  • this just makes me want to cry :'o

  • But they're right! I've seen people left behind with no insurance. Not nice.

  • Wtf... This advert is really weird...

  • not very often do you see Paul Whitehouse doing something sad.

  • absolutely love it

  • This is a brilliantly done advert. Amazing bit of acting and directing.

  • Don't be silly. Whitehouse will never die. That boy's a legend!

  • A brilliant commercial. Too many people put off taking insurance and too many families suffer because of this.

  • Chris Waddle.

  • I cannot take this seriously after seeing Paul Whitehouse tap dancing on tv

  • This 1 & the hilarious green army 1 are the best aviva ads too!

  • This 1 & the hilarious green army 1 are the best aviva ads too!

  • the hint to him being dead is only 3 pass ports at the 0:03

  • @dinozambas7 not at all..the viewer is only shown two parents and one child at that point

  • This advert made me cry, it's so powerful

  • The young Girl in this advert Is a great actress....She makes this ad..

  • I cry over this advert. It is beautiful.

  • finally whitehouse uses his original cockney native speaking voice, the voice imitating cunt!

  • i sob every time

  • Why do advertising agencies use John Thompson for voice overs,? the man has two convictions for drink driving. That is convictions not offences. He is utter scum frankly. No Aviva insurance for me.

  • Although quite insensitive to anyone who's actually lost a father, I think this is aimed directly at fathers. I've just read 'Hidden Persuaders', and page 73-4 states that men wanted to 'control' the quality of their family's lives if anything should happen to them. That was written in 1957. It's intriguing that they've resurrected a theory directly from that book. Be interesting to see what fathers think of this ad.

  • seriously, what is with this advert? i mean, apart from shit.

  • What a ridiculous advert :P

They're all going on holiday with the money they got from their dead dad. NICE!

  • @MattyandScottie Maybe a family need a break if they've just lost a parent. Maybe they need to still eat and live. Would you prefer to have no money and end up living on a sink estate? How odd.

  • @MattyandScottie So what?! I did. And I bought a nice, brand new computer too. What ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO DO.. GIVE IT TO CHARIDEE?! lol

  • I hate this advert. I've suffered a paternal figure loss, and the idea of using it as an advertising ploy is, in my own view, ridiculous.

[And if you disagree, keep it to yourself please]

  • @UltimateDalekMaster I'm in the same boat myself. I found this advert crass in its thinly veiled efforts to play the emotion card, and am frankly disgusted. The ASA has already received a vast number of complaints about this advert. I can appreciate that some people argue that it just serves to highlight Life Insurance issues, but the subject matter on offer here is what I find so offensive. There are other ways to sell life insurance without using this kind of subterfuge.

  • Awww man! I thought there would have been an awesome joke at the end. Then all of a sudden the chick says the guy's dead =( Real sad

  • sad advert, i liked that guy , he was cool

  • This is literally the worst advertisement in existence xx

  • What was Whitehouse thinking? Playing a dead person to guilt us into buying from Aviva. Poor judgement on his part. Oh, and PS... other places are better value.

  • In that advert, the only thing that's dead is the cat masquerading as Paul Whitehouse's wig.

  • Sad advert but it made me go and get Life Insurance.

Got a good deal I think by going to Cavendish via Martin Lewis (MSE)!!

    Sean

  • This reminds me of when that kid was trying to sell life insurance in Cemetery Junction... just horrible

  • My dad was offered life insurance. 'Nah' he said 'I'm fit as a fiddle'. Two months later he was dead and... Well, no money, no income. A single mother with two young children having to take up the business he left behind, and only a small Widow's Benefit to help. I'm not saying go for Aviva, but I will say, fathers and family wage-earners, if you haven't already, get life insurance. Perhaps if my dad had seen an advert like this he would have let his ego take a back seat.... Oh, well...

  • In my country you had to get life insurance, you never knew when a Bullet or a bomb would kill you after going outside.

  • What a terrible advert.

  • That's more like it FarkFilms. Whitehouse is a good actor but there something slimy about this and something "of the night" about him. It shocked me but the idea is familiar (The Others; Sixth Sense). Aviva ain't doing this for the loved ones left behind - it's for profit. And I don't like this kind of advertising that tries to scare or shock people into forking out money for death insurance. Bastards!

