It should be better trying if they cat get along each other, dog should get to accept the new member, unless he gets jealous or frightened. I would let them get in touch or stay near, but very carefully at the begininng.

some dogs never accept them, it depends specially on dog's age, I know of two dogs older than 6 years that somehow ignored our ferrets or even try to bite them.

@korgero this is what happens with my dogs, I also have a basset, he is 1 year old, and I have to let he lihe inside of my house because I have a cocker spainell that I think it is 6 years old that is kinda jealous about him and always tryes to byte him

Well, I hopefully should be getting a ferret in a week and a couple of days. I have a jack russell terrier, I know how they are hunting dogs and that, would it be unsafe to let the ferret and the jack near each other? If not I will simply put the jack in the garden.

Yes, it's really amazing how can they have so much fun together, they are both so nervous and active...if they did not play together...I would have no hands to play with them. ;-)

Well, I would fear more for the ferret that for the chihuahua, which being so small is much bigger than any ferret. I would try if possible how do they both get along before getting a ferret for you, sometimes dogs have lots of fun with ferrets and vice-versa, but some dogs are jealous or prefer to bite them.

Los perros no suelen llevarse mal con los hurones, sería mejor que pudieras probar primero con uno antes de quedarte con él, si luego no se llevan bien. No huelen demasiado, salvo la habitación en la que suelan estar y hacer caca, no hace falta eliminarles las glándulas perianales. Ten en cuenta que te puede dar más trabajo que el perro, necesitan mucha atención, son muy despiertos y curiosos. No compres uno, adóptalo, hay foros, no contribuyas a que se conviertan en mercancía.Saludos
