  • this tortures me.

  • One of the most beautiful songs ever written.

  • 11 people's stones are blurry

  • I'm surprised there's not any comments about "afraid of monsters brang me here".

Anyways, this... this makes me sad. In a way I can't even explain.

  • @ReaperTeh Oh, there were plenty of those a while back. Never even heard of Afraid of Monsters myself until then.

  • I have been listening to this all day on repeat. Brought me to tears.

  • Damn... sad!

  • i love this song for thinking

  • Repeat forever....

  • @blackred2010 this kid does acid

  • maybe when the body dies, the energy becomes transformed into something else like a flower, molecule of water or stardust. maybe when the body dies, thats it, maybe when the body dies, whatever we want to happen, ultimately happens. as you can tell, i dont know what happens, and to be honest, i dont want to know. i dont think anybody knows. we are all the same in that way. we are born, we live, and we die. whatever happens berfore birth or after death is something incomprehendable. thats cool

  • @dma2012 yeah i agree. everything i believe operates on a wavelength and when it flatlines our energy just transfers to another medium, not neccessarily human form but maybe a rock, flower whatever. i do believe in god. i mean how does something as complex as the human mind form. the beauty of sights across the world up and above y'know how?. maybe were not meant to know these things. i dont know.

  • Takes me to a place in a different universe or running my palms through the greens in a meadow :)

  • Hey guys, if you like really chill electronic tracks like this, some really good ones are Cinder Cone and Ever Decreasing Circles by Tipper. They have percussion but their both really, really good.

  • Afraid of Monsters' main theme song. The developer made a good choice choosing it.

  • @Cheezrguy We also picked a lot of other Aphex Twin songs for it such as Rhubarb, Trees, etc.

  • This song has so many feels to it. You can think of it as some kind of loneliness, sadness, or very creepy lol. Man i love this song.

  • I could feel the very blood running through my vains when I listen to this work of art

  • I think that all SAW2 is fuckin scary music. Dont listen to it just before sleep ;] When I'm listening to any track from it I feel like I was in hell. Completely mind blowing thing, wow. SAW1 is much easier to listen, yeah.

  • @AlbertX78 im listening to it and i feel happy :)

..i think it depends of what a man got in his heart.. can it be?

  • @MrZetzon Yes. You must have only darkness in your heart if it makes you happy lol :D

  • @AlbertX78 no no.. It completly not like that..

I have everything insid.. just like each one of us..

but most of i have good things 4 real :)

    one Love bro

  • @MrZetzon You know what? I just understood one thing. When you are sad and listen to sad music, you feel that the music understand your feelings, lol. And when you are sad, but listening to happy music, you feel some more sad because deep inside your heart you feel, that you have 'worse life' than others. I hope you understand. Sorry for my poor English, in my country, just me and my father knows that language.

  • @AlbertX78 to me this is very peaceful, not sad or scary

  • @AlbertX78 if u want to we can talk more about "it" .. that's my e mail :zetzon@wp.pl

and sorry 4 keeping u waiting but that was quick week :)

  • @MrZetzon Po cholerę się męczyłem z tym angielskim? PO CHOLERĘ? :D

  • @AlbertX78 ja ponawiam propozycję napisanie do mnie na mail :) chętnie poznałbym kogoś kto słucha dobrej muzy hehe.. mało takich osób ogólnie w polsce przyznaj..

  • I can literally listen to this track for an entire afternoon without getting tired or without realizing it's the same piece of music over and over again. It keeps getting nice images and feelings or thoughts and memories passing through my mind.

Please, someone, tell me you do that too...

    AFX FTW !

  • @MrShuggieTodd me too

  • you know what makes ambient tracks like stone in focus and rhubarb so personal to me?

when i listen to it, it feels like a live i've never had, things i never did and persons i've never met.

but i always think to myself maybe in your next life. life itself is just so huge, random and chaotic but somehow it all makes sense if you look at the big picture.

  • @MrMushroom123 it is deep that what U wrote...

  • burial - endorphin sounds very similar

  • I have this and Rhubarb on repeat whenever I play fallout.

  • it's the kind of song that would backdrop being the last person on earth.

  • I wouldn't trade the feeling this music brings on for anything in the entire world.

  • this makes me feel like ive been dead asleep under the ocean for millions of years

  • There is so much beauty in this. I feel it in my bones

  • I use this song to go to sleep and it works EVERYTIME.

