@tomitstube The guy Ted Williams hit it off of was Rip Sewell. His blooper was pretty much an eephus. The Kid hit the homer in the 1946 All-Star Game.
@halbfingerg ~ yep, that's the one, thanks. there's quite a story behind that pitch. it was the only homer sewell ever gave up with the eephus, williams swung and missed on the first one. he dared sewell to throw another, sewell obliged and williams hit that one out. williams later admitted he was way out of the batters box and could have been called out.
uh Asians can't play baseball to save their lives? you must be an idiot or something lets see Japan won world baseball classic in 06 and 09 and South Korea won gold in 08, Japan actually won gold in 1984 when it was a demonstration sport, you're a damn fool faisdh
Notorious, great post. I love how everybody assumes that just because a pitch isn't 95 mph, that it'll be easy to hit it out. Everybody needs to get a clue and realize 80% of pitching is about keeping the hitter off balance aka be one step ahead of the batter.
one time i threw an eephus to a batter twice in a row... He swung SOOOOO early. he must have thought i was gonna follow that eephus up with a fastball
@faisdhfiaehtuiawe OH that explains why the two teams the world baseball classic finals were both from asia, americans just LET them win because white people are gods and can't do anything wrong right? it was chivalry to an inferior race so i guess i should bow down to you to make time to even reference us asians you infinitely superior white master
1. If you don't swing, the next pitch is most likely going to be a fastball which is twice as fast and really catches you off.
2. You do swing and make contact it's not going anyway because you double stepped. player are conditioned to step as soon as the ball is released and because the ball takes twice as long to get there they take another step and throw themselves off balance because their feet are two wide at that point.
3. You swing and miss, making yourself look like a jackass
@NotoriousX5 I think the easiest way to avoid fooling yourself while facing his "slow pitch" is to not pay attention for it, hope it's a ball, and look fastball on his next pitch.
@NotoriousX5 4. you square up and make solid contact for a line-drive single. The problem is, most guys recognize it and then decide to try and punish the pitcher for trying it by blasting a homer, instead of just getting on base.
nope, Yu Darvish is really young and hes good. but hes becoming better and has future like Tim Lincecum but hes not the best in whole world he might be the best in Japan and I'm Korean and currently i know that Japanese baseball is better than Korean baseball but i just hate that when Japanese baseball players like Bichiro and Jojhima talking shit about Korean baseball and shit and Yu Darvish? Im not a hater but there's Tim Lincecum, dude? The youngest Cy Young Winner?? Wow
yah nolan ryan - randy johnson- cy young-roger clemons-greg maddoux- sandy koufax....name a asian hall of fame pitcher.... dont talk out of you ass you retard
yea that pitch is supposed to be slow and EXTREMELY unexpected lol. and you can see its effectiveness at 0:59 you see the batter just choke up before the pitch is even close. i throw an eephus on average 3 times a game.
85-87 mph fastball, 2 seam, power curve, hard slider, -10 mph palmball. and when a 42 mph eephus pitch you used to hit when you were 8 years old comes at when your ready to scoop up a power pitch...it simply embaresses hitters lol

Hard to hit.
Have to hit it at a certain point.
Also because it is so different from all the other pitches, as a batter is trained to hit a ball a certain way.
Also makes it hard for the umpire to call.
Not a pitch you can throw all the time.
Does remind me of a Matt Morris curveball though, albeit a lot higher.
