Yeah, so Ms. Vowell wasn't even in the auditorium at the time I shot this. The woman at the podium is holding a cellphone up to the mic while Sarah, driving across town in a cab, describes the DC sights.
Blogged about it on my site, outdoortypeDOTorg (search for sarah vowell).
Wow. No love for Sarah Vowell? I'll give it 3 stars but it does sort of sound like she's talking through a drive-thru window speaker. Too bad you couldn't get closer. Maybe some subtitles would help? ;)
I can't believe this is like one of the only clips of her on YouTube. I'm pretty sure I have her appearances on both Book TV and Late Night with Conan O'Brian. I'll try to get them up here for everyone else to enjoy. She's swell.
Please do! I discovered her through Conan and Jon Stewart she was always super funny on Conan. More people should read her stuff she's very smart, interesting and funny. Atleast you can see this american life for free on the net.
She is a regular contributor to This American Life. You should be able to find some of her works at their site. thislife dot org plug in her name and look for Trail of Tears. That is one of her most popular.
"The Music lesson" is a fine show. It starts off with a gospel choir, then David Sedaris, then Sarah Vowell. Look for Sedaris on You Tube.
She has super voice

The third person on that broadcast is Ann Lamott, a wonderful writer.
