Well, there are those who believe that Super Smash Bros. Brawl isn't canon (I disagree, but that's another story), so it doesn't necessarily count. On the other hand, in Sonic and the Black Knight Sonic both carries and kills with a weapon (a magic sword, to be exact). so,unless Sonic meant guns specifically and not weapons in general, yes, he's a hypocrite. (But I still like him more than I like Shadw.)

@zvermilyer3 Well sonic has an excuse in Black Knight because Caliburn's the only thing that can kill Arthur, so he has to use it, whether he likes it or not. And from someone who's beaten the game 100%, I can guarantee he didn't like it one bit.

Even in the actual games Sonic's statement is hypocritical. He claims that he would never use weapons in general, not guns in particular. Well, a sword is a weapon, and he uses one in "Sonic and the Black Knight", so that makes him a hypocrite. (And yes, I DO know that this video is intended as a joke. I was just pointing something out, that's all.)
