If you watch other 'buyback' videos you'll see they check #s, do ballistic tests & are prepared to do fingerprints on guns. And where does this info that 'most of the people who turn them in are felons' come from? That would be like a carpenter giving away his tools - the felons are the ones who buy the guns that 'MYSTERIOUSLY' DISAPPEAR while in police custody... No, what I find, ironic is that the gun that a person turns in may be the very one that kills them... STUPID IS - AS STUPID DOES!!!!
Actually, most of the people who turned them in, were felons...they had no business with them in the first place. I'm pretty sure alot of evidence in crimes were destroyed, so even if they were to catch someone they'd get off because the very same police department that was investigating the case destroyed the evidence...and how embarrassing would it be to admit we had to let a man who wiped out an entire building go because we voluntarily destroyed the evidence? Pretty scary, ain't it?
