  • SOOOO, John 3:16, 5:24, 6:47, 11:25-27, and John 20:31 are all wrong? Rom 10:9,10 is referring to confession of believers. James 2:14 is talking about salvation of people who are already believers. They deal with sanctification salvation, NOT justification salvation. What criteria do you you use to "Divide" sanctification salvation verses from justification salvation verses. If you blend them together, you have entered into faith + works salvation. Nobody can be saved by that horrible mess.

  • A person of course not only confesses Jesus as Lord but also as their only Savior.

(2 Cor 5:17-21). Yes, that text teaches that total and complete forgiveness of sins is available thru Christ. The objective part of the Gospel as mentioned is tied up in Jesus and the Gospel message. The subjective part is that one must understand the terms Jesus calls for, for that forgiveness of sins. Many self-professed Christians accept Jesus as Savior but not as Lord, to affirm they hold on to self-rule...

  • Would you call James accursed, who called a faith that did not produce works a "useless" faith. And would you also pronounce Paul accursed when he said that "you are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them" (Eph 2:10)

Of course you would also have to call Christ "accursed" who said that the sheep on His right had done good works for "the least of these" while the goats on His left did nothing (Mat 25:31-46)

  • I don't see any difference between old and new. Faith that works is the same thing as faith plus works. John MacArthur consistently teaches that believing in Jesus for eternal life, which is what the Bible teaches (pisteuo being persuaded of a fact) in John 3:16, 5:24, 6:47, 11:25-27, is NOT enough to get everlasting life. All who are persuaded that Jesus gives everlasting life have it Nobody can be saved with MacArthur's Lordship Gospel. It is an accursed Gospel.

  • @dreiher2 To believe in Him (John 3:16) means believing in Jesus is Lord over your life, confessing Him as lord (Romans 10:9). Jesus made it clear in Mark 8:34-38, (lose your life for my sake and the Gospel) Luke 9, Mt 16, John 10. That's the starting principle, His terms, His subjective part of the Gospel. In verse 38 Jesus warned to not be ashamed of Him and His words or He would find you ashamed. God grants saving faith and repentance but one must believe in Jesus, His person, work, words...
