I'm waiting for the inevitable expansion pact before buying this game. Hopefully by then all the AI issues and bugs will be resolved, also I don't like the 1936 to 1946playing time. That's way too short. I liked HOI2 Doomsday where the game would go on for decades. It allows you more time to plan and execute your plans.
i dont get how i start war with an other nation. my neutrality is 60 % or so and other nations are like 25% and for some reason i need to get about the same percentage but i dont know how to. how to WAR in this game??
Yeah i got it now, i already raped UK, Soviet Union, scandinavia and my fellow axis countries have annexed other countries too with my help in turkey and greence and yugoslavia and so on.
But my game keeps crashing, really buggy game, so its annoying to play now, else i'm busy taking over africa.
Compared to the games of the Total War serie, I think a lot of people will find this to be quite "dry" and boring.
There's a lot more micromanagement (it doesn't nesescarily need to be since you can assign tasks to the AI) and requires more planning.
It is as MadsDreier puts it, "1000 times more complicated" :p
(I'm not saying it is a bad game when mentioning that a lot don't like it, personally I love it, but I think far more people enjoy the Total War games).
I just tried the demo, and it is boring as hell and frustrating because of all the popups I get - but something keep pulling me back into the game, like I want to do that and try that and because the most powerful nation - its kinda wierd
I too am a fan of the total war games. Imagine the total war games without actually being able to command armies on the battlefield. However, the campaign map has ALOT more detail. Also, the game isn't about conquering the whole world, it's about winning WW2
I think so too. My best friend is a direct descendant of the samari of the Nagaoka line. One city and one temple have been named after these great warrior line..
Personally im a fan of russian history, and looking at african cultures, in the least nerdiest way, and as a whole, I find China and korea even more ineresting than japan, but yeah japans to asia like England was to Europe sort of....except there wasnt really a time when japan ruled the world by seas, just in the sense that its diffrent because it an island.
I preordered this already on Steam, being a fan of Paradox Interactive... but I have never quite gotten into the HoI series and am worried about what looks like a steep learning curve... I can't wait until they update Vicky though 8^)
Conquering London should knock britain out of the war, I shouldn't have to continue fighting a britain that is solely composed of some caribbean colonies.
True, i really hate it how i can't annex the UK even after talking over all of England and Scotland just because they have colony's in Africa and India. I mean in the real world many of those Colony's like India for example could possibly just have broken away for the UK altogether if they wanted too in case the UK were invaded. But it appears we no longer have to suffer from this problem in Hearts of Iron 3 as the developers have said that the new games uses a country morale system that
calculates the enemy's victory's vs defeats and uses that information to create a % from 0% to 100% so once the % gets too low then the other side will simply surrender. You know what that means? WE NO LONGER HAVE TO SPEND YEARS TAKING EVERY SINGLE PROVINCE IN THE SOVIET UNION JUST TO ANNEX THEM!!!! HORRAY!!!!!!
theres a new 'government in exile' system. I don't know all the details, but basically, if your mainland gets taken over, even though theres nothing to govern, you can exist in the safety of an allied country (should the choose to take you in) and conduct intelligence missions and fund partisans
This is an awesome remix of my favourite tune from HOI2. I can't wait for this game to be released... no doubt my computer wont be powerful enough to run it though...
I Think paradox should have stuck with real music...their own compositions are merely adequate, I want to play while listening to the epic 1812 overture, not some cheap imitation of it.
But i suppose i can always turn the music down and open up winamp.
It would be great to have spesific musics for every continent but i think they are going to make the music just like they have done in every HoI....all tracks are played in every country but that Japan track just game the the EU3 feelings. In the other videos i can feel the HoI in the music tracks =D
Actually, Paradox said they were giving each country there own tracks. So if your playing as the Soviet Union for example, then you would only hear Soviet style music and nothing like what you just heard in this video.
I know, as soon as I saw the interface I thought, "This just seems like EU3 in a modern setting." Oh well, it's the gameplay that really matters, and I can't wait for it.
It's not EU3 in a modern setting. I have both Hearts of Iron 2 and EU 3 and there is a huge gameplay difference. This may look like a EU interface at first glance but it's still a whole different kind of game.
ntnimara: And rightfully so! What's even better is, that you can edit the borders, provinces (add new ones) etc. far easier and practically than in HoI2!
Yea, Japan was really easy to take as the Soviet Union simply by building building some paratroopers and then have them invade the main land. And once you got nukes you could more or less cripple the whole of Japan simply by launching nukes at there 5-7 mainland provinces. I hope things won't be as easy this time around!
Awesome. I really hope the automation AI is competent enough to do coordinated landings. Micromanaging that in HOI2 was something I rarely had patience for and it would only be that much worse with so many more provinces.
How bout some long gameplay videos or a detailed AAR for us forum junkies?
this game is amesing, you have to think of like 1000 things at the time. and every move you make does affect the game

lester2222 2 years ago
Much like in the real world.. Starting a war is pretty hard in HOI3
If you feel like skipping the annoying part of using espionage/propaganda to get the war started.
1. Pic a nation where you are guaranteed to get in on the action.
Japan, Italy, Germany, etc... All these will SURELY see their share of the action.
2.Align your self with the Axis and prepare to fight the British empire.
3. Use espionage.
Spys at home lower neutrality.
Spys at the target country increase their threat
