  • Great video. I love the Andy Griffith Show and all the characters. Howard McNear was a wonderful actor. and did a great job with Floyd the barber. He also played "Andy the barber" in a "Leave It To Beaver" episode. The episode where Ward yells at Wally for using his razor.

  • Love it, the Real, "Pink Floyd!"

  • rem2267 said it all, but I'll say some more ;-B. With all due respect, it's a real shame this otherwise exceptional piece is spoiled by the one line about the stroke. Tastelessness aside, you violated the "fourth wall"--the rest of the lyrics and video stayed within the limits of spoofing the Mayberry characters, and this real-world reference yanked me right out of the moment.

  • A great video You deserve some kind of award

  • They even worked Thelma Lou into it! Brilliant!

  • Wow.

This is so far above most of the youtube videos. I am saving as a favorite and subscribing!!

McNear was a wonderful actor and did more with less lines than anyone i ever saw.

  • "With Otis Goober and Gomer Pyle..."

    With that change... brilliance!

  • ALMOST Fantastic! I love the show and the character, but I thought that the part where you said that he had to sit down b/c he had a stroke was really tasteless.

Also, it sounded like you called Otis 'Emmet.' (could be me, though, although I played it twice)

If you can find it in your heart to take out the part about the stroke, I'd give it a thumbs up. Otherwise, I liked it very much.

  • “We sincerely apologize to anyone who was offended by our attempt at humor regarding the health of Howard McNear" --Gilbert Gottfried

We also commend anyone who managed to notice that, while we recorded the song with the name 'Emmet' in the lyrics, we could only find a clip of 'Otis.' It turns out our research was flawed (albeit nonexistent); "Emmet' did not appear on the Andy Griffith Show until after Floyd had left.

  • Wow...well edited and brilliantly written. Hope you have a full-time job that allows you to express yourself this well. But I have to say it...Emmet Sucks. Or is it Emmit?

  • Just beautiful. try playing it back with the theme to Twin peaks...

  • lil known fact...floyd and mr shwump had a down low relationship..

  • A great concept! Very funny. Well done!

  • As a fan of the Broadway Show, this is brilliant....BRILLIANT! (Its even Better than the awful film version made of the show with Johnny Depp!!)

  • Who is the chick who sings? Shes GOOD! WTF?? THis is hilarious! in both production and concept! THANK YOU

  • I've never seen the "Andy Griffith's Show" before, but I love Sweeney Todd - and this made me laugh heaps - well done guys !!

  • should be a warning about opening 'screech' volume

  • This really made me laugh...I am a rabid Sweeny Todd fan so much that I dismissed the movie for omitting the overture.....and gah...this took me completely by surprise....You are awesome..thank you!!

  • love it! hysterical!

  • Awesome!

  • VERY well done, performed, mixed, and edited. But then again, we ARE talking about the brilliant "Sweeney Todd", now aren't we???

  • Brilliant!

  • That was reeeeeeeal nice, YouTube!

  • Funny! Very, very funny!

  • Brilliant !

  • This was briliant work. How can you not love Floyd the Barber?

  • HILARIOUS! i KEEP laughing at it. i'm trying to get everyone i know to share it, this should go utterly viral. how did you piece out all those particulary Mayberry moments? it's scary to contemplate anybody knowing the show that well, but Kudos on the product, it's BRILLIANT!

  • that was very well done.

everyone loved floyd, that's why in later episodes, when the actor became disabled and couldn't walk or stand well, he was kept on the show, and shown sitting down.

they even rigged a special support stand thing for those times when he had to stand behind the barber chair.

this was a well sung, well edited clip.

    good work.

  • BRAVO!

  • Genius editing as well as an inventive lyric! I hope this is shared with Mr. Sondheim. Thanks for creating this. It's obvious it was done with great affection!

  • Genius editing as well as an inventive lyric! I hope this is shared with Mr. Sondheim.

  • THIS IS MARVELOUS

    this made my day. XD

  • This......is awesome

  • Very well done!!!

  • I love the part @ 0:19 lol..."Ah!..eh...um..."

  • Floyd is one of the best characters on AG. The song sucks.

  • HAHA!!!

  • This is GENIUS!

  • ..Nice Job....eh...eh....eh....oh yeah!......

  • Great job...both the editing and the song parody! Loved it!

  • love this video

  • swing your scissors high sweeney!!!!

  • swing your scissors high sweeney. satan comes nearby!!!!!!!

  • Genius!!!

  • Great job! Thanks for all the hard work to keep Mayberry alive in our hearts!

  • This is a true work of art.

    NIce Job!!!!!

  • I show this video to any fan of Mayberry that I come across. Good to know there are some like you using your twisted mind for the sake of good. Too funny!

  • Well done! That is damn funny! About 1 minute in I found myself laughing out loud!

  • Awesome job! Five stars!

  • Freakin' brilliant!

  • Now that's inspired!!!