  • Ever since I first heard this song, I've had to listen to it at least once a month. Keeps me sane. This and NIN's 13 Ghosts II.

  • Simply beatuiful...3

  • Why do i always go back to this track? it moves me in a way that is not right...cold,dark, and wrong....but still beautiful...simply amazing...

  • @nnicholss really cold dark wrong? hmmm strabge...I find this track super comforting like ...nothing else mars anymore and evering is said and ok...a deep meditation of sorts ..;o)

  • @nnicholss

Same kind of feeling here. Yet, this is the best written piece ever in my opinion. It contains every aspect of feeling.

  • Sitting on a plain, watching the clouds float by as evening turns to dusk turns to night. It's ten minutes and six seconds of serenity and nobody knows about it but you. Kinda like having your own private island, this music is.

  • @UnitedDiscord "Kinda like having your own private island" Couldn't of said it better myself.

  • @Sockbot27 briliant words..

  • one of many glorious songs which expand your consciousness everytime you listen to them. i wonder why there are so many people out there which can't feel any emotions about ambient and other unknown genres

  • This is a Stars of The Lid, not Aphex Twin

  • @PhotonCherades this is aphex twin

  • @SimpleMachineMusic yeah, but it's Stars Of The Lid.

  • I always thought of this track and Rhubarb as a kind of yin yang. I find Rhubarb to be very heavenly and soothing, whereas this is quite dark and melancholic, but also strangely soothing. I wonder if Aphex Twin had something like that in mind when he composed them.

Anyway, time to turn off the lights and listen to this as I stare at the stars.

  • ''Mr trimp, stop pulling that insensitive face'' ''NO GILBET'' but timee is bleek :''(

  • peaceful melancholy..for me it'S not depressing

  • Spoilsbury toastboy

  • Like cartwheeling down a vast corridor, forgetting that at one time all it took to be happy was a swingset and sunshine, green palms and knees; childhood. Replaced, all that, with sighing in traffic, medication commercials, long lines, tired quiet trains. But some songs, like this one, return you to the swingset in the sun.

  • Obsessed with this song but I can hardly listen to it anymore... so many memories.. makes me sad as hell

  • @Goodforrj I know exactly what you mean. Strange, isn't it?

  • The whole SAW II album gives me extreme feelings of nostalgia, and made me realize what I cherish the most in my life.

It is not people, it is not myself, it's the fully calm feeling of being a spectator, a guest in an alien place, just wandering around and being completely contempt with just looking at everything around me.

Like a dream, it's a melancholy feeling, but it's also the calmest feeling. The feeling of being here, but not physically, like a spirit, with no goals, total relaxation

  • @kircheisable

And that's also where I make the connection with nostalgia, and feelings and thoughts from childhood.

Because as a child, you do feel more like a guest in an alien place.

I remember as a kid just being in my own world, feeling completely safe, exploring outside, taking in all the senses, the atmosphere. And being completely fine with that. I didn't need toys, I found more than enough calmness and feelings of being free and contempt just basically being a spectator.

  • @kircheisable

And yes I know this is just a bunch of shitty text, I'm not trying to sound intellectual or deep.

Just sharing my feelings, and wondering if anyone else has similar thoughts, because most people say I think like this because I'm afraid of people. Of course I can be afraid of people, everyone is in some way, but this is something else.

  • @kircheisable cool story bro.

  • Comment removed

  • @kircheisable Im with You but...

I can't say that we are without a goal..

Just tell me..Richard have a goal or not..?

For me it's simple like this ..and my goal is the same- that's how I feel..

Must to do something with it btw...

And SAW ..hmm for me each song is different.. different story..

And Stone In Focus.. for me is a hmmm...like "voice of whole space" straight from there.. and for me "the voice of god" even :)

    <3

  • @kircheisable

    Pretentious shit talks bro.

  • R.I.P spoilsbury Toast Boy...

  • fucking amazing...dark,wrong,haunting,ethereal,beautiful, moves me in a way that is not right...simply EPIC!!!!!!!

  • floating through space and emptiness towards eternity

  • I take a deep breath. This song takes me to the moon. I look down a crater and see many unearthly women. I go down the crater on a long, glowing white, threaded zip wire, in slow motion. I am circled by the women as they come closer, reflections of bright colours bounce off every side of the crater. They embrace me. We hug. The world stops, and for 10 minutes, 7 seconds...we have peace.

  • It's full of sadeness...

