  • i tried the beats by dr dre at best buy and well they sounded great excellent noise cancellation and high pitch vocals and of course good base in other words you get what you paid for if you want to be cheap then blame yourself if you pay 100 bucks expect it to be okay but not omg amazing. im getting beats.i dont care how much i have to pay i just want good sound and base when it is needed.

  • @MrVampirekaname that makes perfect sense if you are not making any music. If you are only listening to music, then exaggerated sound is just fine. If you make music, you don't want the headphones to make the music sound better than it is because you need accurate reference. Studio headphones are meant to highlight any audio imbalances or bad mixes

  • people please stop buying professional audio if you are using crap like iphone is!!!

  • @severgun Why? If someone happens to have an iphone they can't also be a musician or need studio quality headphones? Shut up already...

  • @Evenhandedview LOL. If you have crap sound source, why you buying pro headphones?

This is like buying corvette with engine from grass-cutter.

You spend 200$ and get sound like 30$ headphones.

Pro headphones must be used with a good DAC, amplifier and lossless audio. Instead of iphone with mp3s.

Also your iPhone and any other mobile device can't pump more than 16-32 Om.

  • love that guys voice...

  • These are heavy and durable because they're studio headphones. They're not exactly meant to be on the go everyday headphones.

  • How long can that cord stretch?

  • on sale at future shop 89.99 in canada

  • Get a pair of vmoda crossfade lps. 50 mm drivers. they are great. check em out

  • I disagree that the beats are better to be honest.. Also they're not bad for trance or any electronic music. NOW, I'm not saying they're the best, but deffinately NOT bad at all. The beats are over-hyped and over saturated with bass. Some people night like that, but most people who know anything about sound and music know that its not always a good thing to have overly saturated bass.

  • Hey is english your mothertongue? just because just stop some times in the video but I`m sure you were just a bit nervouse. Just because i`m not english an i speak just as fluid as you do. Anyway thx for the vid, really good even if the Beat-hadphones such the Audio Technica are better and coste just the half.

  • Are you the voice of Tim on the Cleveland show?

  • lol frilled, twisted? The word that escaped you was coiled :P

  • I have shr440 model, and I have to mostly agree about the comfort, but I don't agree on the cord, I don't find it heavy at all. Sound wise, personally if you listen to hiphop, you shouldn't spend anything more than 50$, just get something comfortable. But for those of us who have decent taste in music like classical, rock, jazz, metal these will (shr440) will be perfect. They Have balanced and all around good bass , imho best (100$ range) mids and subtle highs (don't hurt ure ears at) . 8/10.

  • i make hip hop beats. would they fit the genre? im not going to spend 300$ for the beats by dr dre... i heard a lot of bad thing about them. plus the thing with the batteries... i don`t like that. so which headphones would you recomend? thanks!

  • i gave you a thumbs up cos you made me watch all 6:57 minutes of the video.

  • earphoes that big are meant for home use mainly. for outdoors, get in-ears. much better solution for outdoor listening.

and btw, podcasts don't require that much expensive headphones. podcasts usually come in low quality.

  • Great review, not sure why many are flaming ya'. I don't see no problem with these being used on events other then for studio, some of us just like sound quality. :) P.S. The beatz are crap. :)

  • Where can I get those ear protectors?

  • for iPod, get a Fiio LOD and E5. pocket amp with bass boost

  • The srh440 headphones do not have the replacement pads in the box.

  • jesus christ man, your earlobes are huge!

  • you got such a radio voice!

  • it's a studio reference headphones. that's why the frequency on them are as flat as possible and no dr. dre exaggerated bass and high frequencies..duuuh!!!

  • D0p3! !11

  • Why would you seriously wear these on the bus!? These would no way in hell leave my studio. Thats exactly why If i wanted to, buy a pair of Dr.Dre's to beat into the ground, or some random skull candys if i'm on a budget.

Sorry dude, these are made for studio monitoring, not taking it on the bus >_>

  • @U1tIm0 Dude i use mine on the bus all the time. Whats wrong with using them on a bus?

