I think that if you're happy with just basic touch gesture functionality, go with the Magic Mouse & you should be quite happy with it!
However now that the Magic Trackpad has just come out, I would say this is the only way to go if you want total in depth touch gesture functionality like you get on MacBook trackpads.
DRBUK, well I guess Apple really surprised everybody now with the recent release of the Magic Trackpad!
I already own a Magic Mouse which I purchased with my new Mac Mini in Dec 09. At first I thought that the mouse was a little lacking in gestures & so decided to download Magic Prefs to add more.
The problem with this is the Magic Mouse tended to get confused over which finger gesture you are doing. So I think I might now buy a Magic Trackpad!
@DRBUK To get the full functionality of your Magic Mouse, I suggest you get an application called MagicPrefs, with that u can set up gestures for Exposé and everything. It's awesome. Plus, you can increase tracking speed a whole lot more. It's worked wonders.
gestures are not for me, i use keys with mouse and buttons on the mouse, a lot less effort with a button than a gesture IMO. I have never used gestures on any macbook that i have used where is is available.
it was because i watched all of your videos on the Logitech MX Revolution that i descided to go out and get it and it is an amazing mouse and way better than the mouse that came with the dell. I have tried the magic mouse (in the good old regents street apple store) and like it, although i don't yet have a mouse and the MX Revolution is a tough competitor.
WTF? USB? TrackPad? Why buy a mouse then? Defeats the purpose of having a MOUSE.
Overall I don't like the gestures on the mouse itself. It's going to cause a quicker carpal tunnel condition. Logitech's buttons are still better for me.
i love the mouse but where i use 3d apps and shake, they ALL use a middle click. I use hot corners for expose etc but i need a middle click. Any professional user will.
I think Apple are going touch for like you said, so they can easily update it with software rather than requiring a whole new peice of hardware with physical buttons, like the iPhone. Initially features may be a little anemic but they can easily expand on them. Also I can't imagine it'll take long before someone makes a small app that lets you make custom gestures, maybe even Apple themselves will add it later in a software update.
if the microsoft arc mouse didnt existed yet and apple used the arc of that mouse in this one it would be incredible; multitouch + ergonomics. its always good to fantasize about something lol. nice review btw
Yea I have it, its a really good browser, its alot more stable than other browsers, but sometimes youtube videos take forever to load or not load at all.
Ive been testing out Edovia TouchPad for the iPhone, its a nice cheap way to get multi touch on desktop (or older laptop in my case) Macs if you already own an iPhone. i forget the price for it but search it in the AppStore, i think im gonna get the mighty mouse and use the TouchPad for multi touch.
Thanks for the series on the magic mouse Adrian, I need a new mouse and been right undecided on getting this mouse or a logitech one, so very in depth and helpful.
lol thanks, this and my review of the aluminium macbook took AGES to prepare, this wasnt too bad, but man i was so tired after doing the aluminium macbook review.lol. that took me a month to write up, this took me about 3 days to write up.lol
Nice, it is good for old Mac user to buy it so they have multi-touch gestures-ftw, I have a macbook pro 2 months old so I have it already but I just wish the mouse was more agronomical- "Huggie"
They should add new gestures, but tbh I wouldn't ever use three finger gestures. Couldn't they have two finger swipes up and down, which would equal expose/spaces?
You boring cunt hehehe

its for consumers, period. Not professionals. Not until a firmware update to enable middle click.

To get a middle click you can put two fingers on the surface and then click. It seems to work on this magic mouse to open a new tab in safari

s3ntry93 2 years ago
That is to go up/down on a page-scroll
crimjctmajor 2 years ago
No that's one finger scrolling, sure you CAN use two finger scrolling but that's basically for your personal preference.
As I would use one finger to scroll it would be nice to have a two finger up/down gesture versus three fingers which I wouldn't use.
