  • it looks like band of brother now only then in ww1

  • Moving,

  • This was SO well done...

  • its amazing how music can change the tone

  • Now, that would be an awesome movie!

  • Wow. Just wow.

  • this is brilliant considering blackadder is a comedy series you've made this a sad trailer from clips of a comedy series good job

  • Well done vadelect. Very poignant. I had family shooting and killing each other on both sides. In October I go to pay homage to my Great Uncle who died at Gallipoli aged 15 and some weeks later to see the place that my Great Grandfather was born in Germany. His son (my grandfather) was wounded in action in France on the side of British. No all that many years before that Britain and Germany were allies. What madness war is.

  • Hurrah! Great job!

  • this is fake

  • @callmeal84

    No shit sherlock

  • Blackadder Goes Fourth:

Between 1914 and 1918, a savage war tore across Europe the likes of which had never been seen before.

Over nine million soldiers lost their lives in the conflict.

With luck, this was one of them.

    (Blackadder theme starts to play)

  • What a Amazing and Brilliant bit of work you have here....

Ive enjoyed looking at.. Well done

  • That was absolutely brilliant! Now, if only Hollywood would stop doing that, making crap movies look good in trailer. Not saying that this is made from crap, of course.

  • This is going into my Favourites, and you're getting an invitation to join my contacts on YouTube. Bravo is a poor word, but it'll have to do.

  • This is a crisis.

  • Worldclass!!!

  • This...

    This is brilliant.

  • Genius...

  • Any videos of the opening sequence?

  • wow after seeing this trailer I can see Rowan Atkinson in a real war movie!!!!

  • that was really good thx for making it :D

  • After seeing this, I just need to say... I've got something in my eye...

Permission for lip to wobble, sir?

  • It's amazing how music can hange perceptions between comedy and tragedy.

  • its actually quite moving

  • This is an excellent recut, well done you almost made me tear, this is a great tv show and u made it look sad, ):

  • Best show ever was and ever will be.

  • THE FLANDERS PIGEON MURDERER!!!!!!

  • Very well done!

  • Awesome!

  • very good editing. BRAVO!!!

  • I like how you can't really use a clip longer than a few seconds cos a joke is just around the corner :D

  • Permission to shout "Bravo" at an annoyingly loud volume, sir?

  • Permission granted!

  • what is the music?

  • BRAVO, indeed

  • Good work!

  • May I say the following word in George's style: BRAVO!!!!

  • Well done. You chose some good scenes to go into this trailer. Nice work.

  • Fantastic very moving actually! Also a fantastic TV series for those who haven't seen it.

  • well done, great trailer :)

  • wat song did u use?

  • It's a piece by a composer called Ian Hughes called Killers Kiss.

  • @vadelect where did you get it from?

  • did not expect to like this. I have to say, its very well made, and fitting to blackadder goes forth.

  • very very well done. 5 stars

  • Nicely done :)

  • What an epic, indeed!!!!

  • This series was hilarious without being disrespectful. What a powerful ending. R.I.P.All who served and died.

  • I really liked this video, Very well done

  • I'm a massive Blackadder fan ... and I have to say very well done, great vid

  • same with me, especially as you really did get to love the characters and you think they'll make it through in the series, it was just such a sudden shock whjilst at thesame time being a haunting, sad series. But its still somehow the funniest.

  • I always thought the third series was the funniest...

  • I'm with you. It was also the most literary.

  • omg this is really good.

    great music and editing.

    god bless

  • Nice!

  • This was excellent! I love how all the shots after "it was a tale of madness" feature George. Was that on purpose?

  • What's the music? Is it from Saving Private Ryan?

  • It's a piece by a composer called Ian Hughes called Killers Kiss. Not sure what else it might have been used in I'm afraid.

  • Genius editing!!

  • Awesome video. Exellent editing and use of music. Well done.

    5/5

  • That was really good

  • Well done. My favourite part is when blackadder says "Ive always been married to the army", and then cuts to the marching scene.

    5/5

  • I am so impressed. I have seen the series many times, and i stumbled over this some months ago. I've probably seen it ten times, and it still moves me

You have done an excellent job. An easy 5.

  • Very well done, I think that's as good as you're going to get turning this comedy into something rather tragic. 5/5 stars

  • Very good job!!

  • .........And then they wen't over the top.....

  • This is good

  • 5 stars!

  • That was just bloody amazing. I don't know why people are kicking up such a fuss about it, because this is far more imaginitive than most of the other rubbish on youtube. And, you've really captured the poignancy of WW1. This is a really great tribute to a really great show :D And I'm now going to be really sad, and watch it again and again...