  • Oooooh! New Coffin Sir? Ooohhh? Like it sealed do you Sir? Ooooh! Suit you sir!

  • The bitt where he says "and katy will get help with uni" and then she looks behind her like she heard him was quite affecting

  • hate hate hate this

i've been through this shit and its not as bright n bubbly as this ad makes it.

gives me the rage everytime this comes on tv

  • quite pathetic if your crying over a 30 second advert.

  • I saw this on TV a few moments ago and wondered what folks on ebay thought about it. So yeah! Stunned silence. Even more so considering what came before.

  • BRUCE WILLIS IS A GHOST

  • I brilliantly put together advert, and excellent use of the Juxtaposition. It really hits you.

  • Thanks for ruining my day, Aviva.

  • Hate this advert. I was horrified when I saw it on TV D:

  • 0:30 utter destruction :(

  • Bleakest. Advert. Ever.

  • Fuck you Aviva - I didn't need that.

  • This is the first advert that made me cry. I never thought much of the earlier Aviva ads (and I don't know if they were good for the company) but this one is.The fact that Paul Whitehouse is such a chirpy person makes it sadder for the kids to lose their dad when fairly young.

  • Definitely the best advert Aviva have produced in a very long time. If I did not have life insurance I would be on the phone as soon as the advert finished.

  • I have stopped conversations and asked them to watch this Advert. The result is always the same. A stunned silence! Brilliant advert guys.

  • Simple, powerful message conveyed brilliantly with no overdone sentiment. After all the previous Aviva 'comedy 'ads that delivered a real smack between the eyes. I bet Aviva have already seen a rise in enquiries for life assurance, but that's only half the point - it really sticks in your mind, and that's how the best ads work.

  • We should have seen the family's breath when he was in the room. His son should have confided in him that he sees dead people. This is annoying. They should stick to being sort of funny.

  • Yes, a very powerful advert. I also didn't see it coming. No special effects or tricks but very well thought out.

  • didnt expect the end... thought it was gonna be an advert about travel agents or something

  • its like the sixth sense...

  • Does it make you think about getting life insurance though? It might be hard hitting but unless it makes to assess your own need for life insurance, then it's pointless.

  • Very well made, did not see it coming first time, and I agree the girl plays her part extremely well

  • first saw this yesterday, and I was almost in tears by the end of it, well acted and very powerful.

  • DangerSteve, you are a complete knob.

  • @TheWestendboy Thanks. Nice input.

  • This is one of the best TV ads I have ever seen. There is no clue what is all this about until the last few seconds, when the girl speaks to the mom.

Its not insensitive. Its so powerful.

  • I think its an excellent advert and very well done.

  • I found this very upsetting. No such thing as bad publicity I suspect.

  • Wow powerful stuff and brilliantly acted by all.

  • paul whitehouse is abrilliant actor

  • I killed him

  • I couldn't believe they killed the Aviva man! I mourned him for a day.

  • @bagna007 I don't believe this advert is insensitive in the slightest; it is a powerful way to make people wake up and realise that they really should be taking some action to help look after those left behind should the worst happen!

  • @bagna007 Oh get over it. People are so hyper sensitive. You just like moaning.

  • Clever because all the adverts that preceded were played for comedy so this is genuinely startling the first time you see it. Not the clue at the beginning, only three passports are packed.

  • This is dark as fuck.

  • thats a sick advert

  • @jessicapeel95

It is a shame but it does happen, that does not make it sick. People need to be prepared. Sad yes, sick no.

  • I live this advert! Not in a creepy way, but just because it's a nice thought, that you lived one is going go be there for you :) really good acting, and well directed :D

  • It's a bit dark...

  • I see dead people!

  • Fabulous acting!!! Loved it... Well done to all the actors, especially the young girl, who delivered her line really emotionally.Excellent

  • should have used Bruce Willis for the 'Sixth Sense' effect.

  • Classic Whitehouse. He knows haw to mess with your emotions.

  • This made me cry my fucking eyes out.....

  • I thought it was going to be holiday insurance.

    That was fucked up

  • This is the best aviva advert i've seen, the point is powerful and the actors are magnificent. The family works very well.

  • Very powerful video, positive and yet has impact.

  • This advert is quite sad - a real tear jerker