  • He had a massive stroke in the later episodes, that's why he was always seen sitting outside the shop or standing behind the barber's chair. He was paralyzed on one side.

  • @QuaintTaint how do you know that lol

  • Floyd always reminds me of a mild mannered Snagglepuss.

  • I once saw a stand-up comic do his impression of Floyd having an orgasm. It was mega funny.

  • lol!, what a wonderful job-the song and syncing of song and video clips must have taken a while...an excellent (and funny) piece of work.

  • That was absolutely a masterpiece ! Brilliant direction and editing. You put your heart and soul into this! What a gift . Thanks for sharing!

  • Quite well done. Even by Mayberry standards, FTB was notably surreal.

  • Very well done, nicely put together. There was always something a little Serial Killerish about Floyd.

  • Very funny love it.

  • Yes, we wrote and recorded the song before the footage was compiled (and before we remembered that Emmet didn't appear until after Floyd was gone), but in the spirit of never letting facts get in the way of good fun, it was easier to just continue with it as is and wait to hear from the infinitesimal percentage of total geeks like you to take their pleasure in pointing out our gaffe. Thanks for watching!

  • sorry ,it really is a very well done piece.i showed it to my friends and they got a good laugh.keep up the good work.

i will stop pointing out gaffe.

  • No apology necessary--just dishing out some good-natured ribbing on our end. You weren't the first to catch it--but you were one of only three or four out of around 125. Total geeks unite!

    RA

  • @riotactivities infinitesimal percentage of total geeks? Good God I just like watching it ans your "Gaffe" sticks out like a sore thumb! Only a total geek would take the time to make this....however, i am glad u did!

  • LOL Floyd is crazy :D

  • God what a masterpiece!!! One of the best things I've seen on youtube!

  • Most Excellent, great lyrics and singing.

  • Good video however that's not Emmett,it's Otis the town drunk.

  • lol, hilarious!

  • Loved the show but aunt B got on my last nerve

  • You. Are. The. KING!

  • What's great is that even after "Floyd" had his massive stroke, they kept him on the show...very sweet. Put this clip with "Lego Silence of the Lambs" and you will have two songs stuck in your head, for weeks to come! But at least they are CLEVER songs, right?? Excellent job.

  • Good apple pie...

  • Brilliant...

  • Pure genius

  • There's not a YouTube clip that can top this. GENIUS!!

  • That was a brilliant homage. Well done.

  • Oh, that was just - made me laugh, it was good, like the variety show they put on... in Mount Pilot... oh, but funny! I remem - er uh..hmm before your time, wasn't it?

  • 1:30 shows otis and identifies him as emmet. still a great video. very classy and respectful.

  • Genius, pure genius. Thank you!!!!

  • I laughed so hard, I fell off the barber chair!!! A standing ovation from everyone here at the barber shop!!!

  • Brilliant! BRAVO! This is a wonderous work of visual/sound editing...Makes me wonder if you are an editor by profession. Thank you, thank you for posting....Hilarious!!!! LOVE IT!!!

  • I couldn't stop laughing either and 2:35-2:36 is really scary.

  • This is too funny!!! Bravo... very well done!!!

  • That was awesome!! Well done and Thanks for the laughs!!

  • great work it takes great intelligence to play a dimwit

  • See I love Sweeney Todd, but this is just plain wrong but very funny!!! The guy who singing's voice is very wierd..... XD

  • Agreed! One of the most creative pieces I've seen here.

    Kudos!

  • Well, since they cut this song out of the movie version of Sweeney, they should be forced to splice this video onto the front of the DVD! - Just desserts!!!

    and a wonderful tribute!

  • LOL! i almost peed my pants! im serious. 5*****

  • Simply wonderful. (tears)

  • BWAHAHAHAHAAA!!!!!!

  • This really is just wonderful, superb work! ***********'s

  • Exeptional work. Perfect audio, exquisite editing. Thank you!

  • I was reading about the Andy Griffith show and found it interesting that Howard McNear suffered a stroke and was going to quit the show until Andy talked him into staying. However, he wasn't in good health, and if you notice in the later episodes, he's almost ALWAYS sitting down - usually in his barber chair or on a bench. The film crew adjusted to his needs.

Howard finally left the show because of his declining health, and he died from another stroke a couple of years after he retired.

  • @grekanda29 Really nice how he talked him into staying, with today's style of show with no substance most studios would have just let him go. After the shows all said and done I wouldn't have wanted him any other way

  • Absolutely inspired. A real favorite, from the first viewing. I second "BRILLIANT" and "HILARIOUS!", and also, "Thanks!"

  • Very good although that wasn't Emmett (that was Otis) in one bit and Floyd left the show long before it "wasn't renewed" (actually they just had to change the title to Mayberry RFD because Griffith was sick of playing Andy Taylor and wanted to make movies.

  • Loved it!

  • WONDERFULLY HILARIOUS!

  • that was great. thanks! john

  • SIMPLY BRILLIANT!!!