  • well without the jokes it looks like a serious war moovy

  • nice job, i think you shood have left the jokes in for greater contrast:)

  • This was a fantastic bit of work, thank you for this. I wrote a well thought out post on this video, but it dissappeared into cyber space. In my frustraion, I decided to read all the post concerning this video. If you want to know why mankind frequently engages in the madness of war, just read through all of the post pertaining to this video. While some of the post are quite good, in others you will discover an abundance of lunacy, idiocy, and ignorance. Why do we have wars?Look in the mirror.

  • Why don't people understand the point of a recut trailer? Is there something sacred and written in stone about a trailer? Not even the actual trailer makers observe that rule. I can't tell you how many misleading but offical trailers I've seen. The point is thus: recut the trailer of a movie of a certain plotline and genre so it seems to have a different plotline and genre.

  • Wonderful recut, and brave, putting it into the tragic historical light one can only place the First World War, and actually the very last episode of this series does end on a rather tragic note for an otherwise hilarious sitcom. I respect that. When you think of it, it was brave of them to find the humor in the First World War with the show in the first place.

  • Wow, I used to watch Black Adder in Saudi Arabia many years ago, never thought the USA was ever ready for the dry wit of the Brits (God Love Them~!)but you did a terrific, very moving tribute. I fought in Viet Nam, and most people don't understand that a soldier prays for peace most of all, and you captured that sentiment that beautifully! God bless the memories of those who fought in that terrible war.

  • I respect your comment. The last scene in this video just reminded me those who fought in wars for my country. I think everyone may feels the same.

R.I.P.---For those who passed away to defend our republic.

P.S. Thanks for the tribute. Absolutely great.

  • That's debatable

  • Please... at least read a book and try and learn some proper facts before trying to sum up the first world war all by yourself.

  • Amazing... someone is now trying to pin the blame of the holocaust on the British Empire... does this make sense to anyone?

  • Yes, it does

  • Haha... their pathetic attempts to rip us failed...

  • Very poignant.

  • Wow such a great video i never knew you could actually make a serious trailer out of Blackadder but you have a its awesome congrats

  • They say the other face of comedy is tragedy..

  • It's not often I feel compelled to comment a video. But you've done a sterling job here. Well done sir.

  • A brillant video gets the point across well done

  • Way to miss the point. Of course it's a comedy. The point of the video is to show that you can turn a comedy into what appears to be a serious war epic through editing.

  • No you're missing the point. I said it's HARD to take this seriously BECAUSE he took clips from a COMEDY and TRIED to make it into a serious war epic. It is just a matter of opinion. I think it's hard to take this seriously. YOU DON't.

  • I think he made a good job to put the funny parts into a dramatic context.

  • The final epsiode of Blackadder was serious enough acutally.

  • Yes.

  • That was amazing. Brilliant.

  • This video made me cry. Excellent job!

  • great job on this video! the great war was horrible, although blackadder was brilliant

  • GENIUS! Bloody genius!

  • think you done credit to blackader must have taken you ages

  • A great series.

The black comedy made light of what was a very dark and terrible time for europe. We laugh at the nonsical witterings but never forget the sacrafices that were made by many.

  • I loved the music in this video

  • Not many war films or tv series are based on The Great war these days theremostly based on WW2 or the vietnam war etc

  • Very well done!

  • where did you get that music from?

  • Hmmm, can't really remember now, it was a while ago. I think it's a piece by the composer Ian Hughes called Killers Kiss.

  • I looked it up on iTunes and its not listed.

  • Very moving

  • i agree. The Great Depression, man! Think about it!

  • That is a supremely ignorant comment bullen81. I suppose the extinction of Jews, gypsies, Catholics, homosexuals, the mentally ill, and any other "undesirables" was not a "reason" for going to war on the part of the Allies? Surely the Munich agreement is evidence enough that the world could not be "divided" up?

  • Not bad at all. It almost has a hint of Band of brothers about it!

  • Beautiful.

George is so brave ! x

  • that was great. I especially liked the last two scenes where Darling and Blackadder have no differences

  • Well said, mate.

  • No your thinking of Archduke Franz Ferdiand and his wife who got assassinated at Sarajevo, Bosnia by serbian terrorist's

  • That was awesome.

  • beautifull ^_^

  • this should be shown on national tv just before rememberance sunday...

  • "There was just one problem with the plan"

    "whats that?

    "It was bollocks"

  • Great Work! That almost got me teary eyed and I know the BlackAdder comedies very well. Perfect use of the "recut", make it seem like we have never seen it before.

  • this is beautiful shit man, its so friggen touching!

  • Thanks, I was actually one of the squaddies marching during the making of the start of the series, it was my old regiment who are now srviong in Afghanistan, The Royal Anglian Regt. I would also like to dedicate this to all our current servicemen.

  • Awesome, a fellow Colchesterian. Good luck to our troops!

  • Wow, that was really impressive. What's the music you used?

