You should check out the '99 air attacks by the Jugoslav airforce on the Tirana (Albanian capital) AFB, which was used by nato to support attacks on Jugoslavia.

You're thinking of the Iranian "Azarakhsh" fighter which is a reverse engineered copy of the Northrop F-5A. There's also the "Saeqeh" fighter which is also a reverse engineered F-5A but it supposedly more advanced than the F-5A, and the "Azarakhsh". Iranians claim that the "Saeqeh" is on par with an F-18F Super Hornet.

@tommiatkins The MIG31 is a giant heavy interceptor that you point at an incoming raid , climb to a vast altitude and pop off missiles then scream home in. The F5 belongs to a WVR environment where you dogfight. 60 years ago this was relevant.
Lacking any kind of knowlage on air warfare as you do, it's an easy mistake to make. The MIG 31 is probably a plane you have seen a pic of and liked, so you imagined yourself as a F18 pilot and thought you would impress the world by commenting.Sheesh!

You should check out the '99 air attacks by the Jugoslav airforce on the Tirana (Albanian capital) AFB, which was used by nato to support attacks on Jugoslavia.

You're thinking of the Iranian "Azarakhsh" fighter which is a reverse engineered copy of the Northrop F-5A. There's also the "Saeqeh" fighter which is also a reverse engineered F-5A but it supposedly more advanced than the F-5A, and the "Azarakhsh". Iranians claim that the "Saeqeh" is on par with an F-18F Super Hornet.