  • He suffered a STROKE..That is why he SAT down

  • Yes--as the lyrics clearly state:

"He had a shop in Mayberry Town, He had a stroke so he always sat down..."

But thank you for the affirmation.

  • Beyond excellent. If this didn't make it as a feature video youtube SUXS!

  • omg such A GREAT video!!!

    i love it!

  • you must become a lyricist someday!!!

  • Floyd the great acid freak of Mayberry!!! Oh Andy!!!!

  • Excellent. Well done.

  • just a little shave..

  • Brilliant! A masterpiece! You are awesome!

  • I am just astounded at how much work you put into this. The lyrics, all the parts for the voices, the editing.

The uncomfortable thing with something like this is always the awe at the effort, and the relentless question WHY?!

  • I've watched your video a few times now. No one really can understand how long you must of took to make it. Not counting the music. Nice touch of show theyeme song. Did you buy the DVD for such a clean copy? Lots of editing. Great Job. Now lets hope you don't get thrown off youtube for using Copyrighted material....not that I would know anything about it.....Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • GREAT...GREAT EDITING...you had to know the TV SHOWS to do what you did. lass stuff. SO go cut your throats...great job

  • Floyd is my Favorite character on that show!

  • Awesome! I always loved Floyd!

  • Awesome!!! I always loved Floyd!

  • This is one of the funniest videos I've ever seen. Good job!

  • funny stuff

  • GENIUS!

  • BRAVO!!!!! ROTFLMAO

  • i laughed until i wet myself. then i laughed about that!

  • Absolutely hysterical!

Hard to choose, but my favorite line is "With Andy, Barney and Thelma Lou" and my favorite visual is the first time you cut to Opey at 0:28.

I think I'm responsible for 1,000 of your hits.

  • Absolutely incredible!!!! Wish I could give you ten stars.

  • *LOL* OMG ... this is freakin' brilliant!

  • ...........some kind of m a d genius..........

  • sweeney? floyd lawson

  • I just watched this for the third time and it's better than ever// :D Howard mcnear was a great, unique comedian :D

  • That is SO good.

  • Friggin' hilarious - what an inspired idea - and really phenomenal production values - bravo!

  • That was freakin' hilarious! Who recorded the song?

  • Well done! Very funny.

  • Great JOB!!! Love floyd....that part where he said "gooood apple pieee..." was just hilarious :D :D :D

  • OMG! This is absolutely fantastic! The editing is razor edge. I had to sleep with the light on.

  • fabu-lash! i love it! thank you for doing it!

    : )

    laura

  • ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT and frickin' hilarious!! How did you even *think* of this combination? Love your twisted mind...

  • THIS is terrific! What amazing work! A wonderful tribute!

  • I also like the way you edited the swirling angles, the great choice of shots of apprehensive Mayberry citizens and of Floyd adt his weirdest, and making the color episode clips appear in black and white for uniformity and so the whole thing has that noir/Universal horror look. And yeah, I noticed the Emmett goof, but didn't bother to mention it.

  • I adore this video. I love "The Andy Griffith Show," and this is a great mash-up which manages to be both biting and affectionate (I admit, my favorite lyric is "He had a stroke, so he always sat down": sad but true, you can always tell a pre and post-stroke episode by whether Floyd is only seen sitting or carefully propped by his barber chair). The salute to Howard McNear at the end is a nice touch.

  • Some of the best editing I've seen here on YouTube.

  • We this Ballad was definitely missing in the film version...would be a brilliant stroke to insert this to buoy up that debacle! But then, this is indeed sung better..they'd never go for it...

  • This is genius. I love it.

  • As a huge fan of both "Sweeney Todd" and "The Andy Griffith Show, I LOVE this. But there is one error: at 1:31, the song lyrics name the onscreen character as Emmett, when it is, in fact, Otis. Small quibble though. This is GREAT!

  • Congratulations--YOU WIN!! We wondered how long it would be before someone spotted the mistake. The goof was actually in the lyrics, which were recorded before the video was cut together. It turns out Emmett didn't even appear until after Floyd left the show. We fired the lyricist, but decided to leave the mistake in so some total geek like you could take glee in pointing it out :) We're glad you liked it--and watched it enough times to notice. Thanks!

  • LMAO

  • I'll mail you my address so you can send me my prize.

  • oh-oh-oh Opie ...

  • Excellent!

5 stars and a fav and bunch of shares.

  • O...M...G...I'm going to send this to all my geeky theatre friends. Fabulous!

  • do u delete negative comments?

  • Not if they're intelligent :)

  • "Shear" Brilliance! (pun intended)

  • Amazing! Brilliant! Hilarious!

  • BRILLIANT!

  • FUCKING GENIUS!!!! KUDOS!!!

  • Pretty gosh-darn funny. Fantastic work!

  • Fantastic! The producers of the film should pay you to add this clip to the Sweeney Todd DVD. It would make a brilliant addition.