  • who else thought that the microphone was fake until he pokes it?

  • Dr.Dre headphones are not great.

Come on an artist who hasnt come out with an album in 12 years?? ..

These are good..the Audio-Technica ATH-M50 Professional Studio Monitor Headphones are 1000000000000 Times better..

    read about it..:)

  • @Christowarrior Um no they are not. I own both the m50s and the srh840s. The srh840s are superior in practically every way.

  • Oh and.. DON'T BUY DOCTOR DRE HEADPHONES!! You need an AMP to get the best bass out of these headphones. Do not buy these if you only have an integrated sound card. The bass in these headphones is GREAT but you NEED an amp! ;) (don't buy dr. dre beats headphones, they SUCK compared to these!!!!)

  • Oh also, I wear these headphones for 3 - 4 hours per day and I have never had a sore head from these. Some people may be more sensitive but I'm thinking the majority of people won't have a problem! I would DEFINITELY recommend these headphones to anybody getting into higher quality audio!

  • I like you, and there aren't many people on youtube that I can stand listening to for more than 2 minutes!!! Keep up the good work buddy thanks for the review. I have had these headphones for a year or so and love them, they just keep getting better and better.

    Cheers!

    Timmy

  • at 5:49 he sounds like kermit the frog haha

  • i thought this guy knew what he was talking about until he recommended Beats.

  • Are they any for Rock and heavy metal music, and where can you get a shorter cable??

  • @Airman720 They do rock/metal well. This is do to the fact they are not harsh so things won't jump out at you. But i recommend the sennheiser hd 25 1 ii for rock over these.

  • Pretty much what everyone else said, these are studio monitoring headphones, Not meant for casual listening.

  • from 2:00-2:30 i had the same problem with my sony mdr-v700's because of its size it actually damaged the headphone slot on my ipod and had to replace it. and now that ive got amy new ipod i can feel its getting loose again!

  • are these headphones good/ok with hip hop and r&b songs?

  • what are those things you use on your ears to help blocking outside noise? Did you make it or can I buy it somewhere? thanks

  • its a 9 foot cable because it was made for studio monitoring. those of us that DO use this for actual studio work need this length compared to the kids that use this stuff to listen to ipods. its a HEAVY cord because its meant to withstand industrial use in a studio.

  • your voice is epic/hysterical! ur awesome

  • It's a pair of STUDIO MONITOR headphones you MORON! It's not designed for your iPod or your iPhone! It's for serious music production...producing REAL sound...not ear-thumping bass! And that's why the cord is that LONG....you need a long cord in the studio! Don't knock what you don't know anything about...smh...

  • yo, you're funny, man! your voice is epic/hysterical. thanks for the feedback!

  • London Ontario? Awwww yeah!

  • Whyyyy are people buying studio headphones and expecting them to be appropriate for a freakin' iPhone or iPod?!? o.0 Studio headphones are not casual listening headphones; they're MONITORING headphones - designed for accuracy. Are they accurate?? That's all I want to know.

  • good review. but you are one annoying motherfvcker.

  • I have these monitor headphones and the way they make monitors is to balance out all of the bandwidth so that everything is equal so that music mixing is easier. It's just made that way. In my opinion, these are one of the few headphones that dont sound muddy (much like the beats which cost a ton only for horrible muddy low frequency boosts) Btw I LOVE that microphone. Is that a ribbon mic?

  • how good are these with rock songs? Examples of artists Led Zepplin, AC/DC, Pink Floyd

  • I would not recommend buying this cord from other manufacturer. I have shure se310 and as I thought I can safe several euros by buying one cheap cord from conrad. I could hear that my headphones sound worse than they did before. So with headphones like this you have to buy cords from shure or from other company which has the same or even better quality. By the way try a colorfly C4!

  • your microphone is not sitting in the middle..

