Just hire a pool service....after you spend 300 dollars on chemicals to do it yourself....you could've just spent 250 and not had to do a thing if you'd hired someone! I'm a pool man myself....people do this all the time and it's silly to try to do it yourself if you don't know what your doing.
Make sure to get a water analysis before trying this. If there is a high copper content in the water there no amount of algaecide or shock chlorine that will get rid of the algae. It will have to be drained and reconditioned.

Nice....thanks for posting. Did you check the ph before adding the algecide and flock? I've read the optimum level of the ph should be 8 for the flock to work well.
