Everyone gives it's own addition to Delain, but Martijn still does the major part of songwriting and creative decisons. So that the Delain sound remains.

When they found the right formation for the line up, they spent 24/7 working out their plans somewhere in Germany. But the feel to develope an album has been there right away.

This translation covers a big part of the interview.

She tells what has changed in the relation to the band. Their first album, lucidity was more of a project featuring guest artists rather then a album with a steady line up. That has majorly changed, they got theirselves an own line up, so they could come up with their songs live. That worked out so well it got out of hand, when they started working on april rain. It was almost a hard fact that the whole band would be working on it, instead of some freelance guest appearences.