  • @77Burry Except there's no Gregorian chant and French musing.

  • @ElectrumZephyr Simple, spiritual, and reflective.

  • @77Burry i feel love... ?!

and that love is so powerfull that makes me cry.. sorry for my english :P it's not best :P

  • perfection

  • This Song Makes Me Think Of The G

ood Memories That Happen. It Makes Me Wanna Go Back In Time And Just.......Relive It.

  • "I can feel this song in ways you can only even conceive of imagining" - some dickhead

  • @TheRuffWoof Wow. Stay away from that person if you can.

  • Strongest song ever made, ever......... so depressing, love it...

  • Nigel.

  • Nigel.

  • Take a deep breath... I am in a forest out there somewhere.

  • this moves me to places that cannot be described in "words"

  • @dma2012 Does it take you to a forest? to Saturn? To a land where the only beings are fairies???

  • @Xpioto100 those are all good places, but it goes beyond those places,. maybe it goes into the future, the very very far future where we dont need words to comunicate, just telepathic ideas and emotions. or maybe it goes far into the past before words were invented. i would like to discuss it further, but typing words on a keyboards will only go so far.

  • @dma2012 When I imagine this song, I see the world empty. Everyone is gone and I am just walking around a lake. The lake doesn't even move, there are no waves - complete stillness. I see flashes of the past, brief subtle memories of my childhood. I just continue walking, exploring the vast world of nothingness. That's how I see it when I let my imagination go.

  • Struggling to keep eyes open.... ahhh brilliance.

  • When i close my eyes and listen to this, it feels like im falling. Not joking, it's fucking incredible.

  • ez a kedvencem

  • kinda makes me realize how small we are. I'm just one person on this Earth, in this one galaxy among trillions, a universe with no edge. what's the chance of me being here, alive?

  • @ycoby28 given the size and complexity of the universe you might also ask; what are the chances of you not being there alive?

  • So deep, Pure.... Genius!

  • thanks to the asshole who said something about salad fingers this song is completely ruined for me

  • That would be your brain pockets sir. Playing tricks on one.

  • Afraid Of Monsters led me here.

  • I always listen to this when im sad....I cant really tell if it makes the mood easier for me...i have alot of shit in my life

  • Ran out of characters.

I had to say, that I sat in the library and "stoned" to this, and found out, that it is perfect rhythm to breath to. Yeah, really.

    -

    (isn't he a wacko?)

  • A little deeper than "good" beetles. The cartoon is too short to dive into the song.

Like a prognosis by the health reminder:

    -

Once the only some of the dose is taken, it can evolve negative.

I would however not say negative for this song. Just sad.

Even more sad. It is just not stone in focus. I think it rather is

memories in focus, when it plays in David Firth's cartoon

(not to mention that I've seen all of his cartoons).

    -

But did I say it was a great song, best in the album/ambient/world?

  • There is no more zeal for overwhelming annoyance.

  • 10:07 minutes of peace in my life... Thank you.

  • This song has been playing in my head for 17 years. The record will stay broken.

  • This makes me think of Mars, the planet, for some reason. Like looking at the Martian landscape, desolate, red, lifeless, but they say that Mars could have been like Earth a long time ago, but that time came and went and all that's left is the shell of its former self. Good music, Spoilsbury Toast Boy led me here.

  • @mec567 I love Aphex Twin too, but please, wipe the semen off your knuckles before you reach for the keyboard and type such grandiose compliments.

  • This track, unfortunately, isn't on the CD version. The label chose to release this on 2 CD's, instead of 3 like the vinyl. And they left the track off because of space.

You can find it on a compilation CD from 1994 called "Excursions In Ambience: The Third Dimension". The track on there is called "# 19".

If you want to take the extra time, I would re-arrange the tracks to match the vinyl version and burn the album on 3 CD's. That way "Stone In Focus" fits on there, and it flows better, too.

  • The thing about this song, is the fact, that we can just listen to a simple melody and be transported to a different dimension or realm.

    Aphex Twin isn't just music.

It is another form of life.

  • so THIS is the start-menu music for "Afraid of the Dark: Director's Cut"........

  • @AaronIsPyro I thought the main menu theme was original soundtrack, it fits well with the game.

  • @BingKoh I thought that too.... That's why every time I listen to this I get chills........

  • Did I just get high with this piece of art?

  • Smiling.