  • Cheers. I think it's a piece by the composer Ian Hughes called Killers Kiss.

  • as sed, well put to gether. its a shame it had to end. thay all work well together and loved the lot.

  • that, was quite brilliant. i commend you.

  • Incredible. That could be a trailer for a great movie.

  • the best, nothing else but the best.

  • that was so well put together, and the music is SO sad

  • That was sheer brilliance

brought a lump to my throat

    bloody well done!!!

  • We Salute those who fell during the Great War and those who continue to fall fighting for our Freedom.

  • this is fantastic! shame on you for making me want to see a film that doesn't exsist!

  • WWI was the death rattle of monarchys, and good riddance.

  • Blackadder goes forth, despite being rather silly at times, dose still have a very important message about how senseless that war was, and how generals acting blindly to how little progress they were making. All in all, a really good program and a very good video.

  • I am so damn sick of posts saying "hot naked girls on some bloody website"

  • You and me both! Sodding spammers.

  • Amen brothers! To all you bloody spammers out there, I have one message to you: GO TO HELL AND SPAM THERE! You are so bloody bothersome, that even Satan will kick you out... And then YOU start a new hell... You can call it: "My-foot-up-your-spammer'-ass!"

    -Thank you

  • The last episode is very hard to watch.

Especially the clip of No Mans Land with nothing in it.

I cant imagine how scary it must have been to be a soldier and have to live in those conditions.

And the points where you had to join up, even if you were a married man under the age of 40.

Basically, 50,000 of our men died every week for absolutely nothing.

  • "Our men died for nothing?" Thank you for summing up the entire first world war all by yourself, sara. But I'd rather you grew up.

  • sara is partly right y'know. That was most tragic thing: millions of people died so that war's would never happen again but the great war didn't solve any problems whatsoever.

  • To say nothing is untrue, but one great tragedy of the First World War is it might have been avoided or at most deflated if cooler heads on both sides had prevailed. It was a horrific exercise in blind nationalism. I can't think of an chapter more influential and significant in the 20th Century than the First World War. More may have died in the Second World War, but there probably wouldn't have been a Second had there not been a First and mistakes made in its resolutions.

  • To deny honor to those who gave their lives for their country is unjust, and the debate over whether it was inevitable or not has been raging on since it began and argued over by far smarter people than I am. Anyway, I respect this recut trailer, and what it attempts to do.

  • Sweet. Very comical. But the last episode always leaves me in tears, so those parts were hard to watch.

  • That was fantastic. Absolutely brilliant.

  • way better than MASH, that show rang longer than the war it depicted

  • all i can say is wow.....

  • I love it! I rank Blackadder IV up there with MASH as the best shows in history to balance comedy and tragedy about war. Great job and I love the song.

    Hurrah!

  • Excelent, though i'd argue the series IS a poignant war epic!

  • Brilliant. A great comedy showing how dispicable The "Great" War was.

  • Whats the song?

  • I think it's a piece by the composer Ian Hughes called Killers Kiss.

  • Thank you so much. I will search for it right now.

  • omg well done....

  • SO good!

  • Absolutely brilliant.

  • Wow - real lump-in-the-throat stuff. Well done, mate.

  • Thank you very much that was sensational!

  • Well Rowan did recently mention that if it were to happen, he'd love to do it in another war camp during WW2 (not too cunning if you ask me...). Tony Robinson also said a fifth series could take place in the 1960's, where Blackadder and his crew are in a band called the Black Adder Five. He only said that on one occasion, though. A BA 5 would be grand, hopefully it will materialize eventually, especially now that Rowan has more or less decided to let Mr. Bean go.

  • hasnt he just made a film of it?

  • Gosh is that last episode of BAGF terribly sad. It's funny how you always seem to keep hope for all of them until the very end, but nothing ever happens.

This trailer is beautiful, great work.

  • Brutal.

  • That was really wonderful! Thank you

  • Wow this is brilliant feels like a british version of Saving Private Ryan.

  • That trailer is quite good atchually

  • I LOVE EDMUND BLACKADDER!!!

  • blackadder ALWAYS made me laugh hysterically, except that last bit of that last episode where i wept like a baby!

thanks for this, its a great cut :-)

  • outstanding, i always found the last episode of blackadder goes forth incredibly touching. i fail to see how anyone can not be moved by it. wonderfully put together piece of work, gave me goose bumps. thank you.

  • I have a cunning plan my lord...

Black Adder is one of the greatest comedies ever, if not THE greatest!

  • Brilliant! A masterpiece! I find the end of the fourth and first serious sad but this perfects it!

  • Beautiful. This is why 'Backadder Goes Forth' is my favorite. It's incredibly poignant and honest beneath all that comedy and wit.

  • Wow, this is serious... never saw Blackadder in this light.

  • ha nice video
