Last night our performance at the DC vs Horn Lake game was phenomenal. Anyone in the band can back me up on that. If we take the same energy we had last night, and push it forward to today but make it better, I have thoughts....
Also, I will say that I may have been upset the first few weeks after state last year, but after having a friend from SH in the same class as me at a certain place (not giving it away) I have come to accept that our bands are both good.

Honestly, I was fine with SH winning since they hadn't gotten state in a while (if ever i'm not sure) but when they beat us in the marching caption I thought something was up. When we get 9th place in marching out of 50 or so bands at BOA St. Louis and we don't even place for the marching caption at State, something's wrong. Everything else was understandable. Yes, our music was weak, while Southaven's was alot fuller. They fixed that this year and it sounds a ton better.
As for the whole best man thing with the judge, that may just be a rumor started, or it could be true. Who knows? We may never know. So that can just be disregarded. But personally I was happy that the state trophy stayed in desoto county.
I think that was our first time, since our school sucked before we had a good director that came 7 years ago which puts us at our prime this year because everyone in band now had him since the very beginning unlike last year. As far as marching goes, I'm not quite sure what is up with that. Perhaps you guys had a better individual marching score. that would help a lot at BOA. It also depends on what the judge is looking at.
That's true. Our best performance, by far, was at state though so if anything what they judged us on at BOA would have been worse than what the state judges saw.

are you crazy! you used to be able too but then you lost your magic touch after beating Grenada. You have fallen out of power to the Desoto County bands such as SBEC, Southaven and Desoto Central. It's ok though, it happens to everyone.

Lewisburg...but then again, they're from Desoto County which has some of the best music programs in our state in both Choir and Band, but that's another story. I think the upcoming years show is sounding really great so far. The incoming freshmen are doing great so far, and after hearing us play with the drumline and precussion added in on the opener, I got chills. I really hope we all work hard for this year...I dont want my grade (seniors) to be the first to not have state medals :(
Few things I didnt understand is how did SH beat us in certain catagories that seemed outragious. According to random sources that ive heard from, one of the judges was the best man at the SH band directors wedding? Either way, I sorta agree and disagree. I mean Petal was great, but I still dont get the SH deal.

i agree with you except for harrison central. i didn't understand how they got better than us but Southaven's show was extremely clean and very musically tight as well as petal too. alot of the underclassmen were really mad saying that we deserved first on the way back and half of them had never actually seen southaven's show and couldn't judge that for themselves and i told them that.
yeah..Harrison wasn't very good. I don't remember what charlie and I decided about them. we might have had someone else in their place. I'm not really sure. I think DC is raising back up again. It's just going to take a little bit of time. I wish I could come back and help, but being in a whole different country disables me a little it.

That performance was some of the most fun I've ever had on the field with this band. Bravo to everyone in the band for an absolutely mind blowing marching season and thanks a bunch for putting this up for everyone to see Tyler! Kudos!
Still the best show we have done so far. I would hate to say it, but I am clueless on how this didnt rank higher. I mean I know Petals performance was good, that other band with the silver troops was good, and Southaven....well....played well while standing still? Great shows from everyone on the cd btw. This year was one epic year (including the fun in the stands) and I hope next year is just as good.
CA Productions sucks. They always do a terrible job with the video and audio.

This show was so much fun to do. Can't wait until next year. I'm ready to start marching again. I'll miss all the seniors though. :{
