscrapers

yes press ` the button to the left of the 1 then as u said sv_cheats 1 then noclip. to fly u just walk around as normal but point in the direction u want to go with the cross-hair
