  • so much debate over the best version of this song. Forget the word best, i'll just say this is my favourite. I think Bono's improv is beautiful. The fact they dug up this song after 25 years is amazing. Proof that they haven't forgotten (entirely) where they're from.

  • I wish I'd known this song when they played it... I was at one of these shows.

  • For me this song has never been long enough... I remember back in the 80's I would replay this very short song over and over and over again.

  • @Keruaran

Yeah,it's like a pistachio in a nutshell, delicious but not enough.

  • Very diferent performance os The Ocean!

    Good!

  • Adam went into a different key at 0:58, and it in fact sounded good, but at 1:03 it was already too dissonant. At 1:26 The Edge played a wrong final chord of the phrase, and Bono's improvisation sounded like he forgot the words again. So, hardly the best version...

  • omg, it seemed like i was the only one freaking out in my section when i heard the first few notes. This was the only time I sang along through the whole song...well, at least what I could since Bono improvised lyrics.

  • U2 on the small stage 27 years ago was better, at least for this song and others of that era.

  • I don't agree at all. Electric Co. during the Vertigo tour... none was better.

  • Ok,... have you seen this vid though?: 'U2 The Ocean OGWT 1981'

Do the search on that and watch it. I suppose it's a matter of which U2 era one prefers. The '81 example is much more 'real'.