  • LOL looked like u were about to sing at he very start

  • @greekpanther1 the*

  • kinda slow try talking faster

  • it avatar the last air bender

  • hey mate, how about progressive rock kinda stuff like dream theater,etc...is this things good ?

  • Thanks man, absolutely brilliant review, very thorough and gave great real world situations which they are good and are not so good at being in 5/5 :P keep it up

  • Did you actually just suggest the beats?

  • @dtothelu

...meh, people just say that by default cause that's what all the basehead little kids want, whether good or not. these days it doesn't matter to anyone whats actually the best so much as hype. same thing with ipod which sucks the big one and one of the big reasons these new base heavy headphones came to market: ipod's eq is absolute garbage.

  • Those headphones are huge because they are generally meant for studio use. Just saying :P Good review though,

  • dude.. you are fucking hilarious man. you sound like JD from scrubs, ahaha!

  • Comment removed

  • If possible, could you do a review of the new Shure SRH940 headphones? Love your commentary by the way! :D

  • how you customized the ear plugs? :S i need those?? please..

  • Why did you even buy these headphones when you are using them in the iphone? If you did some research you would notice that these cans need an amp, just like very other good headphone. No amp = 1/3 of the quality sound you paid for.

  • dude these r mastering studio engineer headphones not some funky iphone headphones..u have to be a retard to use these for anything less.

  • Im a Heavy Metal drummer looking for a pair of Noise canceling headphones that I can use to jam with tunes on my drum kit and use them for regular basis as well but I dont want to pay 300-400$ worth of headphones that arent really good any sugestions?

  • @KindaKevin Audio Technica ATH-M50 have good isolation they don't have active noise cancelling but you can't hear anything outside with them on also they sound great take a look at all the reviews on youtube. If you want bass and really good isolation aswell go with the Ultrasones ie Ultrasone HIFI 580/780 or Pro650/750 series alot of drummers use these.

  • @CiaranVanDon Hey Man Thanks Im going with the Audio Technica ATH-M50 3 people told me to try them and seem to be pretty awesome! So Thanks man.

  • He lost all his credibility we he said that the Beats are better. THEY AREN'T!!!

  • @Criver12

Well. He's right in the fact that the Beats have better bass.... but suck at everything else lol.

  • @Criver12 the beats are bassy headphones, kind of muddy and unclear for their price. these shure are different, they are flat responce monitors. very balanced even frequency across the whole range

  • Great Review. Subscribed :)

  • WOrking around machines and blocking noise = no no, not good... that's a hazard!

Funny and yet informative review. Thumbs up.

  • make an other device revieWW and i would like you to say something in spanish for your fants and subscribers from LA!!

  • armpit hair!! :3

  • @BlackSadCat lol

  • @JawnMercernary What race are you?

  • You need to run it off a headphone amp. My friend has these and they beat my beats by a longshot. Btw I listen to dubstep and DnB. Looking to get a pair of srh940s cause my studios are not as good. I usually run off my beats off my portable cmoyBB amp.

  • what camera are you using...your video looks awesome

  • dude its a STUDIO headphone for a reason not for your ipod

  • @wltnm studio headphone/ monitoring headphones can also be used for Digital Audio Player too..

  • @wltnm just because they're professional studio headphones doesn't mean they can't be used for recreational listening. they're just not meant for your everyday consumer, just professionals and i suppose the occasional audiophile

  • Great job

  • what kind of microphone do you use? Your voice sounds amazingly clear.

  • @jp66669 Blue Yeti. I have a review of it, and microphone tests on my account.

  • @JawnMercernary the quality of your voice was SURPRING 0.o it made me jump.

  • You gotta get used to the headband (or stretch them manually); it hurt a ton when I first started using these, but after a few months I can wear them for hours at a time (started out at maybe ~15 minutes) without pain.

  • Great review. Make more!!! More reviews please.

  • Can I get your numba? Can I havvv it?

    Can I getchyo number?!

lol "This big mother" love it.

  • @TediousExultance lol I got cha. "Can I havvv it?"
