  • Nice hat. I like the colour, very befitting someone like the big lama. If he put on a yellow clown glasses and a smiley button on his toga, then I think he's ready.

  • what's the reason for wearing a hat indoor??? Especially a hat which can not cover his head~ so funny~~

  • @fyh0052 Maybe to keep the bright lights out of his eyes, spotlights can be pretty distracting I would imagine. The visor thing can look silly, but who really cares about looking funny any-more. =D

  • H.H. is always smiling and happy during all interviews. He does not show any signs of hatred nor anger towards issues on DS. Even when he talks about DS, he smiles. Could this means he is using another of his unique ways to promote himself through DS? You never know H.H. could also be a DS practitioner.

  • so funny HH Dalai Lama...he has hat

  • China illegally occupied Tibet

    During the 1950s killing over!

1.2 million Tibetans. Destroying thousands Of monasteries and homes Under His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Tibetans have Take the nonviolent approach For freedom.

  • I bet being around him there is a sense of peace, joy, happiness and everything good, his also very funny.. reminds me of my grandpa ..

  • I was there! :-)

  • Many people, when saying "Free Tibet", don't know the real history of Tibet and Dalai Lama. They think Tibet before 1950s was a utopian Shangri-La like some Hollywood movies. However this utopean Shangri-La was actually built upon slaves' blood and flesh, brutal and cruel theocracy and feudalism. The slaves or serfs lived miserably, and actually had no any human right!

  • Most empires were built from the benefit of exploiting others. The Great Wall of China was said to have claimed a life for every metre of the wall built. Even Capitalism you need some one to exploit be it child labours or cheap labour.

  • "Most empires were built from the benefit of exploiting others". That is aboslutely true. Go back to study UK's histroy you will find how the British explored other countries and how they put their dirty hands everywhere including Asia and Afirca. And look at what they did today in Irac! While one out of every three Iraqis have been killed, wounded or displaced since 2003, why don't you care about it?! Because oil is great for the Great Britan? How hypocritical you are!

  • whoreallycarestibet: You keep assuming I don't care about Iraq, or what Britain has done. I was illustrating the similarities of China's occupation, exploitation and imperialist actions of Tibet. I didn't want you to 'sugar coat' China's reasons for their so called liberation. I never said I agreed with my country's actions in the past and present. I would like to know if you agreed with the kidnapping and incarceration of a 6 yr old kid. Do you think it is justified?

  • jonnyfreedomwriter: what can I say to a people like you with poor knowledge but rich rumors of Tibet! Just give you some reference: you can go to Professor Barry Sautman's reseaerch about Tibet. Prof. Barry Sautman is from UK, and he spent the past 20 years on Tibeten issue. He met the "kidnapped" 6yr old kid in person, and he has high-level contacts with both Chinese Government and the exile. Do some reading, and do some research. Be wise, instead to be stupid.

  • Thanks for tip on Sautman. It is a good read. He's from Hong Kong university. It does not do CCP any favours giving Sautman more clout than any UN delegates. I'm not saying it discredits the fact that he has seen the child. But he has earned himself trust with the CCP makes me a little suspicious. The fact remains, this does not justify the Gedhun C.Nyima's kidnapping and incarceration. If so what was the Charge?

  • Dalai is jumping around like a clown to please his western masters, then he can get paid if his masters are sastified.

  • The Dalai Lama has not collected as much blood money compared to China. Selling arms and establishing Totalitarian governments who use force and intimidation over it's citizens. How is China's glass house? You are not worthy of casting stones at anyone. There is no profit in 'ill gotten gains'.

  • to jonnyfreedomwriter: hi, how much do you know about Dalai?! did you you he has got paid from CIA since 1960s? did you know he was the biggest serf owner back to 50 years ago? Get yourself educated before you make any stupid judgement!

  • whoreallycarestibet: Serf owner, that maybe so but has China really improved the Tibetan's situation? Have you treated them any better? The numbers that are escaping Tibet into the sanctuary of India and Nepal says a lot about your compassion. "Out of frying pan and into the fire, springs to mind". Maybe China should attend one of his workshops. The world may be a better place. Wouldn't you agree?

  • jonnyfreedomwriter:I don't know how much you know about Tibet, but I myself have been to Tibeten areas for international development projects. The people there enjoy their happy life and they have freedonm for their religions. Usually the family send their eldest son to the temper to learn budism and to be a monk. I do not understand what you meant by "Have you treated them any better". Of course their life is much better than before, there are no more serfs in Tibet.

  • To whoreallycarestibet: Hi. With regards to the CIA comment: If your house is invaded and you have to flee for your life, surely you would use a key to get back in and make it safe and secure. Even if the CIA is the key. When China was occupied they sought foreign assistance to rebel against the Japanese. So why try to demonise and isolate the Dalai Lama if he's seeking a peaceful solution?

  • jonnyfreedomwriter: as to CIA's support to Dalai, 'The whole idea was to keep the Chinese occupied, keep them annoyed, keep them disturbed. Nobody wanted to go to war over Tibet...It was a nuisance operation. Basically, nothing more,' says former CIA agent Sam Halpern. If you really cares about Tibet, you should get more knowledge or should look it by your own eyes! In addition, Tibet has been a part of China for more than 800 years, therefore your statement was stupid!

  • (1)I will try to get more knowledge but I'm a bit skeptical of the accuracy of the information, especially when monasteries, books, historical objects etc have been destroyed. We've seen this in Afghanistan when the Taliban destroyed objects of historical significance, just to hold the monopoly on the 'Truth'. History then becomes "His Story".

  • (2) Regardless of historical ownership, I think the Tibetans should have the right to run their own country their own way. It's like India reclaiming Pakistan, Afghanistan it was all Hindustan or Bharat. The notion that the Tibetans were liberated by the Chinese is just spin. I don't think you were invited by the Tibetan people to 're-claim' Tibet.

  • jonnyfreedomwriter:since when Tibet has become an independent country? even Dailai himself said he would never declare the independence of Tibet! As Dalai's follower, why is your opion is so different with your holyness? My comments to you are the same: get yourself educated, and stop making ugly rumors about Tibet!

  • It's funny how you like to use the Dalai Lama when he makes statements that suits CCP's political agendas. "Ugly Rumours" are like your comments of how the Tibetans enjoy a happy life and their lives are much better than before. Next you'll be saying all the citizens of Zimbabwe, Burma and Darfur are enjoying a happy Life. Who are are you trying to kid.

  • jonnyfreedomwriter: at least I have been to Tibeten areas and saw their real lifes by my own eyes! How much do you know, and what did you see about current Tibet?! You can even provide any evidence and facts about your rumors! Stop your dirty imaginations about Tibet!

  • The evidence and reports from Tibet, various journalist, Human rights organisations etc all must be wrong! You'll even say Al-Jazeera, once labelled anti-American are wrong and have some interest in this 'World Conspiracy'. You expect me to believe China, CCTV, Xinhua are right! I'd rather stick with my lying eyes and ears than listen to CCP's words. I don't have to go to Zimbabwe, Burma and Darfur to see with my own eyes! Your trip to Tibet was controlled, limited and short sighted.

  • jonnyfreedomwriter: obviously you are fed by your biased media. I myself, like many other young generations in China, do not believe what the government siad, since they already lost their reputation among the Chinese people. Instead, we look truth from both sides and learn the knowledge from academiea. Therefore we are more objective and more knowledgeable than you are! You are so brainwashed by your biased media, pity for you!
