Splendid! It was the full Japan concert , which contained 11 songs / Cmadd9 posted 8 of them. Could somebody upload the rest - 3 songs , then I'll be happy and will ready to die because nothing else on Earth will bother me.
Beautiful duets of high accomplishments, Mr. Klugh, Mr. Benson, respective great musicians, God bless them to continue the wonderful music for the ears, and thank God for Guitars, my father plays guitar and it will always be etched in my heart and soul ....
superb song . wow wtf happened in 2 decades???? i just dont relate to today AT ALL and i know its not just because im an old get ,if music is a gauge of how we doin then we are f*****.
@balloydspiritsoul you are an undeveloped ape...the core of hip hop is as pure as it gets. thats why tupac and j.cole sampled this (and other) incredible tune(s)
1st time i saw GB was in 1972 during the CTI/Kudu years. He burnt the stage down almost...killer bebop guitar. Best since Pat Martino & Wes Montgomery. Saw Earl Klugh in 1982...what a nice guy. Most kids today don't have the attention span to appreciate this type of improvisation but i can't get enough of it.
Both players Earl Klugh and George Benson has a unique style of their own. The lifetime achievement award is long overdue for them. Both players are Amazing!!! In playing the guitar. Thanks for posting.
This is so awesome! It brings back so many memories. I remember seeing Earl Klugh at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano back in the 80's. He was so good. What I would do to have that night one more time......
Luv George Benson, he's so soulful....I remember anxiously awaiting the moment to see George at a summer Jazz Fest and the other George Benson came up. Man!!! cant tell you how disappointed I was.
i watch this video at least twice a day and every time @1:24 it kills me to watch george make a mistake... there must have been some kryptonite on that stage
@xXironraiderXx Joe Pass used to say " Don't be afraid to mess up, we're not robots...if you make a mistake make up for it by what you play afterwards".
@purplefonch you can tell he meant to play the pull off from A to G.. don't get me wrong it still sounds great and if i weren't watching his expression and gestures you would think it was intentional
I would like to see Mr Benson, Mr Klugh, Mr Eric Clapton and BB King on stage together...maybe Fourplay with them as well, with George Duke on Piano....and Kurk Whalum to make the band complete...now dat would blow up a stage
Can ya'll imagine Earl Klugh, George Benson and Jonathon Butler performing on stage together. OMG!!!! I believe that stage would explode! Talk about a DREAM performance!!
Thumbs up...voted for all comments...great music..saw Benson live,B/mingham NEC...brought the house down...it was like someone put one of his cd s on...London Philharmonic backing....unforgettable night!
Your both are terrific! in this piece.George' vocal in this song was dynamtic! Live in Japan made it more real. Thanx for playing this tune it remind back in the day.
Earl Klugh composed a beautiful song but I'm very thankful that the groovy George Benson found interest to pump some jammin' life into this song. I adore Earl's original version but right next to it in the upper level to hear is the amazing version from GB. In no way am I dismissing the original Earl Klugh version but yes I did mistakenly hear GB's version 1st. Earl is one of my favorite guitarists because he's so humble. It's cat's like me that challenges him to keep it lol. Forgive me EK
Ha ha. What distinguishes George Benson from Carl Weathers, is GB's awesome guitar playing & incredible singing....whereas Carl Weathers is a fierce dynamite actor and ex-football player. There's a song upload I heard on you tube last year that features Carl singing an upbeat soul/r&b/funk song. It was a surprise!! He sounds pretty damn good as a singer!!!!
Thanks for taking the time to share this video clip!
It brins back memories of one of the most wonderful, uplifting concerts I've attended.
It reminds me of the concert I attended in which George and Earl performed at the Academy of Music together, with an orchestra to back them up on some tunes.
That occured before I met my wife who has never seen them live.
I intend to offer these George and Earl video clips for my wife and children to enjoy.
George Benson and Earl Klugh have always been among my most favored Guitarists and Jazz Guitarists. I've witness their duet concert when they were in Philadelphia, PA, USA, at the Academy of Music, among the greatest acoustically balanced concert halls and among the greatest places to hear beautiful music. I've attended numerous Earl Klugh and George Benson concerts.
Jimmy Bruno, Wes Montgomery, Jimmy Rainey, Herb Ellis, Tal Farlow, Barney Kessel, Johnny Smith are among my favorites.
I'm always a little disappointed because I've never seen Benson perform any songs from his "Livin' Inside Your Love" album because I think it's one of his best. This track and "Prelude to Fall" are 2 of the prettiest instrumentals he ever did (I love Klugh's version of it too, I know he wrote it so technically it's his song and his solo at the end of Benson's version is kick ass)
WOW! Thanks for the post. Two of the best ever. Smooth, tasteful and perfectly executed. Went to see George Benson in Cincy, late eighties. One of the best concerts from a wonderful musician.
Great phrasing there!
Big up!
