Mr Simmons is eloquent, intelligent and philosophical. It is Ms Gross who is defensive and attempting to provoke. He is actually very humble and practical and poking fun at the intellengentsia and entertainment.
Ms. Gross is an award winning journalist interviewing hundreds of people for NPR. This had to be the worst program of her career - a waste of airtime due to a guest with very limited viewpoints.
it seems i'm the only one who doesn't think Mr Simmons was being arrogant. i thought he was being truthful and satirical..when he points out how entertainment is not that important, farmers and teachers are far more important. I also think he was a little irritated by how mundane the questions were ie what do you use to take off your make up and do you break out.

I do not have a problem with Gene's perspective as his own- I have a problem with him projecting his philosophy as all man's philosophy. I remember him asking an interviewer once- "Less or more women- which is it?" And he left out the answer which I have been seeking my whole life which is- "One woman" My search for one woman has cancelled out unwanted pregnancies and bad marriages, and I believe my method is the right one

no, some people make music because they believe that music can change the world, or at least have some influence. There's things that need to be changed. Some people are dissatisfied with society and want to make a difference. But I guess that's the difference between punk and glam rock. Everyone who sees music as more than just a hobby would like to live from it, maybe not everyone. But I doubt Joey Ramone had the same attitude as Gene.

I have great respect for Ms. Gross and her work and especially tremendous amounts of patience that she has with this guy. He continues to assault her throughout the whole interview, but she keeps her cool and only states that he is obnoxious. I really like that she doesn't stoop down to his level. Mr Simmons is eloquent, intelligent and philosophical. It is Ms Gross who is defensive and attempting to provoke. He is actually very humble and practical and poking fun at the intellengentsia and entertainment.

Ms. Gross is an award winning journalist interviewing hundreds of people for NPR. This had to be the worst program of her career - a waste of airtime due to a guest with very limited viewpoints.

it seems i'm the only one who doesn't think Mr Simmons was being arrogant. i thought he was being truthful and satirical..when he points out how entertainment is not that important, farmers and teachers are far more important. I also think he was a little irritated by how mundane the questions were ie what do you use to take off your make up and do you break out.
but most people agree with you.
maybe its because recently i spent time with Mr Simmons and found he and his family very polite.

You could have a giant vat of gold records and it might mean that you're a popular musician, but that absolutely - and indeed nothing - gives you the right to be rude towards another individual.
