One big problem the theory has is with oxygen. Probably the book says that the earth had a “reducing atmosphere.” That means the air had no oxygen. They have to believe that, because any amino acids that formed would have been quickly oxidized otherwise.
Oxygen would stop the process before it really got started. Life can’t even get started “evolving” without oxygen present. However, the problem with leaving out oxygen is that ozone is made from oxygen; so there would be no ozone layer to stop ultraviolet light in this imaginary atmosphere “billions of years ago.” Since ultraviolet light destroys ammonia (one of the key gases that they need), there would be no way life could get started without oxygen.
Thing about this argument is that 'modern DNA techniques' translated to the creationist tongue equals "ABRA KADABRA!". They don't acknowledge science and complicated methods you can't understand after reading "x for dummies" as fact.

There are also the lizards observed speciation in the Caribbean and other critters and plants introduced from europe to the USA have changed into new species in the last 300 years (sparrow etc).

The branch of amphibians that became reptiles are identified as the Labyrinthodonta. they faced ecological change as the carnoniferous wetlands dried (there is evidence for this event) natural selection leads to reptiles that are simply water retaining amphibians that will eventually lay eggs on land. Casineria and Hylonomus are incredibly close to the reptiliomorph labyrinthodonts that preceded them
