I played this tape at work until it got warped, had to use the one in the car then played that until it got warped but made a cheap copy onto another tape then that got warped lol. I think I would listen to it more if I didn't already listen to it 500,000 times lol.
Who said this album ain't as good as their debut album? No way! Unfortunately, this album was ahead of its time and was very underated. If this album had seen the light maybe 3 years after it would have been called a masterpiece. This is the Skids at their best, doing something new, different and original. And not saying the albums before this one weren't good, they were awesome, specially Slave to the Grind, but just saying that this album is the shit!
the first two where better im not really a fan of this album :( i love skid row so much but the vocals and heavyness kinda ruins it for me :'( so fucking worship this band XD
I had this cd when it was released, think it was like 95,The reason it didnt do so well is grunge and rap was the new thing, and it took them forever to write and release it. Frozen is a good track also.
This song rocks. It definitely is a shame that this album went so un-noticed, but it's like Dave Sabo said, " We could have released Back in Black and it wouldn't have mattered, it just wasn't our time anymore". Still though, even though at this point grunge had taken over, this album should have gotten its due notice.
@Dayman107 That dose not make them pop,Monkey Business
was also part of that countdown is it a pop song? Piece of me (1st CD) was al so apart of it. And the only thing Skid Row & Poison have in common is Baz & Bret have the same hair color. How is a song like 18 & life less Metallic then Judas Priest Love Bites or Dimonds & Rust. And since your the only one who is calling it a "pop" record do you know what "POP" is?
@Acekicken Oh I'm pretty sure it became pop when teenage girls started writing Skid Row on their book covers. These were the same girls who put Poison and Whitesnake on them as well.
Hell when I was in high school, I had to play Slave to the Grind just to get my buddies to stop making fun of me. I had to make sure they heard that Skid Row really was heavy.
So anyway, I never heard B-Side Ourselves. Is that a cover album like GnR's "The Spaghetti Incident?"
@Dayman107 Just cause chicks wrote Skid Row on their note books dose not make it pop,I know girls who where writing Megadeth & Metallica on theres & by no means where they pop,& yes B side is an EP with Rab Halford & Skid Row on Delivering the goods,Rachel sang Pshcho Therapy(Ramones) They coverd KISS & Jimmy Hendrix
@Dayman107 - Skid Row's self-titled debut album was commercial hard rock! Their second album was Heavy Metal! The only reason they were catergorized as "pop" the first time around was because they had two hits chart in the top 10 of Billboard's hot 100! Your ideas of what Pop Music is are way off! To me the purest pop song ever made was "Let's Hear It For The Boy" by Deniece Williams! That song defined pop as a genre of music for me! Sorry, but you're wrong!
@Dayman107 Well I'm not going to insult you or Poison (Not Metal)
The 1st SR CD had a thick production & the song can't stand the heartache
was a bit glam but Songs like Big Guns,Midnight,Youth gone wild are defiantly "Metal" The song Piece of me would have fit right on Slave to the grind. I remember you may have had that 80's ballad charm but the record as a whole was not Pop
@Transamstance Hmmm. I don't know man. Maybe you heard the sound of my rock-hard loins slappin against your momma's flabby ass cheeks? might have made a snare-like sound if she farted while i was thumping, I don't know...good luck faggot, listen to the album again, you'll hear some drums this time.
Would have been nice if they would have publicized this cd. I didn't even know about it til I came looking for Skid Row songs here on youtube. This is awesome. Is the rest of the cd this good???
@EternalLies I agree. I thought the raw production (compared to"Slave") is what the band was looking for, and "SubRace" certainly has an edge. However, I do feel the songwriting is not as crisp as their previous efforts.
@Retinen1 as good? Better. Personally I think this is their best album. Unfortunately it's only over the last two years or so that it appears to have come back into existence. I've seen Skid Row a few times and been an avid follower. For some reason, this album was disowned. When they toured Thickskin, they didn't play a single track off this album. Their loss. Still, they have plenty of tracks to play instead...
@axltyler Bob Rock said in an interview after this album's release he didn't want Bas to scream as much as he did on the first two records. He said that people already knew he could scream so he wanted him to try something different.
El productor del album fue Bob Rock, no me sorprende que los hizo sonar un poco como Grunge y Thrash cuando en los 90's eran los generos que mas vendian en los Estados Unidos
this album rocks....glad i saw the concert before they broke up....new stuff aint the same without bach....and yeah eileen rocks....live was awesome! rock on!
@slotter101 i think that the first album is even bettter than slave to the grind. as for this one it just stands above average. but it is only my opinion.

@Fistofmetal Yeah, sorry, but the untitled album was definitely pop. Or are you one of those people who thought Poison was heavy metal, too?
Dayman107 1 year ago
@Dayman107 Im with Fistofmetal Skid Row had no pop
& Poison Metal? are crazy?
Acekicken 1 year ago
@Acekicken Oh, okay, so all 3 songs off the first album that got radio play weren't played on MTV and in the Top 40 Countdown after the were released?
And NO Poison wasn't heavy metal. And neither was Skid Row's first album. Skid Row's first album AND almost all of Poison's music was 80's pop.
They didn't release a hard album until Slave to the Grind.
Do you people have any clue what pop music is?

@Retinen1 Oh yeah. Subhuman Race is a decent album, not as good as their self-titled album and Slave To The Grind though.