  • Thanks to spoilsbury toast boy, I'm in love with this song... I MISS YOU, TOAST BOY! <3

  • makes me think of discovering new worlds in a scifi universe

  • i miss you spoilsbury toast boy

  • very important album

  • i love you too shithead

  • @DjCallow97 yea me 2

  • @snookerloopy88 funny, Richard D. James mainly has his roots in Cornwall. I bet he even created this track there, but that's just a guess

  • Healing Music...<3

  • Such a sad and depressing song, but still awesome

  • one word. Beautiful.

  • :-)

  • I love you all you set of bastards

  • hmm yes, beetles know this sort of thing, beetles are good doctors

  • SKRILLEX VIDEO OF HIM FALLING BROUGHT ME HERE

  • Whenever I'm upset, this song makes me calm down.

  • Sounds like a song from Sling Blade...

  • glad to say my thought are "salad fingers" free....

  • onedeepmoan

  • I feel like I'm walking down a long candle lit hallway in the dead of night with clocks ticking along the walls.

  • This is song is in a mod of half-life called afraid of monsters and afraid of monsters dc personally I find this song depressing but it fits with the menu (gamestartup) of afraid of monsters

  • i remember listening to this on acid for the first time. Sight, sound, and feelings converged in harmony, and i sat there crying at the beauty and perfection of everything, letting the energy of the universe flow through.

  • @chazzithebrit I didn't need acid to realise the beauty of this music. I listened to it on a bus, in the rain, after a slightly depressing day. It was beautiful.

  • @chazzithebrit me too. Although I didn't use acid, the purity of this was enough for me

  • "Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it we go nowhere."

    -Carl Sagan

  • @razedeezy so true

  • Multiple eargasms.

  • feelin so relaxed man. i listen to this and close my eyes and it takes me to the ocean. so chilled out right now.

  • Are you Afraid of Monsters?

  • Comment removed

  • Makes me think of the passage of time, and how humans take so much in life for granted.

  • BITCHAZZ CRACKKKERZ

  • Good beetles, we are.

  • Mucus is a living thing you know, it has a certain degree of intelligence. Beetles know this

  • "Earth's average speed of revolution about the sun is 29.8 kilometers per second''

    - Asimov, Isaac. Exploring the Earth and the Cosmos. New York: Wightfall, 1982: 243.

  • Afraid of Monsters.... This goes together perfectly. These people should think about lending their music to Horrer game and movie makers.

  • Yeah, I'm pretty sure this was Damage, Inc. by MetallicA first, lol.

  • @Vexom09 the songs bare a slight resemblance, at most...Metallica fucking sucks.

  • @mutualxslump I don't see a "slight" resemblance. It's almost copy & paste status. Not trying to start shit, I'm just stating a fact. And yes, we all know that anytime MetallicA is mentioned, someone has to say they suck. It's getting old man, lol.

  • @Vexom09 Doesnt sound that similiar to me. I can see why you think its simliar though.

  • Afraid of Monsters and Aphex Twin goes together like knifes and serial killers.

  • @Thecoolgman Exactly what brought me here... Although i haven't played that mod.

  • @Imahdum666 I played it a few years ago, and still do today. It's definitely one of the best horror mods I've ever played.

  • Aphex Twin is the king of subtlety. Very rich but minimalistic. Excellent track.

  • the music made me think happy days

  • I have been looking 13 years for this track. I am in HEAVEN! Thank you.

  • @juniperloosely

There's a higher quality version of it. Type in aphex twin #19, it's the first result.

  • such a simple, beautiful track....

  • Half-Life

  • Any problems you have with life evaporate at 0:00...

  • fuck i just listened to this song for over half an hour repeatedly AGAIN! this track should never end...

  • Not usually into Ambient all that much but man, kind of get lost in this track.

  • bliss.perfection.

  • this reminds my of a rainy day all across the UK and people everywhere are staring out their windows watching the rain pour and pour...

  • la perfezione.

  • AFRAID OF MONSTERS <333!

  • @DeathNoteFan126 so this is the freaky song :(. its no fair id say, play this song anywhere dark and you got a nightmare scene

  • @jvemPiRe14 i think Hankie would fit better.

  • @jvemPiRe14

Nightmare? it's more soothing than scary to me! :3

  • @DeathNoteFan126 ahah yessss

  • afraid of monsters ogm

  • It was after I had sat down to this song and lit my cigarette that I realized I had indeed gotten my hopes up. Good tune for contemplation.
