FOR THE SAKE OF THIS THREAD: THE ONLY REASON THE POLICE SHOWED UP WITH PEPPERBALL GUNS WAS TO APPREHEND A SUSPECT IN A CASE INVOLVING A MISSING BOY FROM ROCK SPRINGS WY. HE WAS HIDING IN THE KIDDIE VILLAGE AND HE IS THE REASON THEY SHOWED UP IN FORCE. BAKA!!
In an October 2008 report the American Civil Liberties Union stated: The U.S. Forest Service systematically harasses people who attend Rainbow Family gatherings on public lands.
@bhstone1 You're another moron aren't you. Just like occupy wallstreet, with that many people comes the waste associated with that many people. It is their duty to patrol events like this to make sure the land is being violated which Rainbow tends to do. If you knew WHY the cops were there you would realize it was the fault of the man being apprehended that they were there with pepperball guns jackass.
@unamedspartan Dude, I do not support or go to OWS. I carry a badge and a gun. I've also been to the Rainbow Gatherings and know that it's peaceful hippies in the woods. The USFS LEOs there harass and intimidate the hippies. The ACLU has come out and said so and so have multiple courts.
Nie work...police the cops there...I wwonder tho., do they ever search a tent at random (don't mean one with a huge blue cloud comin out of it?? That would be a viol of 4rth ammendment rights
@MrSEAofGREEN Hey, thanks for watching. I enjoyed hearing the drums beating as I videotaped this event. I also appreciate how gatherers are being warned of the oncoming onslaught of badges and billyclubs, I guess they call them tazers these days.
@eligarf No they are paid to police the area within their jurisdiction and since there are a lot of strange people massing in one spot they have to be suspicious. Especially since the the rainbow name is synonymous with drug related activities. Just because you didn't commit a crime doesn't mean you are exempt from being patrolled. BTW your "affairs" aren't private while camping on public land.
@unamedspartan where do you get off saying that the rainbows are synonymous with drug related activities...evidently you have NEVER been Welcomed Home before, you seem to follow a few inacurate news articles to base your opinion... attend before you judge... you may learn something about yourself...Many Blessings SMR
@TheSmreeder Wrong again dumbass, You can feign innocence all you wish, but it doesn't alter the fact that when "rainbow gathering" is mentioned to anyone anywhere: People think of drugs and whether or not they can score some there.
@unamedspartan -- Spoken like a true-blue self-righteous traitor to civil rights and the very meanings of personal sovereignty, peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, peace and Freedom. Just because highly inaccurate or exaggerated claims are made by Gestapo-like Crime-and-Punishment Fanatics to justify their agenda for incitement & provocation doesn't mean hostility, distrust & disrespect are warranted. People CAN govern themselves, they actually prefer it. You're just an apologist for fascism.
@incarsr8gmail True, but would you like police staring at you while you have your family picnic? It's like you would need extra food to feed them too.
@incarsr8gmail so if you go camping with a large group of people,it would be ok with you if a half dozen cops hang around your campsite and search your stuff and take your info, show up at anytime and submit to thier will.
Then when shift change come new cops show up and do the same thing over again-sounds like fun huh?
@kingofbuds5000 Sounds like great fun. I think I'd have a video camera going to show the police harassment to the world, like here on YouTube. Thanks for watching!
When i 1st went to gatherings it was concidered very rude to take anybodys' picture.but nowadays with cops shooting up a child care center i say the more cameras ,the better
@1snocogirl Believe me, it's legal to shoot pictures on public land, despite the appearance of rudeness when you capture insignificant others. Only a couple of people protested: a Buddhist monk who smokes cigarettes and an outlaw on The FBI's Most Wanted list.
I am a hippie, but I must say that the LEO's have a legal right to check the area. Shouting profanity and increasing intolerance of gatherers to law enforcement is making more of them show up. Hard drugs and crime are infecting the gatherings. This is ruining it for everyone. What are those followers warning others for? So they can hide their hard drugs??? Where are the videos of the stabbings or all too common "A" camp fights? It used to be about peace, not intolerance to law.
When I was there, I personally saw no drugs being used. But I agree with your assertion for tolerance. I was approached by a couple of people there who did NOT like the fact I had a camera, yet there were others who said they were glad. One monk was afraid of me catching him smoke a cigarette, never mind a joint!
This shows that the Rainbows worship of Obama and what he said would be his policy's was badly misplaced. Politics is politics no matter what party or skin colour. I don't always agree with the Rainbows lifestyle but I absolutely agree with there right to live it any way they choose. When the Nazi's came after the Jews, I didn't say anything because I wasn't a Jew. When they came after the Gypsy's I didn't say anything, cause I wasn't a gypsy. Sound familiar? It's time we said something.
Tolerance, if not love itself, of people of all colors, creeds and nations is the Rainbow mantra. Early Rainbows adopted the hippy lifestyle, but after my visit at the Gathering it became evident that the Rainbows include the entire spectrum of humans and human experience. Thanks for watching my video.
@jjoserox You are an idiot. The man whom they were apprehending was a suspect in the case of a missing boy. He was hiding out in the kiddie village like a fucking coward. He brought the cops there in that fashion.
I cannot believe all the harassment they received from the rangers. I'm from that area and I thought it was neat that they were out there celebrating peace and earth. Ridiculous! I mean kids were there and all....
I know - I took my two grandchildren and I don't think there was a time in their lives that they were safer. I'm from Albuquerque - where do you live?
I was at the gathering for 4 days.I wasn't surprised about the Forest rangers, but I never seen the Marshalls at any of the 4 other gatherings I was at from 99' to 02' .Do you know why they made such a big presence ?
My guess is that the gathering is now a target of homeland security forces as they seek out domestic terrorists. If only they could look in the mirror and see the terror staring at their face. I haven't heard of one terrorist being arrested yet. It's like looking for needles in a haystack but I'm sure they have their technology available to augment their searches. Just an educated or not-so-educated guess.
Cant you guys find a place where cops wont bother you? I know if I had a head full of acid ,I would want to be as far away from cops as possible.

it matters because they are hired to catch criminals, and not to snoop on peaceful people's private affairs.

You got to pay attention to the finer details of this video to realize that's exactly what's going on. Even the people in the video don't deny it.
