For the people who scream about late term abortions, this is the sort of reason they are performed; so the child doesn't have to suffer and the mother doesn't risk her life during delivery. It is a rare procedure and only 4 Dr in the USA even perform them. As testing improves and our surgical skill and techniques progress more, children will be able to survive theses sorts of birth defects. But until that time it is cruel to compound the families grief by forcing their child suffer like this.
