Actually, this happened to me in Bruma once. I was walking by the castle and there was a guard waist deep in the ground, still alive. His arms were waving in the air as if he was falling, and he just kept looking at me like: "....what are you staring at?"

After a few seconds he simply died right there. I just shook my head, took his armor and kept walking. Best not to question it. lol.

i was doing one of the mages guild recommendations, and that one chick shows up to kill you on the road, i ran away from her (cuz she wont attack till you talk to her) and he kept chasing, then i jumped backwards, and finally let her talk to me...then the 2 battlemages attacked her (she died) then an imperial legion soldier attacked them! (his horse had died) and started killing my battlemages, so i healed the main mage for awile till another guard came, it was funny..cuz the battlemage won

You can do that too, if you have the PC version just target the guard and use console tcl he'll start to go through the ground if you pick up his legs
